Winter fun at Capone house

The home is comfortable and warm for our 6 adult & 5 children's yearly winter fun. Hosts are responsive, helpful, prompt, and nice. Everything we need (except food & drink) are provided. We create and enjoy our own sled run on the property. We stay cozy inside playing games and being together creating memories.

Weekend Stay

The house was clean and the location is great. The kids had a great time and especially enjoyed the loft. The only complaint that we had was the beds, the mattresses seemed old and were not comfortable. But other than that we really enjoyed our stay there.

Cross country ski get together

Fantastic in every way. Ski out the door up the hills behind. Cross the road to ski on the lake. All five bedrooms fine with 4 of them very nice. 4 of us used the skis provided. Book collection good. (Didn’t find any games or puzzles so bring them if you want) Kitchen very nicely equipped. Nice big oven. Lots of pans

First Stay at a VRBO

I was a little apprehensive about our stay since I had never stayed at a VRBO before and had no idea what to do or expect. Before I booked, I was messaging questions to the owner and she was extremely helpful which made me comfortable enough to book. The communication from the beginning to the end was top notch. It was exactly as presented, fit all of us (14) ranging from adults, pre-teen, kids and baby, comfortably. The snow was in abundance and we all had a great time. We definitely planning on doing this again and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Daughter

My daughter (in her late 20's) stayed with some friends from out of town to celebrate her birthday. The place was in a great location and very close to several local outings. The place was clean and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this place for a large group. Had everything needed to make the weekend special.

Grandson Cried When it was Time to Leave

We had three generations stay at the Capone cabin this weekend. It was our third time using this comfortable cabin, located in the midst of the Sierra Nevada's natural wonders. A beautiful lake to canoe/kayak, a charming swimming beach and park area, and quiet rural lanes to ride on bicycle. Everyone had a great time, and we were all sad to leave.

We enjoyed our stay at the Capone Getaway. This 5 bedroom/3 bathroom house plus a loft provided plenty of space for our family gathering. The kitchen is filled with everything we needed plus some. The location was perfect for us in Soda Springs. A few drawbacks were: (1) The cabin entry was very icy so we had to remove and de-ice the iced over rubber mats before our family arrived so no one would slip getting into the cabin; (2) Some of the beds were too soft and pillows should be replaced; and (3) There was a whole checklist that we had to complete before leaving, which seemed excessive. Otherwise, it was a fabulous long weekend.

Great location for beginner skiers

My family of 5 adults and 6 children stayed for 3 nights. It was perfect for us all. Kids loved having their own space in the loft. The place was clean and with a well equipped kitchen. We all had fun shedding on the Property behind the house. We skied at Donner Ski Ranch which was perfect for our beginner skiers and only 11 minutes away. Plenty of room for 3 cars in the driveway. Roads were well plowed since we received about 3 feet of snow over our three nights there. We may rent this property again in the summer since it is across the street from the lake. Glad we brought all our food because I don’t believe there is a major grocery store near by. The place is well used and well loved and very comfortable for us. It was a perfect winter getaway for our family.

Family vacation in winter wonderland!

We had a lovely time at the Capone cabin. There were plenty of rooms and beds for everyone. The house had plenty of dishes and silverware, lots of extra blankets, and a real homey feeling. We had so much fun making our own toboggan run on the property which was just as good as the lot across from the snow park. The snow park was very close by also, but we didn't waste our money tubbing there. We took a walk through the neighborhood on the relatively flat, plowed roads. Lots of families were out walking and walking their dogs. One reason we picked this cabin was because we planned to put Grandma on the deck so she could watch the kids play in the snow. We shoveled a path for her and she was able to enjoy the activities as well. We hope to come back in the summer to enjoy the lake and we have already penciled in some days next winter. Thank you Cynthia for sharing your mountain home with us.

Excellent for 4 families with kids

The house had everything we needed, kids enjoyed bunkbeds , lower floor was great for family which brought grandparents. There was enough plates cups etc for our large group. Particularly liked mult hooks on walls in bedrooms to hang ski clothes to dry. Dining table was impressively sufficient for mult adults.

3 night stay…..10 friends attending a destination wedding.

We really only slept at the Capone house for three nights as we were attending a weekend wedding and attending related events all day and evening, each day. The house was very clean and had all amenities. We are sorry we didn’t have time to enjoy the canoe, kayak and bikes. This is an older home and dated but accommodated 10 adults very nicely. Loved enjoying my early morning coffee sitting on the deck watching the sunrise over the lake. The only suggestion I would make would be to replace the towels. Those in the house are very old and rough in texture. Oh and the bear box was completely full when we arrived. We didn’t cook so luckily we had little garbage. Thank you for sharing your home.

As a busy, active family from the Bay Area, we crave escapes to the mountains. That's why we created our haven in Soda Springs – a place to recharge and reconnect. We love spending time outdoors, and hiking, mountain biking, trail running, road running, and skiing are all easily accessible from our doorstep. Our spacious house is perfect for sharing this passion with others, offering plenty of room for multiple families to relax and reconnect after a day of adventure. We're excited to offer this incredible experience and a taste of our mountain life.

Why they chose this property

We chose this area because it's a virtually unknown gem. Nestled amongst the towering pines of the Sierra Nevada, overlooking the tranquil waters of Serene Lake, lies a peaceful community offering respite from the Tahoe bustle and Bay Area. It's aptly named Serene Lakes, as a sense of calm pervades the air. Here, you can simply walk across the street and launch a kayak, paddle board, or canoe, or cast a line and wait for a bite. While we love relaxing on the deck and soaking in the scenery, the abundance of outdoor activities beckons us to explore.

What makes this property unique

What makes Serene Lakes truly unique is the way it seamlessly blends exhilarating adventure with peaceful tranquility. Yes, our visits are packed with thrills - downhill skiing, laughter-filled sledding, peaceful cross-country skiing, and invigorating hikes. But the real magic happens when we slow down. It's the mountain biking trails right out the back door, the cool mountain air on our faces during a run, and the refreshing dips in the lake after a day of exploring. Evenings are spent sharing stories and laughter over dinners on the deck, all while soaking in the breathtaking views. This effortless blend of excitement and serenity is what makes it the perfect place to reconnect with loved ones and truly unwind.
