It's well described. The Hills are kind and welcoming and their hamper was terrific. We had dogs, who also enjoyed their stay!

Rural relaxation

A beautiful rural spot complete with tennis court. Complimentary breakfast pack was amazing and very welcome as no shops nearby. The barn has been beautifully converted. Lovely little garden to sit out in and admire the fields and cows nearby. So many wonderful pubs and walks around this area too

Fallen in love with South Downs, and Rubens Barn

We arrived super-stressed on a wet, dark, foggy November evening, having driven from Gatwick in a car that for us was on the wrong side of the road. No real idea where we were when we arrived, but the barn was warm and cosy with welcoming lights on... We tucked up with a bottle of wine, then fell into the comfortable double bed. Could not believe it the next morning when we opened the curtains to say hello to the sheep in the field next door, and the sun glinting on the autumn foliage of the trees. Rubens Barn is exactly as you see it in the advert, tastefully furnished, and extremely comfortable. Lovely big warm showers (such a joy) and a bath as well if you wanted to relax into that. The welcome pack was very generous. We appreciated the thoughtful little touch of a torch to see us back down the lane from the pub. The owners were helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. They had recommended we go to the Bonfire Night in East Dean, that was a real treat - a drink at the local pub, then warmed by the most perfect bonfire, followed by fireworks. Such a lovely tradition, and Sussex is the very best place to experience it! We were here for a wedding in nearby Upwaltham Barns, a lovely setting for the event. As we explored, we just fell in love with the area, and were so pleased we had decided to rent the barn for a week to add a short holiday to the wedding trip - pity we had not decided to add a fortnight! Chichester is a lovely town, the nearby West Wittering beach provided a long, if bracing, winter walk, and we explored West Dean Gardens and the Petworth Estate, in between drinks and wonderful food at several local pubs. For a holiday cottage, the layout is just lovely. We were there as a couple, but our son and girlfriend joined us for one night over the weekend. The room upstairs has two single beds, so not ideal for a couple, but a lovely bathroom with a large roll-top bath - girlfriend loved that. Not a huge amount of storage up there, and no hanging space - but for a short trip that is not an issue. The unusual part of Rubens Barn is that you enter through the master bedroom - you open the entrance door and are straight into the bedroom. Husband thought that rather odd... certainly makes you keep the bedroom tidy! Do hope that we make it back one day.... If you are thinking of this for your holiday, don't hesitate, you will love it.

Peace and tranquility in five star accommodation

Our second stay in this fabulous converted barn. The owners have thought of every last detail to ensure maximum comfort and total relaxation. High quality bed linens and towels and extremely well equipped kitchen all in the most idyllic surroundings imaginable. You can go for long walks straight from the Barn and Chichester is only a 15 minute drive. Rob and Rachel went out of their way to make us feel incredibly welcome and were able to give us lots of advice on attractions in the area. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Wishing we stayed longer!

We had a lovely few days at Ruebens Barn. Rachel and Rob were great! The provisions they supplied were by far the most generous of any other accommodation we've let! Our grandson had a great time using the tennis court and the 3 bathrooms made getting ready very easy with 5 of us in the let. Also have to recommend the Star and Garter in East Dean.

Five star cottage in peaceful surroundings

My family and I enjoyed an incredibly relaxing few days staying at Rubens Barn. The cottage is extremely well equipped with high quality bedding and wonderfully soft towels. The kitchen had everything we needed and the owners had gone beyond our expectations to make sure we had everything we could possibly want for a delicious breakfast. The cottage was perfectly situated in the midst of the beautiful, peaceful countryside but very close to Chichester. The owners were so welcoming and helpful. We will definitely be coming back.

Charming property in the depths of British country

We had a great time, relaxing, away from it all, but near enough to visit, Arundel, Chichester, and great local pubs. We were surrounded by glorious countryside, saw pheasants, deer, and birds, all by looking out of our window. Great walks( (you could walk forever), completely relaxed, and ready to return to London refreshed! Lovely stay and highly recommend.

Fantastic Little Holiday Cottage

We have recently returned from a short stay at Ruben's Barn. The Barn is perfectly situated for exploring the area and the owners, Rachel & Rob, provided some excellent recommendations for beaches, museums and restaurants which were indeed great. The cottage is beautifully appointed and very well looked after. The little extras (toiletries and hamper) were a bonus too. Highly recommended!

Top of the charts for next year

This being our first time going off the hotel trail in the South/South West of the UK on our travels we were excited to see what Rubens Barn had to offer. The property didn't disappoint. It was beautifully finished off to a high standard and had all the modern facilities you would want in a rental/hotel room. The real charming aspect was the bath in the converted attic space, you could sit and read while soaking in the bath and hear the world go by, and with the week that was in it the odd sportscar. We stayed in Rubens Barn as our base for the festival of speed and were delighted at how close it was to the Goodwood Estate. We hope to stay again soon for next years Revival Festival and Festival of Speed. A must stay for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the City and looking to recharge their batteries.
