The modern open plan kitchen and living area is deceptively spacious and is complemented by two comfortable bedrooms including an en-suite master bedroom. The picturesque village has its own stores, traditional pubs, tea rooms and a famous local butchers which are all within walking distance of your front door.
The North York Moors Steam Railway regularly passes through the village train station and there is a fabulous walk into neighbouring Whitby shadowing the train tracks through Briggswath and Ruswarp making it a lovely route. The River Esk is the only river in Yorkshire inhabited by salmon and there is an actual salmon leap where at the right time of year you will see them jumping up the ledge in the water and heading to their breeding ground.
Briggswath has a fabulous boating lake and café as well as an 18-hole putting green. The fascinating town of Whitby is where the River Esk meets the sea and is famous for its gothic links to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. There are many events and festivals all year round such as the bi-annual Goth Weekender, a regatta and many more. Climb the 199 steps up to the abbey and enjoy the views over the town and out to sea, roam the cobbled backstreets taking in the sights and smells of this ancient part of town. Take a ride on the open top bus or head out to sea on search of minke whale, seals and dolphins, or just enjoy watching the world go by in one of the many tearooms, coffee shops and delis in the town. There is a 1½ mile stretch of golden sands forming parts of the Cleveland Way towards Sandsend or head south along the Cinder Track towards Robin Hood’s Bay and the Victorian seaside town of Scarborough.
Scarborough has its North and South Bays with vast beaches, as well as a Sealife Centre, a water park and the open air theatre boasting some top international acts and artists throughout the summer. Head inland and explore the natural beauty of the North York Moors National Park with an abundance of walking and cycling routes, ancient abbeys and pretty villages offering a warm welcome and homemade food. The Hideaway is a wonderful base to enjoy everything this wonderful part of North Yorkshire has to offer. There is even a bus stop for the bus from Whitby to Pickering which has been voted the most scenic bus route in Britain which takes in villages such as Grosmont and Goathland on its way to Pickering. Beach 4 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
