About this property

Artist's House With A Breezy Balcony And Whirlpool Tub.

A two bedroom house, private, fully fenced in a safe neighbourhood. 5 minutes drive from Grand Anse beach, 10 minutes to St. Georges and 20 minutes walk to True Blue University. Beautifully decorated with breezy balcony, wooden deck with whirlpool and a view over nearby marina. Near to beaches and close to public transport and walking distance of restaurants and nightlife. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
Colibri is uniquely decorated with a Caribbean Baroque style and is really an indoor/outdoor living space. One can eat inside or al fresco and the same goes for bathing! We have a full two person whirlpool tub to relax in and even provide the bubbles.
Colibri has two large bedrooms with ACs and a spacious bathroom with wet room shower (I hate shower curtains!). The Living room has windows throughout and very high ceilings with a large ceiling fan. Open plan dining room leads to the kitchen which overlooks the deck with the open air whirlpool tub. The kitchen has all amenities and a top load washing machine. One steps out of the Living room on to the covered balcony which has modular seating and another dining table which can seat four. The garden is fully fenced with gated entry. We provide toiletries and household cleaning products and stock the fridge with breakfast items.
We leave a written guide to Grenada and include helpful phone numbers for guests. We are on hand for any problems or enquiries to help make the guest's stay as perfect as we can. We both love living in Grenada and want the world to feel the same way! Grenada has wonderful weather year round, with two seasons; the dry season and the rainy season. Obviously the dry season is a little hotter with endless sunny days and is when the tourism is at it's height. However, the rainy season is rarely a constant rain, more like a few intermittent cooling showers with prolonged rainfall lasting a day or two being less common. There are great flight deals during less peak times (peak being end of December through to Easter) and the weather is still tropically idyllic.
This neighbourhood is residential and very safe. We are on top of a rise overlooking the entrance to True Blue peninsula and Spice Isle Marina and the main road to Grand Anse. Nearby are a stretch of the nicest and most popular beaches in Grenada; from Grand Anse (Radisson, Coyaba, Spice Island and Mount Cinnamon hotels), then Morne Rouge (Gem and Kalinago hotels), Parc a boeuf (La Luna hotel), Magazine (The Rex and Maca Bana hotels) and then Pink Gin (Sandals La Source). All beaches in Grenada have a public access to them and ALL are open to the public by law. 450 yards from the house is the True Blue road to the University which has many restaurants, snack food outlets, a pharmacy and night club along it's way. There are some walking trails from Hill crest that wind along beaches with lovely views.
We are located just inside of the True Blue peninsula, which means you are situated between the airport, Grand Anse and St. Georges University campus. The house is a 450 yard walk to all the main bus routes or a cab can be called from the airport taxi rank to arrive in 5 minutes. We are situated on Hill Crest Drive, which links the only large road on the island, Maurice Bishop Highway with True Blue Road and is 10 minutes walk to Sugar Mill roundabout which links Lance aux Epines (residential and tourist area) with Grand Anse (main tourism and shopping area) with the east coast road to Westerhall (residential) and La Sagesse nature center.

Artistically Special

A feast for your eyes..behind the gated entrance, find picturesque outdoor space with abundant greenery and the Lizard lounge. A painted hummingbird and crafted mirror adorn the entrance to the cottage. Colibri is all about artistic expression and it's done beautifully. Special touches are everywhere with added intriguing paintings on the walls. You can see the artist, Rebecca enjoyed creating Colibri. Rebecca was helpful and treated us to our first morning breakfast with supplies in the refrigerator. The terrace is well adorned with comfy lounging, but we did find unexpected industrial noise mostly during the day. As an older couple, walking the hilly area was not an option. Renting a car worked well or try Haylup app for rides and Yogo to deliver food. It was a short ride to a beautiful beaches. A memorable experience!

Prefect house - 5 mins to beaches

We just came back a few days ago after spending 11 days Highlights : We were just a couple but the house easily sleeps 4 with 2 big A/C'd bedrooms. The balcony is great in the evenings and is breezy to keep you cool. The view overlooks the Lime. TV has great selection of channels and wifi is strong. She provided beach towels which was a great plus, but also bathroom and kitchen supplies. Also access to a washer/dryer. It was spotless We had a electrical issue and she had an electrician fix it the next day. Also, we had a small accident of a twisted ankle - she arranged her own GP to come the same evening - wow !! The house itself is on a hill with the steep incline, which you get used to. She provided a parking space for my car rental. It is close to the airport so you will hear about 4 planes take off in the early evening, but I thought that was cool The area seemed very safe, as was the whole island, and the house sits behind a closed gate. All windows and doors locked properly and there is a safe for your passports In terms of location - 5 mins to airport, local supermarkets, pharmacy, bank, restaurants, magazine / grooms / lances aux epines beaches 10 mins to morne rouge / grand anse beaches / IGA We toured the whole island (it's hilly!) and found this spot to be ideal. Away from the crowds, but close enough to amenities and of course the best beaches If you are 4 people, you will find it hard to rent a better place, with an owner who is always available when you need

Winter Break

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Colibri and in Grenada. Rebecca was a fantastic host, and always contactable. We loved the island and the comfortable accommodation, within walking distance of lots of lovely restaurants and beaches. I would recommend this property for anyone wishing to visit Grenada.

Good value and location

Liked the decor. Clean. Kitchen well stocked. Beds comfortable. Was as advertised. Host is very responsive. Be aware of location on hilltop with very poor road. If you're in good physical condition it's walking distance to SGU and surroundings, but if mobility impaired you'll need taxi or rental car. Also, as described, only the bedrooms have AC. Expect the place to be very hot in the afternoons, even with the breeze. We adjusted and had a good time.

Very responsive host

This was a very easy rental. Directions to the property very clearly outlined. Easy entry instructions. The place is just as it is posted online. Rebecca is very responsive to WhatsApp questions and concerns. The washer and dryer was very handy and worked so well. I would not hesitate to recommend this place for a holiday. Definitely rent a car to make the mist of the holiday.

Beautiful artistic house and kind hosts

The house is conveniently located 10 mins away from beautiful beaches and from St. George. The owners have taken much care about the decoration of the interior and the balcony. We found the washing machine and the provided beach towels very useful. Rebecca and her husband were very helpful once we had a problem with our car, and they were also extremely nice and flexible, allowing us to leave the house in the afternoon, as the next guests arrived a couple of days later. It is very breezy up the hill, sometimes not allowing us to eat on the balcony. It was great that the owners provided a few basic groceries at our arrival for the first breakfast. Simple cooking was fine with the provided kitchen material - additional cookware would be a great plus. Thanks again to Rebecca and Abe for this great lodging experience.

Very nice apartment with all the essentials!

We had a lovely stay at Rececca’s! Quiet and private location with a great breeze. No real need for air conditioning. All three of us enjoyed the island and especially the people of Grenada. The beaches were beautiful, Magazine was our favourite! It was a little hard coming up the hill for the two older members of our group but travelling was fun and easy with a short walk to the long stretch! Local term for the bus route...LOL We spent most of our time on the deck at Rebecca’s when we were at our home away from home. Wish we were still there! Thanks for a fantastic holiday Rebecca.

Beautiful home!!!

We had a wonderful stay with Rebecca and Abe. Beautiful home, very clean and spacious for a couple. Beautiful decor especially Rebecca's art. And Rebecca thoughfully put food supplies in the fridge for our first morning. Much appreciated. Lots of thought into all the little things that make this a home away from home. Loved sitting on the spacious porch at the end of the day. Thank you for everything. Brad and Val

fine art decoration and confort

I never rented a house where when you arrive and open de fridge you will find everything that need for your breakfast. Milk eggs, bread, butter , yogurts and a couple of beers for relax after our long travel. It is a fine detail that I never see anywhere, plus coffee , honey, all kind of spices , olive oil, balsamic , salt , etc . Washroom with shampoo, soap, conditioner ,mosquito repellent . Soap and softener for wash your clothes and any kind of products for cleaning . The owner is an artist and you cane enjoy fine art and decoration . Balcony with amazing view where you can enjoy the sunrise . Great location near of everywhere. I like to cook so I will suggest to put more cookware, for the oven , microwave and why not blender. I missed the barbecue , but I understand that they are doing a common place for the 3 apartments and they will put it. If I come back I am sure that I will rent again .

beautifull apartment, location ideal, friendly hos

We really enjoyed the stay in your beautiful apartmen. The decor is very tasteful. The location is ideal, just 5 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes to the beach and the supermarket. The fact that the apartment is located on a slope, was always a fresh breeze, so that the stay on the terrace was very appealing. Rebecca and Abbe are very friendly and you can talk with them in a funny and friendly manner too. We can really recommend this apartment to anyone.

Perfect House in Paradise

I cannot recommend this property high enough, Rebecca and Aby were the perfect hosts, from making contact before we got there and ensuring everything was as we wanted, to giving us a tour of the town, helping me get a license to drive and renting us their vehicle. We felt completely at home here, and it was the perfect setting to get everywhere we wanted to go, it is located close to all the major sights, beaches and shopping, but far enough away to get out of the touristy feel. Not only did we get great accommodations, the knowledge that Rebecca and Aby have about the island is incredible and so helpful. They recommended restaurants, beaches that were secluded and private, and good places to explore while on the island. If we had any questions, both Rebecca and Aby were immediately available to help or give recommendations. The views from the property are amazing, and the house was had a beautiful interior and exterior. The a/c in bedrooms was a huge plus that my wife loved, and the balcony jacuzzi is a must while there. Grenada itself is beautiful and great, and I cannot think of another place we would rather have stayed than at Colibri. Would rate higher than 5 stars if allowed, and if we ever have the privilege of returning to Grenada we will without a doubt rent this property again.

About the host

Hosted by Rebecca Thompson

Host profile image
I am a British born artist living and working in Grenada for the last 27 years in the visual arts and hospitality field. I have dual citizenship and love the island of Grenada, which is my year round home and muse.
My partner and I love nature, horticulture and the environment. We love Grenada and wish to share it with travelers around the world, our small piece of paradise and we have put all our love and time into making Colibri an interesting, artistically stimulating and comfortable home.

Why they chose this property

Colibri was built by an elderly Swiss couple who had met late in life and were enjoying their winter romance. They built a cute little house on a hill and named it after the many hummingbirds that frequent the pretty garden.
We expanded the house and built a wooden verandah with outside whirlpool tub. Extended the kitchen to create a dining area in the old kitchen and built a studio apartment downstairs. We have filled the property with palm trees and orchids and enjoy iguana spotting in the trees flanking both sides of the house. Fireflies appear in the evening and there are often kestrels taking advantage of the thermals to rise over the valley below. The house has a good spirit; open and always breezy.

What makes this property unique

The house is located off the main roads in a quiet residential spot but commands a view over the nearby marina and the mountains beyond. It is handily situated between the peninsula of True Blue housing the University campus, restaurants and bars and the main road to the airport and to the two mile long Grand Anse beach and St. Georges after that.
Colibri is securely fenced and gated and has a park place inside the property. We provide a fully equipped house with all amenities and regularly upgraded.
