About this property

Porthole Cottage, Whitepark Bay, Bushmills

Porthole Cottage has a superb location on the Causeway Coastal Route set in farmland above Whitepark Bay. The cover picture is of Ballintoy, a Game of Thrones location and it's only a short drive to the Dark Hedges, also featured in filming Game of Thrones. Many attractions of the Causeway Coast region are just a five minute drive - eg, Bushmills, Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede, Portballintrae, Dunluce Castle and Ballycastle. Ideally placed for visiting Belfast, Londonderry and Donegal. For Daniel O’Donnell fans a day trip to his home area of Kincasslagh in Donegal is a real treat.

Porthole Cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Porthole cottage. The owners Margaret and Bill were so friendly and helpful. The cottage is traditionally furnished with very comfortable beds and is well equipped with all you will need for your stay. The location is perfect for exploring all along the Causeway Coast and inland with a trip to Bushmills Distillery highly recommended as well.

A lovely cottage
Our stay lasted two days and the location of the cottage provided a great spot to explore the Causeway Coast. Margaret were lovely and welcoming hosts. Location is further outside Bushmills than we expected, but it was actually more convenient in our coastal exploration. Great place!

Perfect coastal getaway
Welcoming and generous hosts, the perfect property, especially as we have 2 dogs. The log fire made each evening cosy and the cottage is well appointed with all you could need and plenty of space. Absolute Pleasure.
Lovely cottage. A wonderful couple with whom we instantly bonded. There was a fresh loaf of bread on the kitchen table which we toasted and had for breakfast with butter and jam. The house was central to several sights and restaurants. We were sorry to leave after three days.

Great weekend break
We had a wonderful weekend in this lovely cottage with great hosts Bill and Margaret. We had a lovely get together with good friends and relatives and felt very at home with all we needed for our stay. Our little dog also loved it! The cottage fitted all our needs and had the added bonus of wonderful scenery in close proximity to both White Rocks Beach and Dunseverick harbour. A great base to explore many of the locations featured in Game of Thrones. We hope to return in the near future and will look forward to the stunning scenery!

Great spot
Bill and Margaret were lovely -- communicated thoroughly pre-arrival and were waiting for us when we arrived. There was delicious homemade bread with butter and cream waiting for us. Property was as described -- perfect for us, although could have accommodated several more people. Bonus washer/dryer and all other amenities. Very short walk to the beach -- just watch as it's all downhill which makes the trek back more challenging. We will be back.

Perfect location for Causeway Coast
We had a lovely warm Northern Irish welcome at the cosy Porthole cottage. We had wondered why there was no photo of the cottage on the website and realised it was because the area and proximity to the spectacular White Park Bay and the warmth of the cottage interior outshone the functional look of the exterior of the 200 year old building. We like to cook and were pleased the kitchen is well equipped and everything was spotless. I especially liked the cotton bed linen and towels. The location was ideal for our visits to the wonderful beaches and facilities in Port Stewart, Port Rush and the Antrim Glens not to mention the Giants Causeway. Margaret and Bill were warm and very kind. We would certainly return.
