A gorgeous cottage right next to the river
This is the second time we have visited DunedIn Cottage. Last year we stayed with family, this year we went with friends. The location is superb - as long as you are fit. Parking on the beach to load / unload is easy, but you need to check the tide and be confident driving through narrow lanes. We particularly liked going on the ferry to Dartmouth, or across to Greenways, there are great walks for the dog on either side of the river - once she had got use to the ferry. The house is perfect for groups of 6, with the garden cabin allowing seclusion, the family kitchen when we did decide to eat in, and the massive lounge with such great views. We will be back next year.

Short stay
We had a lovely stay at the cottage which looks straight across the river Dart. Getting your luggage to and from the property takes a little effort as parking is a distance from the cottage. Overall a lovely place to stay.

Perfect cottage
Everything about this cottage was brilliant. The waterfront location is stunning. It’s rare for me to want to go back somewhere but I was immediately searching for dates for a return visit.

Peaceful cottage by the Estuary
Thanks for a wonderful long weekend at Dunedin. The cottage is beautifully equipped with sumptuous mattresses, and a fully kitted kitchen. The views from the front are devine and there’s everything you need to make your stay memorable.

Lovely house
Stunning house in superb location. Parking is difficult with a steep walk to the car park. For peace and tranquility this house couldn’t get any better with the harbour ideal for padddle boarding

Very average
I will review as per my ratings. We had to wash eveything in the kitchen before use as it was filthy. Only 2 tea towels for a week? Rest of property generally clean but cobwebs and dust everywhere hence score of 3. Beds comfortable but sofas not. All linen and towels are obviously commercial contract. General condition of property is average certainly not in the luxury market but the price is, so not value for money. Location is fantastic and you would struggle to get better. Overall i would not stay in Dittisham again. The local pub is crap and all it serves is pizza and only 5 days a week. Its a bit clicky and some of the locals are a bit rude. However walk up to the red lion and you will get decent food and the people are lovely. The major issue is this being advertised as dog freindly. Its not. The owners are dilusional if they think it is. Dogs are aloud on the ground floor only which is just an empty room. You then wonder how you let the dogs in the garden as its off the kitchen on 2nd floor. Well you dont because dogs are not allowed in the garden. They expect you to go and find a bit of countryside everytime your dog wants a pee which impossible if the tide is in. Absolutely ridiculous. This is not made clear on the website. I will also make clear Dart valley were good and everyone i spoke to very helpful and polite.

Our favourite spot
This is our fifth visit to Dittisham and Dunedin Cottage is the perfect base from which to watch the kids paddleboard (thanks to Lee @ Dittisham Boats) or sail (thanks to Kate @ Marshall Sailing). Lunch at the Anchorstone as delicious as always and other refreshments from the FBI. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped and the downstairs wet room a real bonus. We couldn’t love it more! Slightly gutted that it is already fully booked next summer!!!

A week at Dunedin Cottage
This was a great house for our group of 8. We had sunny weather and enjoyed being so close to the water. The children enjoyed crabbing, paddle boarding and swimming from the front of the house. The village was busy but had a relaxed atmosphere. We managed to park easily enough in the village car park. We didn’t bring our dogs despite the house being advertised as dog friendly. Dogs are only allowed in one room of the house and it’s not a room that you would sit or spend any length of time in. The house was well equipped and very comfortable. We would love to stay again.

Dittisham Holiday
We had a fantastic holiday in Dittisham staying at Dunedin Cottage - the cottage is very well equipped. The wet room and downstairs area is a boon if you are spending time on the water.... which we did. It's great there for swimming off the quay when the tide is right, and we hired Kayaks from Lee on the Jetty which were a great success. We also took an inflatable and a paddle board which we were able to tie up on the quay outside the cottage. We made some friends of other guests along the quay and the atmosphere was really friendly and fun. We had great weather and were able to take all our meals outside on the quay, some of which were provided by The Ferry Boat Inn who make excellent take away pizzas! A great family holiday. Thank you

Great to be able to stay at Dunedin Cottage.
Dunedin is just perfect for a family gathering of four generations although the stairs are a challenge for older folk. Great beds! Good kitchen equipment and fab position with lovely sunny garden as a bonus. Dogs may get a bit lonely as they must remain downstairs so needs to be considered if you normally have them with you all the time. I love this house and hope to return. Thanks to all involved.

Lovely location
Dunedin Cottage is in the most lovely location, it's beautiful. The house itself is comfortable and it's great having a garden at the back. Inside, it was not clean throughout and the kitchen had a lot of things that were worn out/ chipped and/ or not clean. I realise that it has not been used very much in 2020 but it would have been nice for the freezers to have been turned on before our visit, for example!

Have stayed here before. Provides very good accommodation. In excellent riverside position. On a nice day great to sit outside looking at all the activity. It is just starting to look a little tired in some areas. Shame there was no corkscrew and the wet room loo had a missing push button.

Location location!
We’ve dreamed of staying in Dittisham and this was the best cottage for location! Amazing views and enjoyed the cottage so much. A really brilliant week away. Morning sun out the front and evening sun in the back garden. Just perfect and very dog friendly. Ticked all the boxes and we will be back!

Please give beautiful Dunedin Cottage some TLC
We have stayed in Dunedin Cottage as a family several times over the last 10 years - it is in such a beautiful position on the waterfront in Dittisham - perfect for crabbing, lunch at the Anchorstone Cafe and boat trips to Dartmouth. The garden at the back is well maintained and lovely to sit in and enjoy the afternoon sun. The inside of the house is now unfortunately looking very tired and in need of a deep clean - all bathrooms need an upgrade, the sofas are dirty and the kitchen needs an uplift. Please give this beautiful house some TLC so we come again.

Great location and comfortable house

Fabulous location, now ready for some TLC
Our family has stayed here many times over the past 10 years. However Dunedin is now getting very tired inside. The sofas are very aged and now very uncomfortable, the freezer is just too small and totally unsuitable for a family of 8 people. The washing machine doesnt work and an engineer could not come out until after our stay, the alternative offered was to take washing to a property at the top of the village, this is totally unacceptable due to the location. Please take note and give Dunedin some TLC as it is in one of the most beautiful places you could ever wish to spend your holiday.

Fantastic location, large comfortable property with a wonderful garden lodge and views
We did park on the shore but if you pack carefully and there are enough of you a few trips along the river bed will take you to the car park and back, loo rolls etc all provided so just food and bits needed. We had a few wet days but its lovely to sit upstairs playing games whilst the rain beats down, we also sat in the lower room with our tea and looked out when it was bad using the outside chairs which we made sure were dry first it worked very well. There are a lot of stairs so you will definitely come home fit. The gardens are extremely well looked after and the views from the garden lodge veranda are fantastic, a real sun spot. You must go across to Greenway and of course the Anchorstone and FBI. If you haven't been to Dittisham you really should, it is the most relaxing place, leave the car for a week and use the water taxi - just perfect but don't tell everyone we will never get in!!

Paradise
Dittisham is idyllic and the cottage is in a prime position on the quayfront. Very comfortable although we had to supplement the glasses and cutlery with purchases . The location and stairs would not suit those with mobility issues as the car must be parked far away and the stairs are steep but it was fine for us as we abandoned the car for a week and traveled around on the numerous ferries up and down the Dart and ate at the excellent nearby Anchorstone Cafe ( fish restaurant) . Our second trip and we have booked again for next year.

Mr Ian Wilford
Once again we have had a lovely waterside holiday. Dunedin has great facilities and we return to Dittisham every year. I personally find small things irritating such as the poor condition of some of the tea mugs with chips and cracks-----hardly what should be provided within such a high spec holiday house. If you fancy a Brew, you'll need gloves on, as the handle on the stainless steel teapot gets burning hot.! Apart from these small niggles, an outstanding property we all love to come to.

Very comfortable house in excellent location. Pay attention to access as you can only get cars to the house at low tide. All part of Dittisham experience. GREAT!
