Anissaras - Hersonissos
Anissaras is neither a village or a town. It is a large hilly area of exceptional beauty due to the long coastline with its beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters and is often referred to as the “Hersonissos’ High class suburb”. In the eastern part of Anissaras lays the little chapel of Aghios Georgios on the Sarantaris Akrotiri. Sarantaris is easy to reach along the coastal road from Anissaras to Hersonissos port, and offers the most amazing views across the bay of Hersonissos and magnificient small beaches, known as “Limanakia”. Just above the vibrant Hersonissos are the 3 picturesque traditional villages of Old Hersonissos, Piskopiano and Koutouloufari, where you can find local tavernas, cafés and bars, with panoramic views over Hersonissos port and the Cretan Sea.
