THE GRAN CANARIAN PALMS
The city has five beaches, of which the most important one is Las Canteras. Located in the north of the city, the uniqueness of this beach of golden sand resides fundamentally in its bar, a calcareous reef more than 100 000 years old. The bar almost runs the 3100 meters of length of the beach parallel to the shore and at a distance of 200 meters, so it is a natural breakwater and provides a calm water in much of it. With an annual average temperature of 21º - 20º in the water-, it also has a unique ecosystem, with different habitats and abundant fish richness.
