About this property

Lovely Cape Rosier Waterfront Cottage

Enjoy beautiful views of Penobscot Bay, islands, and Camden Hills from the living room, porch, and beach of this well-loved waterfront cottage. Get lulled to sleep by the waves lapping the shore below, and waken to the sound of gulls and lobstermen hauling their traps.

The rustic cottage, built in 1928, is ideal for a family or two couples vacationing together. We are located at beautiful Blake’s Point, Cape Rosier, only a 20 minute drive to Blue Hill, where you can enjoy cultural events, gift shops, restaurants, hiking, and shopping.

Acadia National Park, on Mt. Desert, or the picturesque and historic town of Stonington make great day trips.

Or, simply relax on the porch, walk five minutes to Bakeman's Beach, read a book, kayak (bring your own or we'll have rental info. upon your arrival), pick blueberries and make a pie. Wade, swim, or hike around Cape Rosier. Ideal for those who want to get away to relax in solitude, work on a craft or art project, meditate and beachcomb. It's Maine, the way life should be.

The centerpiece of the cottage is a beautiful hand-made chimney consisting of rocks personally collected by grandparents and family. The driftwood mounted on the walls date back more than 50 years and evoke images of sea life and animals.

The kitchen, recently renovated, offers full features to include range/oven, dishwasher, full-sized refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and toaster oven. The large kitchen window affords spectacular views of Hog, Pond, and Western islands.

The cheery living room invites relaxation after a day of exploration or water fun.

Modern bathrooms (one bathroom includes a shower, toilet, vanity; the smaller bathroom has a toilet and vanity), full supply of linens, and comfortable beds await the visitors. Washer and dryer are convenient and saves trips to laundromats.

The screened-in porch encourages vacationers to take in gorgeous sunsets, sounds of bird life, and passing lobster and sailboats. The swinging glider on the porch affords refreshing sleep in clear Maine air. A trundle bed on the porch provides extra sleeping capacity.

The cottage has been in the family for nearly 100 years and we want to share it with people who will give it the love that our family has given it over many years. It has tremendous sentimental value to us. We know you will enjoy your stay.

Our fifth time staying here!

It's a spectacular place to relax, enjoy the sights and sounds of mid-coast Maine with every amenity we could want. Love the rustic cottage with lots of books about life in Maine. Great restaurant nearby in Buck's Harbor called Buck's. Great nature preserves nearby. Wonderful view of Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills. Quiet.

Lovely Cottage, Beautiful Location

My wife & I spent a month at the Clancy Cottage and loved every minute. First of all, the location is divine! It is hard to describe just how beautiful Cape Rosier is & the cottage is particularly well situated with fantastic views. On 4th of July, we watched fireworks from at least 4 surrounding towns, while sitting on the cottage porch! And we loved watching "nature tv" from the porch -- eagles, dolphins, seals as wells as kayakers and endless sailboats. It was like a moving painting everyday. Next, the cottage is so charming, with great touches -- art, books, comfy furniture -- that make it feel more like a home than a rental. It is also the best supplied rental we have ever experienced -- kitchen supplies & equipment, outdoorsy supplies, etc. It made our stay easy breezy. Lastly, while being tucked away on the Cape was delightful, it was also easy to visit several nearby towns & sights. Don't miss the Saturday morning farmers market at Four Seasons Farm, which is just a 5min drive away! Lynda was a super communicative host & made sure our stay was very smooth. We loved Clancy Cottage & can't wait to return!

Wonderful Maine coast getaway!

Our family had a great time here. The host was easy to communicate with and accommodated all our needs. The cabin maintains it quaint 1929 original build flavor, but is super comfortable. The screened in porch with day bed flowing into the open deck was a hit. Swimmable beach right in front of cabin. Stay here, you will love it as we did. Brian

Words can’t express the absolute beauty and tranquility of the cottage and the expansive views not to mention the ever changing intensity of the sunrises and sunsets. Will come again and again.

A real coastal gem!

Returned for the 4th year in a row and had an amazing 10 days of relaxation in a rustic, comfortable cottage with all the amenities we needed. Views from the porch and deck are spectacular, lots of lovely walks nearby, windjammers and menhaden passing by on the water. So quiet at night and brilliant stars. Wonderful library of books to read about Maine and its history and notable people.

The Maine coast at its finest, in all ways

While an atmospheric vintage cottage, it also has all the modern-day amenities to make a stay super-comfortable. The panoramic view of the Penobscot Bay and islands is truly incredible and impossible to capture fully in a photo. The weather and water changed often, and we enjoyed it all, from sunshine to fog. While you have a sense of totally being away, enjoying nature, all the amenities you could possibly need are no more than 30 minutes away, or less, including the treat Buck's restaurant. Never made it to Acadia because we were crowd-averse in peak season and preferred exploring nearby places like Deer Isle, Castine and Blue Hill. Were able to fulfill most of our grocery needs at the excellent Tuesday Brooksville farmers market. Lynda was full of good suggestions, including hikes. A special experience!

Everything I hoped For

The cottage is as described in the listing--a well-cared for family cottage. The view is simply stunning--even washing dishes is fun as you are looking out over the bay. It would be easy to spend one's entire stay simply sitting on the porch and gazing at Penobscot Bay. I loved the solitude and the beauty. The surrounding area is wonderful, with lots to explore.

Great Place to Come Back to

Our 3rd yr. in a row and it just keeps getting better! Lovely view from the porch and deck of islands in Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills. Surrounded by sights and sounds of nature, bright stars and the Milky Way overhead at night, quiet. Cottage is rustic but well equipped. Lots of great natural areas within short drive/walk for hiking or just a leisurely walk.

A Restorative Week

The setting for this cottage is glorious. The long, comfy screened porch faces the islands. The water and variety of birds is peaceful. We had dinners out on the porch and enjoyed exploring the area. The owner of the cottage was very helpful. My husband and son enjoyed playing chess out on the deck, and reading on the porch. Great books!

The best Maine cottage ever

This is our second year in a row staying at Clancy cottage. Somehow, I had forgotten just how breathtakingly beautiful it really is there. This is the most peaceful place ever. The house is immaculate and the owner is very helpful. We all loved the quiet, the wildlife - eagles, porpoises, seals, woodpeckers, and a friendly neighborhood cat, and the location. We did a few day trips, but most of all, we hiked and then hung out relaxing together. For my husband and I to still get this kind of time with our sons ages 17 and 19, that's as good as it gets. This is a family home and it is such a welcoming and complete place to have your vacation.

Superb

We stayed at Clancy two years ago and thought it was the perfect for us then. It's even better now, if that's possible, with a new deck to complement the screened-in porch. Either way, you can sit for hours watching the birds, boats, seals, porpoises of Penobscot Bay pass by. And on a clear, calm night the stars are bright enough to reflect off the water in front of you. The cottage itself is beautifully understated and lovingly cared for by the owners; you'll want for nothing.

Quintessential costal Maine

Outstanding! God simply didn’t make a better perch for a cabin in Maine. The view is indescribably beautiful. We sit on the screened porch for hours with binoculars and observe the marine life, islands, passing sail boats, lobster boats, and birds. Cheap live lobsters 1/4 mile away. No hustle or bustle. Easy drive to Bar Harbor if crowds are your thing. Thank you Lynda once again.

Comfortable, peaceful with spectacular scenery

This was our 2nd year staying at the Clancy Cottage, the same week in September. It's so beautiful right at the cottage that we spent part of our days right there watching porpoises and seals, ospreys, bald eagles, lobster boats and windjammers and butterflies at the flower border. Kitchen is so well equipped we wanted for nothing and the cottage is very comfortable. Love the screened-in porch where we ate most of our meals. Lots of places to hike nearby and wonderful restaurant (Buck's) in Buck's Harbor. Strong Brewery in Sedgewick not only caters to people but to monarch butterflies! We counted at least 17 chrysallises on the beams in the pavillion and saw one butterfly that had emerged and was unfolding its wings. The only issue with our stay was that it was too short--the week flew by.

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location

This property is tucked into a quiet, peaceful cove on the Maine coast. The water is right out front of the house and below a sea wall bordering the front lawn. The house offers a panoramic view of the water which is beautiful in all weathers and times of day. The ocean here is fairly calm since it lies in an area protected by a series of barrier islands. One of the joys of the place is sitting on the screened porch in the morning with coffee watching eagles and seagulls on the rocks and sailboats passing bu. The cottage itself is lovely, having been owned for several generations by members of the same family. The place has loads of character, is spotlessly clean, and equipped with just about anything one could need. The owner is responsive, accommodating, and helpful. The screened porch is a great place to while away the afternoon, enjoying the sea breezes or taking a nap. One can walk the road around the cape and there are others in the nearby Holbrook Island Sanctuary that are particularly nice. Freshly picked vegetables are for sale at a local farm and a farmer’s market, there are good restaurants nearby, and lobster can be purchased from a local man who pulls them out of the water. It’s obvious this cottage is loved and reflects the owners’ care. It is perfect place for someone seeking peace in a private and extraordinary cottage located in an beautiful setting.

The Best of Maine

Hands down this was the BEST Maine vacation EVER! The Clancy Cottage is truly amazing inside and out. It felt like home the moment we stepped inside. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need, including the most breathtaking view, which made the dishwashing a joy rather than a chore. Spacious living area with lots of books, games and puzzles. Bedrooms were quaint and very comfortable. Loved having a second bathroom. With 5 people that is a must! But our favorite part of the cottage was the screened in porch. We spent all of our time out there when we weren't sightseeing. Words and pictures can't capture God's masterpiece at Clancy Cottage and Cape Rosier. Our 8 year old son used the word "impeccable" when we asked him to describe the cabin for this review. We all would agree with that 100%! If you are looking for crowds this is not the place for you. The peace you'll feel here listening to the loons, watching the seals and porpoises chase menhaden, watching the eagles soar by and spending time beach combing cannot be expressed with words alone. You need to experience this beauty first hand. Our Host Lynda was exceptional. She was very helpful and got back to us immediately if we had a question. Not one thing I would change about our experience. Many THANKS to Lynda and her family for allowing us to share this special place.

Charming, comfortable, cozy cottage, great location

We absolutely loved the Cape Rosier cottage!! Wonderful screened-in porch with beautiful view out onto Penobscot Bay and islands & the hills of Camden. Enjoyed wandering on the pebbly beach below at low tide, seeing a great blue heron fishing right below the cottage in the morning when the tide was out, listening to the schools of menhaden whooshing out of the water when a seal or larger fish gave chase (sounded just like a whale blowing!); watching windjammers emerge from the fog and then disappear again as they sailed past blowing their hand held fog horns; sitting out in the lawn chairs at the side for cocktails before dinner; walking over to Bakeman Beach before breakfast; homemade blueberry/lemon muffins on the porch & so much more. The cottage is very well furnished for those who like to cook/bake--the kitchen is GREAT! Comfortable living room to read in at night and lots of interesting books and board games on hand. Made day trips to Holbrook Island Sanctuary (Fresh Pond trail is lovely!) Harriman Point, John B. Mtn., Blue Hill to hike up the hill, Castine, Stonington. Discovered a gem of a restaurant (Buck's) in Buck's Harbor right behind the Buck's Harbor Mkt. Wonderful menu and really lovely dining atmosphere. We had a delicious dinner there. We plan to return to the cottage at Cape Rosier :)
