About this property

2 Providence Place, Thornage, Norfolk

A surprisingly spacious and beautifully presented delightful Victorian cottage. Located in the pretty village of Thornage, just a couple of miles from the popular Georgian market town of Holt, this is a fabulous hideaway to escape to at any time of the year.

A mid-terrace cottage with generously proportioned rooms, 2 Providence Place is extremely well-equipped with everything you might possibly need. The delightful owners have tried to think of everything to ensure your holiday is as comfortable and care free as possible. The cottage has been furnished in a simple cottage style, with comfort always foremost in mind. You will spot stylish flourishes here and there, and some slightly quirky ones too, all adding to its character and charm. On the ground floor a very pleasant sitting room with views across to the village common invites you to take a seat. With a log burning stove to light on chilly days, you might well feel inclined to stay indoors. The adjoining dining room leads through to a cosy little snug; the perfect spot to enjoy a quiet read. From here walk through to the light and airy kitchen with a door that takes you out to the garden. Up the stairs (steep-ish but straight) you will find a master bedroom with the "WOW" factor and super views across to the common, a pretty single bedroom, again with rural views, and a very impressive family bathroom with both a double ended roll top bath and large shower cubicle. The garden is private and accessible from the back door and has exclusive parking for two cars. Large and fully enclosed, the garden borders open countryside and has a very pretty beach-hut-inspired summerhouse, as well as a chiminea to light, allowing you to enjoy the garden in all seasons.

2 Providence Place is a lovely romantic retreat for two, but just as suitable for a small family, as well as friends - anyone who is looking for a peaceful village setting with easy access to all the coastal and rural delights of North Norfolk. If you want to bring your four-legged friend along, they will have an equally lovely time exploring the many local walks.

Additional Information:
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge). The owner specifically requests dogs are kept in the kitchen during your stay.
Travel cot and high chair provided. Fitted stair gate between kitchen and snug. Please bring your own cot linen.
Bedding is synthetic.
There is no starter pack (tea, coffee, sugar and milk) or welcome hamper provided at this property.

Great Accommodation

A really lovely place to stay. Had everything our young family needed, very cosy and homely. The garden and parking was a plus, and the location is perfect for visiting places across Norfolk. Looking forward to visiting again.

Norfolk April 2022

We've been using Norfolk Hideaways for some time. The North Norfolk region is a favourite with our family and the availability of cottages that allow pets is excellent. The place is bright and airy with a decent kitchen and good living space. Much bigger than some we have stayed at which are quaint and cute, but usually cramped. This was roomy and well laid out. Tiny, tiny niggles were that everything in the crockery cupboard seemed to be very dusty, so had to be washed before it could be used. The sofas have seen better days and were a bit uncomfy. But as I say really tiny things that didn't detract from the enjoyment. The pros certainly far outweighed the cons. On the plus side, there are plenty of facilities in the house, great location within a stone's throw of Holt and 20 minutes from Wells-next-the-Sea for a walk on Holkham beach.

A lovely home from home type accommodation.

Quiet, dog friendly, nicely decorated and well thought out accommodation. Good access to places of interest, towns and beaches but car essential. Sofa needed a good hoover (only criticism) I would definitely visit again.

Fabulous home from home

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was fabulous, spacious and clean, with really personal homely touches. We felt really welcome and relaxed. Even the sun shined on us, despite the forecast. The position is perfect for exploring North Norfolk.

Great little cottage

We really enjoyed our short break at 2 Providence Place. The house was clean and comfortable - bed a bit hard! With Storm Eunice hammering away outside we were cosy and warm in front of the woodburner. Our dogs really enjoyed the luxury of having a radiator in the kitchen! Lovely walks nearby and not too far from the coast for some blustery walks.

Not a dog friendly cottage!

Excellent location for exploring North Norfolk. Cottage clean and tidy on arrival. We booked cottage as it stated it was dog friendly. However, very disappointed to find on arrival that instructions in the cottage stated that dog to be kept in the kitchen only. Quite understand that dogs are not allowed upstairs or on furniture, but as living room was at one end of property and kitchen at the other with dining room and snug area in between, this was not ideal especially in the evenings with us in living room and dog in kitchen away from us. Sold to us as a dog friendly cottage, but dog only welcome in one room. On arrival, the cottage was cold, heating was turned down low. Would have been nice if cottage was warm on arrival, needed in February!

Good dog friendly garden quiet location near to all the places we wanted to visit on holiday

Comfortable quiet and close to places we wanted to visit, very well equipped kitchen very tastefully decorated. Good garden for dogs completely secure. Only fault is the 2 sofas are very low and a bit spring my husband had hurt his knee and he had to sit in one of the chairs from the snug all week

4 nights in Norfolk

We had a lovely time at 2 Providence Place. The cottage was beautiful inside and surprisingly very spacious. You can tell the cottage has been lovingly restored by the owners and is decorated to a very high standard. Staying in November we didn't really venture into the Garden, but if the weather allowed it looked a lovely space with a Summer House as well. The cottage is located near the lovely town of Holt with all the facilities that you will need for your holiday. Also not too far from the stunning North Norfolk coast. The coastal walk along the coast to Blakeney was stunning in the sunshine. This is excellent accommodation in a beautiful area, and we would love to return one day.

A perfect cottage for an October holiday

This cottage was in a great location for visiting many places in North Norfolk. It was very clean warm and comfortable and the kitchen was particularly well equipped. I would certainly recommend it for a holiday especially if you have 4 legged friends with you !

Gorgeous, cosy cottage!

Wow! A gorgeous cosy cottage, very well furnished with excellent attention to detail and fun in the design. Everything you need for a holiday is there. Excellent standard of comfort. Great location and fabulous garden (safe for dogs) with most delightful summerhouse. Very clean (just a tiny bit of mould in the shower which we removed easily with some bleach). Highly recommended accommodation and we will be hopefully be back again soon. Thank you so much.

Peace and comfort

A very enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage, very peaceful. We made good use of the summerhouse furniture in the garden when back from our days out. Well equipped and would definitely return

Super cottage

We enjoyed our weeks stay in this well appointed cottage. Everything provided was very good quality. Only minus point was the very flimsy dog gate between the kitchen and the rest of the house. The garden gate was not dog proof for smaller dogs. We loved the quiet village and have booked for next year already!

Lovely property but not dog friendly and no proper garden furniture to enjoy relaxing in the garden.

Lovely property and a lot of care has been taken. Nice comfy bed and everything nice and clean. If you are taking your dog there are rules; dogs must remain in the kitchen behind a guard, our dog is part of the family and to have her separated meant that we couldn't relax and enjoy the cottage. I can understand not to let them on the furniture or in the bedroom but to have them separated is not dog friendly. Dogs are also not allowed to use the garden as a loo so you have to take them across the road which is not great at night. The property could benefit from some proper garden furniture to enjoy sitting outside in the evening to eat and drink, there are director chairs which are quite comfy but only a small metal table about 30 x 40 cm which not even suitable for putting glasses on. The sofas in the living room could also do with replacing as they have lost all support. The garden is to the left of the drive, so you park the car at the back door and walk across the gravel to the garden, this isn't clear from the pictures. Also access is tight with a shared drive, and the hedge needs cutting back a foot so that you don't scrape your car getting in and out. It's also quite hard to see when pulling out due to the overgrown hedge. The village is pretty but there is no pub or shops and it's not suitable to walk along the road. A nice property but I wish the owners or promoters would experience it as a holiday cottage for a week as with a few adjustments and honest descriptions you could avoid disappointment.

2 Providence Place

A lovely spacious cottage with excellent facilities, but not suitable for taking a dog as they make restrictions that the dog has to be kept in a gated kitchen, and not allowed to use the garden as a loo. So I would not recommend it to other dog owners.

Autumn Stay

A very comfortable cottage with everything you could want. We had two dogs and it was really an ideal place and location for them. The fridge freezer was brilliant as it enabled me to store all their raw food for the week. The gate to confine them to the kitchen was very useful too. The fact that you could drive straight into the garden an unload everything was a real bonus. Would come back again to this cottage.

A few adjustments needed

It would have helped to have detailed information regarding access to the property as we arrived late at night and had no idea how to get in other than “keysafe by back door”. Also having to access through the narrow driveway of the house next door should have been explained as we have an SUV and the access was extremely tight and our car was scratched by constantly having to drive past over grown shrubbery. The cottage however was very spacious & well equipped. Unfortunately there was no information/welcome folder with local info or household info which I would have thought a necessity. Also the signal on the TV was absolutely terrible & most channels were unwatchable. Some sort of storage in the bathroom would have been helpful - nowhere to put toiletries. Beautiful location - very tranquil just a few tweets & it would be perfect.

A week in Norfolk

We selected this lovely cottage due to its peaceful yet convenient location for the local beaches and attractions. We also brought out little Poodle-cross with us so the large garden was much appreciated. The house was clean and both beds were comfortable and we slept very well and we made use of the local guides that had been helpfully provided. The only things which could have improved our stay were an improved TV signal as we could only really watch BBC without it freezing and the garden gates were quite low with wide gaps meaning we had to use the car and bins to stop our small dog escaping. Neither were a significant issue and didn’t really impact on our stay, and I would highly recommend this cottage.
