Lovely week in gorgeous surroundings!

We stayed at Forget me Not cottage for a week. The facilities were superb and everything catered for. The cottage is decorated to a high standard with a costal theme and definitely deserves five stars! My teenagers particularly liked the barn and played lots of darts and pool, perfect for their age group. Lisa and Graham were lovely hosts who made sure we were ok without being intrusive. Would definitely recommend a stay and would love to return in the future.

Fabulous and immaculate cottage with great views!

From the start Lisa was fantastic to deal and a very welcoming host. The cottage is immaculate, exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished. The cottages have quite obviously been a labour of love and nothing been overlooked. The views over the fields towards the sea are quite simply stunning! We all loved the donkey's who are in the field in front of the cottages and also the very well equipped play barn. There are many beautiful places to visit within easy reach of the house, we particularly liked atmospheric Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes. There is a pub within easy walking distance that serves good food, this was a very welcome treat on our arrival. I would definitely recommend Forget-Me-Not for a holiday stay, it really is beautiful, we all loved it and would love to return!

The photos do not do it justice!

Our first impression when we arrived was that the photos we had seen in advance didn't do the property justice. The cottage, both inside and outside was even more attractive and charming than we expected. The cottage had everything we needed and was the perfect base for exploring the area.

Warm, welcoming and absolutely charming! We loved it!

Thank you Lisa and Graham for making our stay so comfortable and relaxing. The children just loved it and we will be definitely coming back again! The ‘Scratching Shed’ was a breath of fresh air, just that little extra thought goes a long way; for everyone to enjoy!

All your needs provided. Owners are welcoming and always willing to be of help.

The Forget-Me-Not cottage we stayed in was well provided for all our needs and the underfloor heating was efficient. Near the cottage was a garage with basic provisions at reasonable cost, a cafe, and a pub serving meals. A bus stop opposite the garage provided transport to Whitby and Scarborough. Plenty of footpaths were available from the cottage which pleased our dog and made our legs ache. The two teenage boys we had with us enjiyed the owners' man cave and the ability to play pool and darts. Supporters of Leeds UFC will be delighted with the wallpaper of match tickets and programmes.

The cottage had everything you would need and was in great location for exploring Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. Hopefully we will return again soo .

Beautiful clean cottage, peaceful setting and we loved it. Loved the furnishings in the cottage and the whole 'feng shui'. Perfectly located for Boggle Hole, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. Our dog, enjoyed it as much as us and our two children. Favourites being the cottage itself, the donkeys, dogs, views, location, surroundings fields, boggle hole, robin hoods bay and falling fos. Highly recommend and we hope to return. Thank you Lisa and Graham -great hosts xx

Superb

For-get-me-not - and we won't! Loved every thing about the cottage inside and out. It was spotlessly clean, tidy and ideally appointed. The view out the front towards the coast was superb. Lisa and Graham are lovely hosts- they should be really proud of what they have achieved here. We are looking forward to returning...sooner rather than later.

Clean, comfortable property with everything you need for a great holiday.

Had a great 4 days in Forget me Not. Property was gorgeous. Tastefully furnished with everything you need for a great holiday. Loved watching all the birds each morning on the bird feeder (thanks to Lisa for stocking up their bird feed supply each morning). Fab views of the countryside and sea from the living room. Lisa and Graham should be very pleased with what they've achieved. They made our stay comfortable and effortless. The property is located in a good spot for visiting the coastal towns and there are plenty of places to eat and drink within a mile or so.

Forget me not cottage is excellent

We booked for three days. Cottage was absolutely beautiful. Spotlessly clean and there is everything there you require. Lisa and graham the owners were there to greet us and made us feel very welcome. It was a pleasure to stay in one of their cottages and they are a credit to them and they are both still working hard building wooden huts that look great when there finished. They are very fortunate to live in such a lovely area with sea views , lovely walks and the beach practically on your doorstep. Will definitely visit again .

Fantastic little cottage with superb attention to detail. Lovely decor, fantastic views, a very kind welcome gift on arrival, a warm welcome by the owners and the handy dog wash all made for a great holiday experience! We did some fantastic walks along the Cleveland way and on the beach from Boggle Hole. We would definitely use the cottages again. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Lovely cottage with great views.

We had a great time at Forget Me Not cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with pans & utensils. The beds are really comfy with a nice quality bed linen & towels. There was always plenty of hot water no matter what time of the day. The cottage is well placed to visit all the lovely villages, Whitby is a 10 minute drive. There is a really nice walk to Robin Hoods Bay from the back of the cottage, it's not too challenging terrain wise, took us about 1.5 hours. Lisa & Graham were great host, really made you feel welcome. Would recommend the cottages to anyone.

Summer in Scarborough

Forget-Me-Not is a delightful dog-friendly cottage perched on a ridge looking down towards the coast and Robin Hood's Bay. The furnishings were top-notch with all utilities we could ask for. The hosts are genuinely interested in their guests. We particularly enjoyed walking out of the back gate and following the public footpath down through a Woodland Trust wood to arrive at the beach in around 70 minutes. A quite marvellous & relaxing cottage.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi Im Lisa and live with my husband Graham on our 10 acre small holding, next door to the cottages. We enjoy welcoming guests to Meadowbeck and are on hand for advice/assistance but do give guests their privacy to get on with their stay in their own way.
We have 2 very friendly dogs, 2 donkeys who are out in the paddock from late Spring to Autumn, 2 goats, 4 sheep, chickens and ducks.
We moved here in 2012 and renovated our 1760's agricultural stone barn into 3 holiday cottages, our utility barn into a games room and added 3 Shepherd Huts - 1 near the barn and 2 off-grid in our meadow.
Graham planted lots of apple trees and now enjoys making Yorkshire Cider.
It has been an exhausting journey, a labour of love but we have managed to stay married to each other and wouldn't swap it for the world.
We're very proud of what we have achieved and our wonderful guest reviews support that we are providing a great service.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the area whilst visiting my parents who live nearby in Scarborough. We were keen to buy a property which allowed us to run a holiday cottage business but also gave us the opportunity to renovate a building ourselves and start the business from scratch.
We moved in July 2012 & started work on the barn, which had only housed Cows and Swallows since 1760.

We love living here surrounded by the beautiful North York Moors and looking out on our animal family every day. It's such a peaceful esape with great walks on the doorstop, yet close to amenities and the hustle and bustle of life when you need it.
It's great to share our dream with our guests and we love seeing guests return to Meadowbeck - even the Swallows return year after year!

What makes this property unique

Meadowbeck Holiday Cottages are in a great location. Stunning countryside and moorland views, as well as the beautiful coastline - what more is there?
Easy to access just off the main A171 Scarborough to Whitby road, yet in a quiet, peaceful area within the North Yorkshire Moors.
All accommodation has views of open countryside & the sea. There is an abundance of wildlife on our doorstep and the lack of light pollution gives us some amazing night skies - perfect for star gazing. We regualrly feed the birds, so that guests can enjoy their antics on the birdfeeders and nesting boxes.
Easy access by car or bus (from the top of our lane) to a number of quaint villages and coastal towns.
There is plenty of free parking directly outside of the cottages for easy access.
We're doing our bit to take care of the environment and have an energy efficient heating source, solar panels and our water is provided from a natural spring. Our meadow is organic with an abundance of wildflowers and we manage our woodland area to encourage the wildlife.
Electric Vehicle Charger for guests use - fees apply.
Storage for cycles.
Public Footpath with walks to the moors and coast - straight from the accommodation.
Guests Games Room onsite.
Fresh free range eggs from our hens, when available.
Outside dog wash with hot & cold water.
