Brilliant family house
We were a family party of 16 over Christmas and had a brilliant time. The rooms are all large and can cope with a group of diverse ages - 14 to 72. The dining room seats 16 very comfortably and the sitting room (with some furniture movement likewise). We did not make use of either the tennis court or swimming pool because of the weather but I know they would have been if we had been there in the summer. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped although if you are cooking anything in particular you might want to take your own stuff. The owner and manager could not have been more helpful. The bedrooms are comfortable and there seemed to be plenty of hot water. I highly recommend for a family gathering.

Lovely relaxing house with everything we could ask for.
My friend and I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this property. The owner was very responsive and check-in was very easy. We had a little trouble with the oven on the first night but this was sorted after a quick phone call. Would definitely love to stay again.

Great place for a weekend away
We had a great weekend at Conyboro. Communication from the owners was good. The house is huge and generally very nice if a bit run down in places. You also don't get the entire property, just the central part and there are various restrictions on use as a result. Overall however a very good place for a weekend away with a large group of friends and perfectly placed for Glyndebourne.

Very spacious property
We had a wonderful long weekend at Conyboro house. The property was perfect for celebrating a 90th birthday with 4 generations ranging in age from 2 to 90. The property is very spacious and both inside and out with plenty of room for 16 people to enjoy time together or find a quiet space when you want a bit of time on your own. The kitchen is very well equipped with an Aga and an oven, plenty of fridge and freezer space and two dishwashers. There are lots of activities for everyone to take part in and we made use of all of them. The bedrooms are spread out around a lovely galleried landing which made for extra privacy and meant that early risers didn't disturb those still sleeping. Hot water was in plentiful supply which can sometimes be a problem in a larger property. The property is conveniently placed 10 minutes walk from Cooksbridge Station which is only an hour from London Victoria. There is a pub just 5 minutes walk away and the facilities of Lewes are only a 10 minute drive away. Communication with Karen was very good and Matt gave us a good introduction to the property. I would highly recommend the property for family get togethers.

very inflexible host
we originally booked this venue for a wedding which sadly had to be cancelled due to Covid 19. The owner would not cancel the booking or allow me to change the names on the booking which made it extremely hard for us. In order to not loose our money we got a group of the orginal wedding guests together and decided to go anyway. None of this was ideal and the owner was very tough to deal with. I recommend that anyone who books reads the seperate contract that they offer very carefully. Also the property is very old and tired and doesnt look like the pictures which show it full of stuff which it is not. Beware!

A beautiful home with everything you need
This was a truly beautiful residence with sprawling grounds that made for a very special trip. Karen and Matt were very efficient communicators, and we even got a surprise delivery of local produce which we enjoyed on the coal barbecue. We feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay here and would recommend it to anyone.

The PERFECT house for a country weekend
I have just returned from an incredibly wonderful weekend at Conyboro House. We were a group of 14 friends looking for the quintessential country weekend and we sure got it! The house is even better than the photo's indicate. It is grand! It's spacious and oozes all the charm of a manor house you would expect (including a wood paneled billiard room). The kitchen is lovely and big and had everything we needed to prepare the reasonably extravagant dinners we cooked each night. Two dishwashers and two fridges.. so that was handy. The dining room is a fabulous space with a big table which easily seated the 14 of us. The bedrooms are all spacious (some very grand indeed) and there are plenty of bathrooms as most rooms have an ensuite. There's a good mixture of rooms with double beds and others with single beds which make it perfect for mixed groups and ages. The grounds are stunning.. We really loved the heated swimming pool, tennis court and croquet lawn. We also went on a long ramble in the nearby fields foraging blackberries which quickly found themselves turned into a dessert. There's a lovely big picnic table in the garden which we spent hours at drinking rose ! Also a charcoal BBQ which we used one day too. The setting is lovely.... you are in the country not in town and there are lovely views of the fields from the windows and the garden. Checking in and out was very easy. There is a great pub just a couple of hundred meters away (The Rainbow Pub and Carvery) and it has a great garden as well. The town of Lewes is a short drive from the house and has all the major supermarkets etc so getting supplies is easy! Honestly.. just book this place. It's amazing and a really great house to have a whole lot of fun in!!

Brilliant birthday gathering
Perfect place for a three generations family gathering to celebrate a significant birthday - perfect weather meant the pool was in constant use - lots of space for games and conversations - despite the challenge of the Aga great food was produced - altogether a memorable weekend

Fabulous family weekend
All of the family were impressed with the size of the house and the facilities available to us. It was clean, spacious and well laid out. The snooker table, swimming pool, tennis court and table tennis were enjoyed by both young and old. We would thoroughly recommend this home for a family getaway

Conyboro House, near Lewes. A beautiful, large, elegant, very comfortable house.
There were sixteen of us for a special family celebration. The house was the perfect venue for a gathering of all ages, with plenty to do. The pool was particularly popular, as was the tennis court, billiards table land table tennis. The kitchen with its Aga made a warm gathering point and the large dining room lent itself very well for a special family celebration dinner. Bedrooms are large and comfortable. Caretaker Matt Rees was very helpful, kept the pool in good order and was on hand if needed. Catering was made very easy by Farm shops and Lewes nearby. All in all, a huge success and much recommended.

An idyllic and unique home - perfect for a special gathering
We had the most amazing visit at Conyboro House - an idyllic mansion set in glorious and extensive grounds. We were a party of adults celebrating the 86th birthdays of our Dad’s and our general good fortune in life. The building is extraordinary - soaring spaces flooded with natural light, huge functional kitchen - a proper heart of the home - and endless little snugs and corners to curl up with a drink or a newspaper or for a chat. The bedrooms are elegant and spacious and throughout the house are personal touches of family life - drawings, games, pictures and furniture. The pool and tennis court and billiard room were all well used and we thoroughly enjoyed the gardens and sitting in gentle shade watching the bees and butterflies (literally!). There was always peace and space and we felt very grand having our celebratory supper in the vast dining room with the evening sun streaming in. Every one of our party felt delighted by the completely unique home. We had excellent, warm and helpful communication from the owners and from Matt on our arrival. Thank you so much - you helped us create a priceless memory and we can not recommend your home too highly. Linda, David & Ensemble!

Fabulous get-away for a large group!
Conyboro House was a truly amazing location to welcome 2018. There was plenty of space for everyone and we very comfortably fitted 16 people for our stay. The house was well equipped with everything that we needed and, despite being so large, was warm and welcoming. The adults loved sitting by the fire in the drawing room in the evenings and the kids loved roaming the house and grounds and have requested a return stay during the summer so that they can make use of the pool. Karen and Matt were both helpful and accommodating and we all truly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent
My family and I had a wonderful time in this beautiful house. We were blessed with a week of sunny weather where it only rained during the night ! My grandchildren loved the tennis and swimming pool, as did my sons, although they particularly enjoyed the snooker table. We never actually used the magnificent dining room as there were only six of us and we enjoyed eating in the roomy kitchen alongside the beautiful Aga. A lovely day out to Brighton capped a great week.

Most spectacular house I have stayed in
Conyboro is truly extraordinary - vast in scale, beautifully cared for and with every comfort and convenience one could want. My friends and I went to celebrate a special-occasion weekend and were blown away by every aspect. Swimming, tennis, croquet and a wide selection of living and dining rooms. There were 18 of us, which is the maximum, and the house felt like it accommodated us gladly and with room to spare. I feel sure that my first time at Conyboro will not end up being my last...

Great stay in a gorgeous location
Spent 3 nights here with friends and their children. The house is beautifully laid out and incredibly spacious. Unfortunately, due to the weather we didn't get to appreciate the beautiful grounds and we would love to come back in the Summer. Everything went well, and the only negative was that the house was a little cold and one of the dishwashers didn't work which made a little extra work for us at each mealtime, but nothing too problematic. We would definitely go back.

We've vacationed worldwide and Conyboro is 5 stars
Our first and lasting impression was "WOW"! Conyboro House is VERY impressive and more than I expected for the price and description. My wife and I have travelled with our kids all over the world and have never found anything to compare with the pure relaxation in genteel furnishings and beautiful surroundings as Conyboro House. And only an hour by train from Victoria Station, a few minutes from historic Lewes and many lovely small villages. A great pub is a five minute walk away, numerous good restaurants for eating out were found, and, if you enjoy doing it yourself, an incredibly well stocked kitchen is available. Everything worked and the nearby caretaker was available to answer an occasional call for guidance. We all enjoyed the heated pool and tennis courts as well as hiking over the extensive grounds. Entertainment opportunities range from the excitement of Brighton to the Glyndebourne Opera House. Bottom line, we are still obliged to say WOW!! For just your own family or a collection of friends for as long as you have time available, I would recommend Conyboro house with no hesitation whatever. Boyd

Magnificent Manor House in beautiful surroundings
The house is huge and beautifully kept, larger than expected and very clean. Think Downtown Abbey.... Plenty of space to spread out, the kitchen is enormous and fully equipped including 2 dishwashers!!! The outdoor space is just as impressive. Lovely pool and tennis court and miles of endless paths and empty roads for countryside walks. The house is walking distance to the Cooksbridge train station which we easily took into London for sightseeing day trips. There is so much to do near by from zip lining for the kids to walks on the downs to a quick trip into Brighton by the sea. There is even a traditional English Pub right at the end of the driveway with delicious fish and chips served along with locally brewed Harvey's beer. Glyndebourne is nearby for some of the best Opera in the world (we were lucky enough to get tickets). Our family of 6 (including 4 teenage kids) along with 80 year old grandparents had an outstanding stay. We loved the property, had plenty to do and see and cannot wait to return! I wish we had booked two weeks!!!

Left a bitter taste
Gorgeous property, but unfortunately the owner completely ripped us off and would not give us back a substantial sum of money because we had used one extra bedroom than we were meant to (just for storage and we were happy to pay for the extra cleaning costs). Best avoided.

FABULOUS....MAGNIFICENT... GRAND... AMAZING!
We just returned from Conyboro and are booking again for next year. It's truly spectacular. We barely left the house for 3 days - massive grounds, huge house, SO much space and everything you could need for a truly luxury big group break. Loved it. Many thanks to Karen and her team. Wow!

Stunning country house in a perfect location
This home far exceeded expectations; a stunning mansion over-looking the Sussex countryside with more than enough space and activities for a group of friends to enjoy themselves over a long weekend! (The indoor table tennis & snooker table were a particularly nice surprise) The home is large, grand and spacious, functionally it's well equipped with everything you might need and also has that air of grandeur if you're looking for something a little bit more adventurous (think Downton Abbey). The location is fantastic; just 20 minutes out of Brighton (about an hour and a half drive from London), a great local pub and a large supermarket ten minutes down the road in Lewes. Karen (owner) and Matt (estate manager) could not have been more helpful throughout the entire process; someone was always on hand email or phone whatever the issue and it really did make our stay that much more enjoyable. This is the perfect house for a family or groups of friends/families looking to spend sometime in the idyllic English countryside. Thank you Karen & Matt!
