Our farmhouse nestles in a corner of the Chateau de Courtomer estate in Normandy. It overlooks a large garden which has been planted with apple trees and features a wild flower meadow. Perfect for al fresco dinning, relaxation and it also provides a child friendly play space. The village of Courtomer is just a ten minute walk away or, if you prefer, a five minute bicycle ride (we provide six bikes). The village is a busy place with a very good baker, café/ restaurant, supermarket and chemist. There are regular markets in the village and all the other local towns around.
The house has been renovated to a high standard of comfort and relaxed good taste. Authentic details have been retained whenever possible, replicating old doors and hardware where possible. The stonework has been restored using traditional masonry techniques, floors are covered with handmade terracotta tiles and wood planks. Great care has been taken to maintain the historical detail of the property. It has been a labour of love involving many hands –our family, our staff, and local artisans We hope you and your guests will enjoy the Farmhouse as much as we do!
The property is centrally heated. It offers an open plan lounge-diner and kitchen featuring the original fireplace with a wood burner, a very well appointed kitchen and comfortable seating for dining and relaxing. All four bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor, with easy access to the outdoors. Towels, linens, and toiletries are supplied and beds are made up ready for our guests arrival. There is a separate, fully equipped laundry room and pantry
The Farmhouse has its own private entrance and driveway and is independent of the Chateau and other farm buildings. The patio is furnished with classic French metal furniture and parasols plus a large barbeque. Rear windows look onto the park of the Chateau and the Chateau itself The estate includes a working farm, raising Limousine cattle and cereals. When staying at the farmhouse you will often see our farmer coming and going to take care of our herd of Limousine cattle. We welcome well behaved pets- no holiday would be the same without them!
