About this property

Cozy Mountain Log Home Overlooking Rushing Stream

Get away from it all! Remote lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom log home with sleeping loft nestled in the woods and looking out on a bold cascading stream. Soak in the covered hot tub or rock on the covered porch overlooking the rushing stream and relax to the sound of the beautiful waterfalls. Open up the windows and feel the cool mountain air, fall asleep to the calming sound of falling water - The best nights sleep. Gather round the fire-pit, roast marshmallows, and soak up the scenery. Cook burgers and hot dogs on the bank of the stream on the picnic table with park style charcoal grill. Relax, hike, or play in this true mountain paradise! . WiFi and free long distance calls included. Enough room for everyone, 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds, 1 full sleeper sofa. **NOTE: The cabin is 2.6 miles from Hwy 19 into our mountain community on Hornbuckle Creek. The road is gravel (not steep) but is very well maintained by the HOA, we have provided very detailed driving directions and proper signage as GPS is not fully accurate in the mountains. It is a 15 minute drive to town. While in the winter months - driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle would be recommended, no need in other seasons. If getting away from the crowds and enjoying a remote Great Smoky Mountain experience is your thing , you will love this place! The kitchen is extremely well equipped to prepare any meal. Outside you will enjoy cooking on the gas or charcoal grill over the stream. In the beautiful cool evenings of spring and fall take the chill off watching the flames in the woodstove fireplace. Pets may be considered. Ask us.

For Larger Groups or If Your Preferred Dates are Unavailable:

If you are traveling with more than 6 guests and need 2 cabins for your mountain vacation, we encourage you check out our neighbor's cabin, Hemlock Creek Hollow (VRBO #1159678). Hemlock Creek Hollow is on the same rushing creek as we are and in a breath taking setting. Hemlock Creek Hollow is an approximate 10 minute walk from Running Bear Falls (or shorter if you follow the creek) and boasts stellar 5 star reviews.

If Running Bear Falls is not available for your preferred dates, we encourage you to check out Hemlock Creek Hollow (VRBO #1159678) as an alternative. We can assure that you will not be disappointed with either option.

Lovely cabin and property

Absolutely loved the cabin and the area. We even got to see a bear about 1/2 a mile from the cabin. I do recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle for the road leading to the cabin.

Creek Life

Our trip was wonderful. The cabin was great and was very clean. It was private and so was the creek. We spent most of our time on the creek and enjoying the hot tub.we never had a problem so we never really had to get in touch with anyone. It’s one of the best trips we have ever taken.

Awesome!

The cabin was wonderful and very relaxing! We enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the hummingbirds and hearing the rush of water from the creek below. We built a fire and fixed smores with the items left for us by the host. My son and grandson loved playing in the creek. Will definitely visit again!!

Maximum Relaxation

This is an incredible cabin on a serene mountain stream. We did several creek treks with the kids, swam under waterfalls, found salamanders and more. Rainy days were even fun under the large covered porch. Saw a mother bear with 2 cubs near the RBF Sunset View. Less than an hour’s drive each to Bryson City, Cataloochee and Clingman’s Dome.

The perfect cabin in the perfect location

Somehow both the glowing reviews and the lovely pictures listed for this cabin fail to capture just how wonderful it is. We had coffee with hummingbirds on the deck in the morning, watched fireflies from the hot tub in the evening, and waved to the elk and a bear as we set out each day to explore. The hosts are everything you'd hope for in a stay like this; reasonable, helpful, and hospitable. Stay here, you won't regret it.

Anniversary Getaway

Beautiful property right on a stream. Cabin was large, clean, and comfortable with extras such as games, basic necessities, ice maker, condiments and all small appliances needed. Lots of wood for a campfire beside the stream or in the cabin if desired. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Wonderful, peaceful mountain retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Running Bear! There were so many details we appreciated. From the time we booked, the hosts were quick to reply to questions and offer important information. Lots of little details around the cabin site made our stay comfortable. Beautiful creek with several places to sit and relax outside.Very clean, cozy, and well maintained home/property, lots of space to spread out when needed. So thankful for this space where our family was able to experience the Smokies!

Little piece of heaven

Such an enjoyable stay, we arrived at 66 degrees, coming from 100 in SC. The flowing stream was wonderful - we opened the windows in the bedroom at night to let the water sooth us to sleep. Very clean and comfortable, all we needed was there, except the food - which we purchased from Ingles. Very well appointed. We will be back! Great place to destress!

Amazing!

We LOVED our stay at this remote cabin! The rushing stream was not only so much fun for our kids to play in but was so relaxing to listen to while sitting on the front porch or in the hot tub. House was well furnished, we had everything we needed. The host even left us a surprise welcome gift of stuff to make s’mores! The cabin is very remote which is what we expected and we loved that about this location. It was the perfect setting to get away from it all!

Paradise

If you're looking for paradise, secluded, running creek, no one around then this is the place. If I could afford it I would live here year round. Internet & phone service is a little sketchy but in paradise who cares?

Relaxing & Beautiful!!

This was a last minute decision as our previous plans fell through! Our little boy was on spring break so we were looking for a nice place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life and this cabin and the host did not disappoint. The hosts are wonderful at messaging you and want to know if you have any problems! The directions and instructions to..from..and about the cabin were great! We will definitely keep this cabin in mind for future visits.

Great Vacation Spot

The cabin is one of the nicest, best appointed and beautifully situated we have stayed in for 35 years. So far as cleanliness, scenery and layout are concerned, it is unsurpassed. All the amenities you could want are provided. It made us wish we'd brought our whole family. I particularly loved the hot tub, after following my wife and dog along the stream. Great hiking opportunities. The road is definitely challenging, especially during and after a heavy rain, but is manageable. We loved our stay!

Very nice accomodations. The kitchen was well stocked. The cabin was very clean.

The house was very nice and very warm and homey. The ride up to the cabin was treacherous. Too far back off the main road and very hard to find. You will need a 4 wheel drive to get back and forth into town.
