About this property

Finest Retreats | Tegannedd

The Grade II listed cottage is a former shooting residence of the Earl of Marlborough. The building dates back to the 1700s and has retained many of it original features but has recently undergone a thorough modernisation. The original slate floor in the kitchen and huge inglenook fireplace provide a cosy setting for a family get together in front of the wood-burning stove. The private hot tub in the enclosed garden with views out over the valley provide a great setting any time of the year.

Cosy cottage, beautifully decorated, would stay here again.

The hot tub, log burner and comfy bedding were all great to have. There were a few finishes that weren’t perfect, like the tap didn’t work in the bath (used the shower head instead) and there weren’t loads of mugs- fine for us as only two adults but if the cottage had been full we’d have had to do a lot of washing up!

Perfect size for our group (3 people). Clean, easy to use instructions and lovely cottage. Great location for restaurants, the coast and Snowdonia National Park.

Great base for a group of 6 to explore the area and climb Snowdon.

Hot tub was great to relax in after a day of walking. Had a lovely meal at the pub across the road. The first night we were there all the smoke alarms kept going off every 10 minutes…..after about 2 hours we were able to get in contact with someone to sort it out, they were very responsive!

What a great find! We had a great long weekend here with friends and our little ones

What a great find! We had a great long weekend here with friends and our little ones. Great location for exploring, and food shops and pubs nearby. The house had everything we needed, including a hot tub with views of the Welsh countryside! Would highly recommend. Our only regret is we didn’t stay for longer.

Beautifully renovated cottage to explore the north of Wales from.

The hot tub in the backyard is well concealed and offers a great view. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. The beds are good. No toilet on the ground floor and a shower close to the hot tub would be convenient (there is enough space to realize that). The house is very comfortable for two persons, also suitable for four, but definitely not for six, although it has six beds. The cottage is quite pricy.

Highly recommend!

The house is very well presented with the added bonus of the hot tub (with amazing views). Location excellent for the 2 x Zip World sites we visited and Harlech Beach! We had a great time here and would definitely return / recommend to friends. It would have been 5* from me if there had been a welcome pack, i.e Milk, Bread, Bottle of wine etc... I would have expected this based on the cost of the property for 4 days.

The location is perfect, beautiful setting in amongst the hills. Well equipped property, had everything we needed. Mould on walls in bedroom, hot tap in bathroom drips and spa pool filter change was 4 days overdue on arrival. As an old property you expect uneven floor boards and worn furnishings, but a lot of dust on surfaces and window seats, curtains and cushions could do with a clean.

Warm and comfortable cottage in beautiful countryside

Comfortable beds, great hot tub and well equipped. Kitchen utensils and oven and some plates were dirty. Black bin liner in toilet waste bin. Broken toilet seat. Grime around outside of shower.

The accommodation was lovely and comfortable.

Located across the road from a community ran pub and t the heart of some amazing walks with beautiful waterfalls. Hot tub was lovely especially after the walks. Comfortable bedding and great kitchen diner space. We came as a family of 6 adults so we mainly used the kitchen as the lounge area had limited seating for 6 people but the kitchen was comfortable enough. The only main down side was the communication from Finest Retreats, it all came across quite regimented and negative there were many ….can’t do this……Do not do that…. then we were up and ready to leave on our last day to get a final message that we had already been told prior to our visit explaining we need to be out by 10am any lateness will result in a delay for the cleaner and further charges will be added to our card sadly this left a bad taste to such a lovely break.

North Wales

We found the communication very good. There were a few issues we are Australian and used to shops being open Sundays. Fortunately we were pre warned about North Wales so we had done some basic. shopping tea milk etc. as there where no provisions at all at the accom. Also when we went to fill the kettle the tap blew off! So not a great start! The house was very clean and close to the places we were visiting. We were comfortable the internet worked well. In my opinion the owner needs to say there are no provisions left at the house. As if you didn’t know arriving with no milk tea and biscuits. Would be a big disappointment

The description and pictures of the cottage are accurate we had a wonderful few day's stay in this cosy, well-equipped cottage in a fantastic location for sight-seeing/activities in beautiful Snowdonia. The hot tub was wonderful after a day's walking, and it was handy having a nice pub/hotel to eat at, literally across the road, after a long drive to get to the property.

Wonderful house in Ffestiniog

Everything about the house is exactly as advertised. It is very clean, the hot tub is such a treat, and the location is fairly central to a number of great activities. The owner is very responsive. If you are planning a trip to Ffestiniog, I highly recommend this property.

Lovely house with a great hot tub (but bring everything else!)

Beautiful Bathroom Hot tub Central location Easy free parking Good bed Kitchen should have some basics (cooking oil, coffee, tea, etc). There weren’t even any dishwasher tablets so everything had to be washed by hand or we had to buy them ourselves.

Amazing cottage

We had such a lovely stay here this weekend! As a family of 5 there was plenty of room for everyone. All the facilities were perfect! The cottage was clean and the rooms were a great size! Was a great location for zip world and snowdon! Would definitely stay here again! Thank you. One extra bathroom / toilet would have been handy!

Why they chose this property

The cottage is perfectly located for loads of activities - there's the slate caverns and zip world attractions only a few miles away and there are some stunning walks right from the front door. The property has recently been refurbished to a very high standard in December 2018 and the hot tub and log fires add a fantastic bonus to the house.
