Everything a family wants

What a wonderfully clever barn conversion! A twenty minute walk to Angle West beach and a mile and a half walk to Freshwater West beach. Our dogs loved the walks, as well, and all the local beaches dog friendly. The barn is well equipped for a family stay and if the weather does turn there are enough games and toys to keep the kids entertained for days, even the big ones! I loved finding the guitar and it was still in tune! Thanks for being a great host, Paul. Radar & Lilly, Jack & Lottie

Favorite rental

We adored this charming cottage. The house was so lovely. It was so charming. My kids adored the loft. And the backyard was perfect for keeping them entertained when we weren't exposing the beautiful beaches nearby. The kitchen had everything you could possibly desire. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Digital Detox in Pembrokeshire.

Property exactly as listed, we decided not to take advantage of the Wi-Fi (to much), and didn’t switch the TV on once. We did enjoy the tranquility of the location, and the fact that everything we needed for our walking, coastal, beach orientated break was within a 15 minute drive away. I promised he dogs a different beach every day. Man, what beaches they are! I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. Very happy.

Cute and quirky barn where time traveller comes free

I rented this barn conversion for a holiday with my 3 kids and my parents. The property is full of character which added to the nice feel of the place. The barn is tucked away at the end of a county lane and the location made us all feel like we had left our busy lives well behind us and stepped back in time. The kids played in the garden and explored the surrounding area which seemed remote enough that we didn’t need to worry about traffic so they could be free. It’s close to amazing dog friendly beaches (Fresh water and west angle) and the town of Pembroke. We had a great time in the unexpected Welsh sunshine. Paul and his wife our hosts were clearly lovely people which again made us feel welcome and relaxed from the start. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

Stop searching...you've found it! 😍

Bangeston Barn is utter heaven! A beautiful character property with all the mod cons needed. We were lucky enough to meet the owners Paul & Naomi when we arrived. They are lovely friendly people who have put their heart & soul into Bangeston. The Angle area which is within the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park is wild & beautiful. It feels remote but you're only about 30 mins from Pembroke with it's lovely castle and river walk & Pembroke Dock for getting food supplies etc. The barn is within walking distance to dog friendly beaches & coves which our three hounds loved! If you want a peaceful break away from the madness of 2020 then you've found it! We will certainly be heading back to Bangeston as soon as we can! Thank you for the best week ever.😍🐾😍

Perfect Stay at Bangeston Barn

We had a wonderful summer stay at Bangeston Barn. It was the perfect downshift after five nights in London during our kids' first trip to the UK. The beautiful scenery made us feel right at home coming from Seattle, WA, USA. As a fellow DIY-er, I so admire Paul's excellent handiwork in making the barn a truly special vacation rental. We were lucky enough to bump into Paul and his family and I'm sure we could have compared notes and visited all day had time allowed. I joked that the only negative part of our trip is that now we have to buy a woodfire pizza oven when we get home because we enjoyed using Paul's pizza oven so much. The location is splendid--we did quick convenient trips to Freshwater West Beach (visiting the "grave" of Dobby the Elf), the Green Bridge of Wales, St. Govain's Chapel, Stackpole/Barafundle Bay, Pembroke Castle, and West Angle Beach (for multiple tea stops at Wavecrest). My morning run each morning was north through beautiful Bangeston Wood up and out to the Angle Lifeboat Station. And we stopped next door at the produce stand from the Angle Walled Garden for new potatoes and flowers. All aspects of the residence itself are creatively designed and executed. I can only imagine how cozy and wonderful the barn would feel for a winter visit--I noted many entries in the guestbook describing great Christmas stays. We would love to return in the fullness of time. Thank you, Paul!

A gorgeous and thoughtful barn conversion

This is a wonderful spot. The design of the barn is fantastic; warm and cosy with underfloor heating, triple glazing and a wood-burner; lovely design with perfectly matching exposed wood, whitewashed walls and stone; every kitchen implement you could imagine, so many games, puzzles & books - it felt we were being challenged to try to find a fault - we couldn't! The front and back gardens (sun in morning, then afternoon) with tables and seating provided; the quiet country location, but close to West Angle Bay and Freshwater West; Also walkable to the pub in Angle... just lovely. On top of that, Paul was super responsive with communication and provided a very comprehensive welcome book with all sorts of hints and tips (like asking for veg boxes from the neighbour, which we did). This is an extremely thoughtfully offered cottage - hugely recommended! Andrew & Andreia

About the host

Host profile image
We are a family of four (and very old dog) living in Bristol where we spend most weekends mountain biking in Leigh Woods when not visiting Pembrokeshire.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this part of Pembrokeshire after spending many years holidaying here. We stumbled upon Bangeston in a state or disrepair and decided to embark on an eco refit.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the fantastic beaches, wildlife and the countryside that this area offers and love relaxing, surfing and just being on the beach building sandcastles or exploring rockpools. Many can be deserted even in the height of summer and Freshwater West is world class in all respects. We think we have created a special place with its traditional wobbly walls and old fashioned slate floors but with the comforts of underfloor heating.
