It’s a nice, quiet neighborhood with friendly chickens in the backyard. We enjoyed the quirky charm inside while we relaxed after our excursions to Acadia National Park.
It was a lovely vacation at a great place! It was so easy to get to from BGR Airport, and so centrally located that it was easy taking day trips south and north along the coast without fighting all the crowds and traffic. And the place was lovely—by far the nicest experience we’ve had with a VRBO property. The hosts are wonderful people, and they’ve maintained their property with great care. The house was extremely comfortable in all aspects.
Many thanks again for having us!!
Well positioned home, to explore the national park, with plenty of facilities/eateries nearby
Quiet location/ area off a side road away from the main road. Country style decor. Very well equipped - eg kitchen has all the appliances you will need and more, and shower gel, shampoo etc were all provided which we didn’t expect. Shower was over the bath but water pressure and heat were good. Nice outdoor space. Enjoyed seeing the chickens outside! Good information folder. Didn’t see the owners but they were happy to receive messages and respond if we needed to contact them. A little dusty in places but otherwise nice and clean. Plenty of room for the 4of us in the 3 bedrooms. A very nice stay.
Wonderful, comfortable, home with beautiful backyard. Very friendly hosts that thought of everything. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.
It was a very nice old fashioned house. Denise was very helpful, especially when we had a little mix up in the beginning with a playpen for my baby. But we got it all figured out! All in all a very nice place to lay your head!
Loved Our Stay In Ellsworth!
The home was Clean and Roomy!
We Loved being so close to downtown Ellsworth and a 35 minute drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor.
Home was Comfortable and Well Stocked!
The house is old. In our eyes, that’s a beautiful thing! It is updated to include everything you would need. If you have balance issues (elderly, use a a cane, etc.,) it may have some tripping hazards due to natural, time driven unevenness of floors. The house was clean and very well appointed. We had everything needed and then some. It is conveniently located and was a pleasure to stay. Would stay there again without question.
There was a mixup at checking that was quickly straightened out. After that, everything was great. The property was extremely clean and comfortable with more amenities and complimentary gifts than expected. It is a good spot from which to explore the Acadia area. The information in the binder provided was very helpful. Ellsworth itself has few dining options due to some restaurant closures, but being close to Dorr lobster was a treat. Highly recommended.
The history behind this house was fascinating.. The location was convenient to Acadia National Park and places Downeast. It was comfortable, and the hosts, Denise and David made us feel very welcome.
Great location to Bar Harbor without the Bar Harbor cost! Easy to Acadia and other sight seeing places. The property was so country charming and the house was vintage cute. Highly recommend.
Denise was super nice and quick to respond to questions. There was some trouble with the vrbo app but Denise was really helpful through that and made sure I had the checkin info I needed before we showed up despite the technical hiccups. There were fresh eggs and pie waiting for us when we arrived too, which was such a sweet touch, and they make their own maple syrup from trees in their yard which they shared with us, super tasty! She also talked to us during our stay about great food places (Helen's in Machias has the best blueberry pie EVER) and bike trails. They are right on the Downeast Sunrise Trail, you can ride right onto it and down the street to the grocery store, a gas station/convenience store, Dunkin's, and even downtown Ellsworth. The house was spacious, very clean, and super comfortable. We sat out on the inviting porch every night. Her guide book has awesome recommendations and explains everything really clearly. We absolutely loved our stay!

About the host
Hosted by Denise Hue
We enjoy the outdoors as much as our work schedule allows. Maine offers so many great areas to explore hiking, boating, hunting, biking, skiing, bird watching, fishing. Nature never fails to provide constant entertainment. While at home, we garden for fresh veggies, apples and berries. We also tend our small flock of chickens and ducks for fresh eggs every morning and have a flight pen for chukar partridges. We are training our hunting dogs, two Brittanys who share our love for the outdoors. You might find us in the backyard in the winter months boiling down maple syrup or in the summer planting flowers and vegetables.
Why they chose this property
Denise is a certified public accountant and David is a jeweler. Together with David's brother, we own a store in Downtown Ellsworth on the Union River. We love living on this beautiful Ellsworth Falls property because it is the perfect blend of town and country living. Although it's a five minute drive to work, we get to enjoy our spacious lawns, gardens and forests.
We have been landlords for 23 years for year round rentals and have converted some units on our large campus to offer as fully furnished rentals. We have spent a great deal of time outfitting our places so they would be comfortable and convenient.
What makes this property unique
The house is located in a residential neighborhood and is part of a large campus of homes, gardens and forest also owned by the hosts.
If you have a large party such as a wedding, please ask us about our other vacation rentals that share a common backyard. We have two other houses and an executive apartment available.
The walk/bike trail head (rail to trail) is nearby that connects Ellsworth Falls to Downtown Ellsworth. 11 minutes by bike and 35 minutes on foot.
The Friends and Family Market (and Shell gas station) is about five minutes on foot.
Our favorite spot is Dorr's Fish Market across the street. They will cook lobsters for you so you can avoid the fuss or sample their delicious lobster rolls.
