Cortijo la tenada is a rural eco-friendly house split into comfortable and peaceful fully-equipped apartments.

El Cortijo was restored in 2010 following the principles of bio-climatic architecture and using environmentally friendly materials. The hot water and underfloor heating are powered by solar panels. The water from the shower is purified and used to irrigate the garden.

El Cortijo is located in the heart of the Cabo de Gata- Nijar Natural Park, Andalusia, a 15 minutes drive from beautiful unspoilt beaches.

This is a very special place, nestled in a landscape characterised by gentle slopes and hills dyed in warm earth colours with soft green vegetation. Here everything is quiet, calm and peaceful, but also breathes energy and life.

Unfortunately this was not our sort of holiday.

We arrived in Almeria with only one suitcase, Got in our Hired Car which is a must !! We were not given Directions to our place, so before we left home we had to Google maps and take with us, these directions were of no use, It took us hours, eventually Umberto came and met us and we followed him to the Property. On arrival we had No Air Conditioning and No fan, It must have been 40 Degrees in the Apartment and its a Solid Concrete Apartment and we couldn't open the Main Windows as there were lots of Flies about. There was No Cold Water in the Fridge in Fact I am not sure the Fridge was even on, We were advised to drink the Tap water, This is literally on Arrival. So we had to go off and Get Geoff some shorts due to no luggage and a Electric Fan to cool the room down and get some Bottled Water. Baring in Mind we had been on the Road since 3.30 am this is now 4 pm in the afternoon trying to find the nearest Shopping Town to get Food as well; as there are No local shops or Bars. The Scenery is Beautiful you feel like your in the Desert which is great. The Pool Area is very small and it;s mainly Occupied by Families, again Not what My Husband and I wanted as we were expecting a Quiet Rural Retreat, There are Plenty of Beaches to Visit they are Busy and some are very hard to Access especially West of San Jose. Umberto and his Family were All very Kind and Helpful. If you have booked a Vacation be aware that it is Very Rural and Very Basic, but pleasant.

Nos ha encantado

Buena casa, amplia, cuidada, limpia, cómoda y, con decoración sencilla y agradable. Hemos estado 5 amigos durante 3 días y nos ha encantado a todos. Para volver seguro. Los dueños, también han sido encantadores y amables. Está en medio de la nada, se ha de llegar con localizador, sobre todo si llegas de noche, pero ahí está parte de su encanto, que estás en medio de la naturaleza. De todos modos nada queda lejos. Estoy segura que volveremos, pues el cabo de Gata se lo merece.

Un lugar especial

Elegimos este alojamiento buscando un lugar tranquilo y un poco aislado pero bien comunicado y fue un acierto total. En pocos sitios nos hemos sentido tan relajados como aquí. El cortijo está en medio de la naturaleza sin ninguna edificación alrededor. Es un placer sentarte por las noches a contemplar el inmenso cielo estrellado y disfrutar del silencio. Las instalaciones son tal como las muestran las fotografías. Los apartamentos muy amplios, decorados con gusto, muy luminosos y frescos. Las camas son comodísimas y la cocina tenía el menaje necesario y productos básicos (aceite, vinagre, sal, azúcar, especias…) que se agradece no tener que comprar para una estancia corta. Los propietarios son muy cálidos y atentos a lo que puedas necesitar, pero al mismo tiempo, discretos y respetuosos de tu intimidad. Acabamos de regresar y ya estamos buscando un hueco en el calendario para volver. Saludos de Teresa y Jorge y uno especial de Iria para Nuno y Leo.

Descrubrir Cabo de Gata a lo Grande

Desde que abandonas la carretera para acercarte al cortijo te metes en el ambiente de tranquilidad que luego se confirma al llegar donde te reciben con mucha amabilidad. Paisajes preciosos al atardecer ,entorno que invita al relajarte y disfrutar de la naturaleza. Excursiones cortas porque todo está muy cerca ,lo que te permite ver mucho en poco tiempo y volver luego a una casa totalmente equipada. Inolvidable experiencia familiar y al marcharte no dejas a un propietario sino que él y su familia ya son tus amigos. Lo hemos recomendado a todos nuestros amigos.

Una settimana a Cabo de Gata

Ci siamo fermati una settimana alla Tenada, in due famiglie con bambini/ragazzi. L'accoglienza è stata più che positiva, Umberto e la moglie si sono sempe mostrati disponibili e discreti. Gli appartamenti sono accoglienti e completi di tutto. La Tenada è situata in una zona del parco isolata e tranquilla, potrebbe sambrare scomoda per spostarsi, ma in realtà permette di andara da sud a nord con facilità. Inoltre tramonti e serate incredibili. I consigli di Umberto sono stati preziosi e utili, non solo per le spiagge ma anche per l'interessante escursione al pueblo minerario e per il simpatica piazza del paese dove si possono trovare ottime tapas a poco prezzo (consigliatissimo). Esperienza da ripetere!

Tranquillità e relax al Cabo

Posizionato al centro geografico del parco, consente di raggiungere tutte le splendide spiagge del Cabo con un tragitto massimo di mezz'ora d'auto. Il paese di Campohermoso dista a pochi minuti e qui potete trovare i principali servizi. Il cortijo si trova su una piccola altura da cui si può godere uno splendido panorama nel silenzio e quiete della campagna. Indimenticabili i tramonti goduti dal patio di fronte all'alloggio e il cielo stellato che si può osservare. La struttura, di recente costruzione, è il risultato di un ottimo restauro di una precedente casa rurale. Con mia moglie e i miei due figli di 13 e 17 anni abbiamo soggiornato nell'appartamento olivo compost ad una camera da letto, bagno, soggiorno con angolo cottura in cui era disponibile un ampio divano letto per i ragazzi. E che dire di Alberto e Almunia, i proprietari che ci hanno fatto sentire come a casa nostra e la cui premura è degna di nota. Altro da aggiungere... speriamo di tornarci il prima possibile ed ovviamente lo consigliamo a chiunque voglia godersi uno splendido periodo di relax e tranquillità all'interno del parco. A presto cortijo.

Belleza, paz y tranquilidad

El pasado agosto, mi pareja y yo nos alojamos en el cortijo La Tenada y acertamos de pleno. Está situado en el centro del Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata, sin ninguna otra edificación alrededor. Si lo que buscas es belleza, paz, tranquilidad y comodidad, éste es vuestro sitio. Totalmente recomendable. Nosotros estuvimos en el apartamento para dos situado en la planta superior del cortijo. Estaba totalmente equipado, muy limpio y con una gran terraza donde teníamos unas vistas inmejorables de 360º al parque natural de Cabo de Gata. Los anfitriones son encantadores. Nos aconsejaron qué playas visitar, qué rutas hacer y dónde comer. Sin duda volveremos. Nos encantó!!!

A special and beautiful place

The place is very beautiful and remote. This is a very special stay, if you want to stay in a place where you can feel "lost in the desert", that's probably the best place to be. The appartment is very clean, the bed are very comfortable. You will find everything you need for a pleasant stay will all the conveniences in the middle of nowhere. The night is very peaceful in this place. Umberto and his wife are very welcoming people, and very helpful to find the best places to have a walk, find beautiful playas etc. You need to stay here to try this experience.

Perfecto, en pleno campo y bien comunicado

Hemos estado una semana, una familia con abuela (con dificultades para moverse) y niña. El alojamiento es muy cómodo y bonito. Puedes disfrutar de estar en pleno campo y a la vez bien comunicado para visitar todo Cabo de Gata. El trato de los propietarios es excelente. Muy muy recomendable.

Abgeschiedenheit, Ruhe und Erholung

Das Cortijo wurde von den Vermietern auf den Fundamenten des ursprünglichen Cortijo del Hornillo wieder neu und ökologisch aufgebaut und liegt außerhalb jeglicher Ortschaft mitten in der beeindruckenden wilden Landschaft des Cabo de Gata. Eine der besten Möglichkeiten die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit, die weite wüstenartige Landschaft und den nächtlichen Sternenhimmel des Cabo in aller Authentizität zu genießen. Anders als innerhalb der kleinen Ortschaften. Die Vermieter sind freundlich zurückhaltend, sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Die gemeinsamen Gespräche waren sehr interessant, da Umberto und seine Frau sich mit der Historie des Cabos intensiv auseinander gesetzt haben. Wer also ein wenig an der Geschichte dieses Landstrichs interessiert ist, findet hier einige Antworten. Die Wohnungen sind sauber, die Betten sehr bequem und die Bäder gut ausgestattet. Auch draußen auf der Terrasse lässt sich vor allem abends sehr schön bei Kerzenlicht sitzen. Lediglich die Küchenausstattung ist recht spartanisch: Ein zweiflammiger Gasherd, auf dem man kaum zwei Töpfe platzieren kann, ein recht kleiner Kühlschrank, ein ziemlich veraltetes Kochgeschirr – hier besteht durchaus Verbesserungsbedarf - aber mit gutem Willen lässt sich temporär auch damit leben. The same in English: Loneliness, calm and rest The Coritjo was reerected by the landlords on the base oft he original Cortijo del Hornillo in a ecological way. It ist situated complete in the outside just in the impressive wild landscape of the Cabo. This location offers one of the best possibilities, to enjoy the calm and loneliness, the wide desertlike landscape and a starry sky in the night very intensive. The landlords are friendly and very helpful. The conversation was always very interesting, because they know much about the history of the area. The apartments are clean, the beds are comfortable and the bathes are well equipped. In the evening to sit on the terrace with candle-light is a pleasure too. Only the kittchen facilities were a little bit spartan: a very small gas stove on which you hardly can use two pots, an obsolete cookware, a small fridge – there is some improvement – but you can live with it temporarily.

Quiete tra il deserto e il mare

Siamo giunti al “la Tenada” dopo un’intensa settimana di turismo culturale tra Figueres, Barcellona e Madrid che ci ha messo a dura prova . Abbiamo trovato quello che speravamo: un contesto unico inserito in un paesaggio spettacolare e nella calma assoluta. A ridosso del suggestivo Desierto de Tabernas, il parco del Cabo de Gata è un tratto di costa straordinario e quasi intatto. Una settimana è davvero poco per godere di tutte le spiagge, del calore degli spagnoli che ti accolgono nei localini dei paesini lungo la costa dove tutto è a misura d’uomo. Umberto e Almudena ci hanno ospitato nella loro casa ordinata, pulita, confortevole e attrezzata con quanto necessario, con grande simpatia. Soggiornare da loro ti proietta in una dimensione di quiete e tranquillità in grado di rigenerarti. Lo consigliamo a tutti quelli che sono ancora capaci di non annoiarsi a contatto con la natura. Estuvimos muy a gusto

Fuimos con nuestro bebé de 8 meses y estuvimos genial. Pasamos una semana y nos encantó el sitio y el entorno. Es un sitio muy tranquilo, hay mucha paz y pasamos unas vacaciones muy bonitas los tres juntos. Volveremos!!

Peaceful spot in a unique landscape

My husband and I visited Cortijo La Tenada for two nights during a 10-day trip to Spain, on the recommendation of other hosts. We didn't quite know what to expect from the surroundings or the accommodations themselves, but both turned out to be very special. Cabo de Gata, the park in which the lodge is situated, looks almost like the American Southwest - hills covered in scrubby plants and cactus, enormous sky with every possible intricate combination of clouds. When we stepped outside our suite, you could see other buildings off in the distance - not even that far away, maybe - but the whole atmosphere was one of extreme quiet and calm. There's just nothing around, and it was incredible! The lodge is stark white with dark wood trim, and our rooms were very well outfitted, in a modern, minimalist kind of way. The bedroom got REALLY dark with the shutters closed, which was great for sleeping in - there was absolutely no way to tell what time it was! No lights coming from neighboring buildings to disturb your slumber, of course. Umberto and his wife were very kind hosts who gave us a lot of information about the area and recommended beaches nearby (including Playa de los Muertos, which was beautiful) and towns to eat in. They weren't around very often, but were completely helpful when we needed them. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay and we would certainly go back.

DESCANSO EN UN PARAJE SIN IGUAL

Hemos pasado unos días en la casa y a pesar del ajetreo de viajar con dos pequeñajos, hemos descansado como en nuestra propia casa. El cortijo está en plena naturaleza, hacia tiempo que no veía amaneceres y puestas de sol tan espectaculares. El apartamento en el que hemos estado estaba muy limpio y era muy espacioso. Muy bien equipado. Está muy bien situado, sobre todo para visitar todo el Parque de Cabo de Gata, está a media hora más o menos de cualquiera de los puntos más interesantes para ver o de cualquiera de las hermosas playas que tiene el Parque Natural. Sí volvemos a Almeria, que por cierto nos ha encantado, repetiremos en La Tenada.

Casa rural, cortijo con encanto

Recomendamos encarecidamente éste Cortijo tanto para ir en pareja como en familia o amigos. Los propietarios tienen gran cuidado en la decoración y limpieza consiguiendo también un buen ambiente en la estancia. Está muy bien construido y con buenos materiales y sostenibles. Las habitaciones y baños están decorados con mucho gusto. Hemos agradecido la calidad de los colchones y ropa de cama (algodón 100%). Se nota que apuestan por la calidad por delante de lo económico. Los propietarios son una encantadora pareja, atentos y familiares en el trato dispuestos a aconsejar y ayudar en todo momento. El entorno es extraordinario para pasear, correr o ir en bici. Muy buena experiencia

¡Inmejorable!

La semana que pasamos en La Tenada fue simplemente inmejorable. El entorno es espectacular, la ubicación es perfecta (cerca de las mejores playas y con posibilidad de hacer muchas actividades), el trato de los propietarios excelente (nos han dado las pistas para disfrutar de lo mejor del Cabo de Gata) y la casa es muy fresca y cómoda. Fuimos con niños y ellos disfrutaron igual que nosotros. Muy recomendable.

UNOS DIAS MARAVILLOSOS

Mis felicitaciones , para Umberto y Almudena por lo maravilloso del alojamiento que dirigen , el trato fue inmejorable, el entorno fantástico donde se respira una paz que no tiene palabras. Lugar fantástico para realizar rutas en Bicicleta de Montaña por la zona, el equipamiento de la casa perfecto, en definitiva un lugar que os lo recomiendo si buscáis la paz y la tranquilidad que tanto buscamos, aquí desde luego la encontrareis junto con un maravilloso trato humano.
