Excellent stay

Upon our arrival we were promptly greeted and welcomed. We were escorted to the cabin and given a complete tour with explanation of amenities location and information. All were friendly, polite & informative. Cabin was clean and well furnished. The addition of the outside shower is a must try under the stars!

Home away from home

First there’s Ann. She meets you at the door. She made us feel as though we’d been there before. We were then introduced to Jay, who showed us our cabin where we would stay. We got settled in and went on to experience a lovely and charming farm for my birthday!! Food was incredible and the jacuzzi was grand and all of this is thanks to Ann! She made my birthday as happy as could be And treated my Shih Poo MaryJane like family We loved our stay and will be back for a stay Thanks Etheridge Farms for a wonderful Birthday!!!! Miss Ann is amazing! We will absolutely be back!

I’m sorry - I’ve been rather busy and was putting off leaving a review so that I could give it the attention it deserves; alas, I’m at the last day and find myself scrambling to leave a well-deserved positive review for this establishment. The place is not hard to find and is in “the country”, but there are plenty of places to go nearby if you need anything. The property itself is nice and I only wish we had come when there was actual fruit to pick (but we still had an amazing time!) Miss Ann is a lovely and gracious host and honestly one of the best cooks I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing! We paid a little extra to have her cook food for one evening for our anniversary and had to take great pains *not* to eat until we were physically suffering because the food was *that* good! (Lol!!!) We liked the property and there are many fun things to do nearby (especially hiking and canoeing). We also enjoyed that it wasn’t too far away from Houston (strange, I know!!), but we wanted to visit someone special to us who just started school there and were happy that it was a fairly quick and pleasant drive. The cabins are cute & at first glance “rustic” but had very comfortable beds & linens as well as a bathroom heater, very responsive climate controlled heating & a/c units, a nice front porch (w/swing!) and my husband’s favorite: the outdoor shower! We brought dvd’s galore but needn't have bothered; there were some movies as well as books, magazines and board games - & Mr. Jay loaned us one of his favorite dvd’s (which we watched.) There were a few condiments (maybe bring more if you’re fancy) but a well-stocked little cabin with more than enough of what we needed - even nice robes for when you finished your refreshing outdoor shower! There are 2 cabins somewhat close together and another on the other side of the “big house” (where Miss Ann lives). I initially thought maybe the cabin next to us (which was occupied) might be “too close” but I’m happy to say we never heard a peep and felt very comfortable and secluded despite not really being that far from anyone else. If you ask ahead of time, you may be able to bring a small pet (just be courteous!) I can’t imagine a demographic that wouldn’t like it here - though perhaps with the 2 steps in/out, it’s not very accessible to someone in a wheelchair or with mobility issues. Oh, breakfast was FANTASTIC! (And included!) Love you, Miss Ann! Hope to see you again soon!

weekend get away

If you love the outdoors this is the place to stay. We stayed in the cabin on blueberry hill, it was secluded and comfortable with hundreds of fireflies at night. fishing pond and walking trails near by, amazing breakfast and I would highly recommend the dinner. Ms. Ann is an awesome host as well my daughter fell in love with her and would have stayed if I had given her the option to. We will definitely be going back in the fall and trying out a different cabin on the property.

Birders!!

A very special place. Ann, the hostess, is excellent, yummy biscuits and jelly from the farm in the morning!, and she’s provided everything you need. Our cabin was very private on the gorgeous grounds of the farm. Yes, it’s an hour from high island but I’d much rather stay at this special spot than Comfort Inn! I will definitely try to return...and I’d love to rent the whole place for a wedding.

Rustic charm and southern hospitality

Ann was very welcoming to all our guests. The reviews do not lie, her homemade biscuits are delicious! Can’t beat the wide open spaces on the property. There was tons of room to explore with our 2&4 year old. Even if we missed a fruit picking season. We had a wonderful bonfire and picked up wood on our way to the property off the main road. Cabins are as advertised, nothing fancy but quite clean. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

A wonderful little oasis

What a great place to stay ! Ann is a wonderful host, she is kind and friendly and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! She was accommodating of our gluten free request and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. The farm is beautiful. There are fun little hikes and the location next to Big Thicket is ideal. The cabin in nice and cozy too - beds are nice. Bathroom is large and the outdoor shower is fun :) “Kitchen” is basic but has everything you need, especially considering breakfast is provided. We had a great time !!

Attentive Hosts

Ann and Bill are possibly the most attentive and thoughtful hosts one could imagine. They were welcoming, accommodating and solicitous of how they could make us comfortable with our level of Covid precautions, etc. The kids loved the hot tub and we enjoyed walking the property and a nearby state park. It is the country so the cabin hosts some bugs as well ;) To be expected on a farm. There is lots of gorgeous sky to see and we definitely want to come back to ick some fruit when it is ripe.

All around Excellence!

Exceptional lodging and hospitality! Ms. Ann’s food is amazing! We had dinner and breakfast and were not disappointed. Both Ms. Ann and Mr. Jay were incredibly friendly and welcoming. This was the perfect getaway for our family, which includes two teenage city boys and a small dog. Looking forward to coming back! Short drive to Big Thicket National Park. Sea Rim State Park (on the Gulf Coast) was just over an hour away and well with it. Thank you Ms. Ann and Mr. Jay for helping provide a wonderful family vacation for us! God Bless you both!

Miss Ann- I love people and my guests and enjoy cooking Also love The Farm and letting others enjoy this beautiful area. The Farm has been Ethridge Bed & Breakfast since 2003, and I have had many wonderful visitors and many return visits! We serve a big
Texas country breakfast each morning, included with your stay. I also prepare dinners,
with advance notice and additional charge, for my guests.

Why they chose this property

My three cabins are like small homes, away from home - very comfortable with AC & Heat, greats beds (I have been told), porch with swing, and beautiful grounds. 2 cabins have outdoor showers(inside also)! Decorated with antiques. Pond for fishing and hiking trails. Guest are invited to pick fruit (in season) from our orchard.

What makes this property unique

Relax and get away from the City sounds! Stroll the property and enjoy nature!
