Old Midoxgate Farmhouse is a very attractive, detached, old stone farmhouse, set amidst open countryside in the heart of rural Ross-shire. Set in its own beautiful country garden, with wide lawns surrounded by mature flowering shrubs and borders, it provides ideal accommodation for a country holiday in a lovely quiet setting. The house has been in the same family for over a hundred years and the current custodians have retained its original charm whilst updating the facilities to modern standards. The main living room is bright and spacious with large original windows looking out across the superb gardens to the fields beyond. A sun room provides an ideal place for relaxing whilst planning the next day’s excursion. There is a large, fully fitted kitchen with a solid wood dining table for up to four guests. An original and traditional staircase leads up to three attractively presented bedrooms. There is a shower room on this floor and a family-sized wet room with bath and shower on the ground floor.
The farmhouse is situated just off the lane in the hamlet of Midoxgate and the small village of Fearn is ½ mile further along. There are lovely country walks direct from the property and numerous places of interest in the area. The pretty seaboard villages of Balintore and Shandwick, with their wide sandy beaches, attractive harbours and pretty stone cottages, are just 5 minutes’ drive away. The house is also close to the renowned North Coast 500 route. Golfers are spoilt for choice, with traditional and well known links courses at Royal Dornoch, Tain, Golspie and Brora. Wildlife is abundant in the area. Deer, pine marten, rare osprey and red kites are all seen locally and dolphins, seals and porpoises can be spotted along the coastline. The area is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Cycling, hill walking, fishing, horse riding, sailing, canoeing and surfing are all enjoyed locally. Within 10 minutes’ drive lies the oldest Royal Burgh of Scotland. Predominantly built of local mellow sandstone, Tain is a charming historic town and offers an excellent selection of small shops, restaurants, cafès and pubs, as well as a wide variety of sporting and recreational facilities. Beach 3 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub 3 miles and restaurant 2 miles.
