Peaceful retreat

Fabulous little place to stay, nice & peaceful & not far from where we wanted to visit. The owner left us a little welcome package of bacon, eggs, bread, butter, marmalade, orange juice, tea, coffee, sugar & milk which was great.

A real woodland retreat

We really enjoyed our stay at the Woodland Retreat. We only gave a 3 for cleanliness because my wife had to remove so much ice from the icebox that the door would not close properly. Similarly the 3 we gave for the kitchen was because it did need a thorough clean and updating. It was also a pity that the outside table and chairs were old and rusty. But despite all of that we would recommend it. It’s in a lovely spot and if our observations are heeded it can only get better.

Very good short break

Comfortable and fun place to stay, only drawback was the cooker which took ages, but we were not in a hurry,

Weekend Break

In general the property is a nice location for a quiet weekend away. Unfortunately - the bed is not a king sized - but two singles pushed together and due to the layout of the bedroom it isn't easy to comfortably sit up in bed. The cooking facilities are not as implied in the description. It isn't possible to have both 'hobs' and the oven on at the same time - nor is it possible to control the temperature of the hobs thereby limiting the cooking opportunities. Clients are asked to take their rubbish home with them.

Woodland retreat lodge

My stay at the woodland retreat lodge was very nice and was good to have a short brake away from reality. The pubs served amazing food but if you plan on cooking maybe just small easy meals as it is not a proper oven and hob. The place was very cozy with amazing views and lots to do round there. However if you use you’re phone a lot then just have data as there was very weak or no WiFi which we wasn't fussed by, other than that we had an amazing brake away and would definitely recommend.

A Peaceful Retreat

On arrival we were surprised and disappointed to find this ‘woodland retreat’ to be sited on the gravel driveway of a house which directly overlooked it. Woods were off to left and although pretty they formed the personal space around the shepherds hut. We arrived on a cold day and the place was very cold and the hot water did not run long enough for two to have a shower. The pub recommended for dinner was fully booked so we cooked in the retreat. That said we loved the place it’s peaceful location the decor and cleanliness and the passion with which the owner wants to provide a great stay. Breakfast provided all in the fridge beautiful, toiletries beautiful and towel super soft. All the cleaning products you need WiFi and 4g. Despite the chilly arrival we would love to stay again.
