**PLEASE CONTACT OWNER FOR CONSIDERATION OF SHORTER STAY, IF NEEDED**
Welcome to Gooseberry Cottage. You are invited to get away from it all at a charming lake cottage within steps of the crystal clear waters of Lake Superior! Private 600 feet of shoreline and beach is yours with plenty of room to swim and play on beautiful Chebomnicon Bay. You are moments from Big Bay State Park, which is great access for the hiker, biker, kayaker or adventurer. You can enjoy the 12+ acres of this very private location. The cottage has been recently updated and sleeps 6 comfortably with a king, queen, full futon and a daybed with trundle on the 3 season porch (for those who enjoy sleeping to the sounds of nature and fresh air.) You will have amazing privacy at our cottage and you can truly get away from the "busyness" of daily life here. There is a TV/DVD player for watching movies if you wish (no tv service but can stream on wifi). Come make wonderful memories on the island while staying at Gooseberry Cottage. Family and pet friendly. 5 night min. during peak summer months, but please contact owner for consideration of shorter stay. Amenities: 3 season porch, basic kitchen essentials provided, microwave (no dishwasher), full bath, outdoor shower, wood burning fireplace,, sunporch, charcoal grill (please bring your own charcoal, lighter fluid and firewood), and an outdoor fire pit. *please note the beach changes throughout the seasons dependent upon many factors, and beach may be larger or smaller at different times of season.*

Beautiful view- right on the lake!

The view from the backyard is gorgeous. It is also roomy enough and had plenty of sleeping options. My partner and I had a bedroom- my sister and her husband had the large upstairs bedroom which slept them comfortably with their 4 year old son. My 8 year old niece had the loft which was cozy and tucked away she loved that. There was only 1 bathroom which we worried about but it ended up being fine. Location is remote and secluded through the woods which we liked- didn’t have to worry at all about noise. About a 10 minute drive from ferry. Jeanine the host is very nice- everything we needed was there- even a keurig- just bring your own k cups. The only downside was a LOT of flies. We were able to kill most with fly swatters and it was just the time of year so not a deal breaker. We’d stay here again! You have your own beach and that view off the deck is priceless.

Relaxing stay on Madeline Island

Our stay at Gooseberry Cottage was everything we had hoped for. It was a great home base to explore all that Madeline Island has to offer. The property was very private and peaceful and we had lots of fun on the beach in the lake. The home was very comfortable for our family of 4.

Family get away

We loved our stay at Gooseberry Cottage. The property was awesome. We loved the private beach and proximity to town and other destinations on the island. Our only regret is not staying a few more days. Thank you for a memorable getaway for our family.

Beautiful private beach stay

We enjoyed everything about our stay, especially the beach, indoor and outdoor porches, master bedroom with view of Lake Superior with windows on 3 sides. We had several hikes that were challenging and fun. Appreciated that this island has preserved its beauty/austerity

Beautiful Beach

We enjoyed our stay very much. The rustic cottage brought me back to my childhood cabin days and I loved sleeping on the screen porch! The beach was wonderful and my son did a little kayaking. The owner was very responsive to the few questions we had. We enjoyed exploring beautiful Madeline Island.

Great location for our family vacation

Gooseberry cabin was the perfect spot for our family of 4 to get away and enjoy Madeline Island. The cabin was clean, the beds were comfortable, the beach was fantastic to enjoy the lake and watch stars at night. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed and we used a couple of the board games on a rainy day. Thanks for hosting our family 😀

Perfect getaway

Beach Get Away

Thank you for the amazing summer beach get away experience. My family fell in love with this property. We spent the majority of our time on the beach lounging and swimming. The cottage was so cozy and had a spectacular Superior view. We will definitely be returning!

Beauty and the Beach

Our family (2 kids - 8 years/10 years old) loved our stay at Gooseberry Cottage. We enjoyed relaxing on the beach, playing catch in the yard, and dealing cards on the deck. The majestic views of the lake were spectacular. The house has everything you need. If you need to unplug and reset, this is the house for you.

We love Jeanine’s place. Our mistake for not bringing enough groceries since restaurants were not open until lunch and limited menu options. Would have loved to stay longer but sick kid forced us to shorten our stay. Our family and pup loved the location and yard. Thanks Jeanine

Beautiful relaxing getaway

My husband and I rented the cottage for a weekend. When we arrived we fell in love with the place we enjoyed the sunrise from the master bedroom walks through the property with our puppy and breakfast on the beach. Defenetly we will be back

Cozy relaxing space

We had an amazing week with our dogs. The beach and yard were perfect for "our kids (dogs)" to play. They were exhausted every night. We absolutely loved the view, the beach, and the cottage. A cozy space to relax and unwind from a busy summer. We did not leave the property our entire stay. Thank you for sharing this little piece of heaven!

Second Stay

This was my second time at this property and I will hopefully keep coming back - the location is great and it is very private. The property has such charm and has great bones. The island has always been a favorite destination and this makes it even more special. Close proximity to Big Bay State Park with excellent hiking trails.
