Wisteria Cottage is a charming period cottage located in the heart of picturesque Topsham, 4 miles from Exeter.

The house sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms and forms an ideal base to enjoy the town’s shops, cafes and restaurants, which are within a short walk, and to explore South Devon.

Set in an idyllic spot on the River Exe, Topsham is an historic town that was once an important port. It retains a quaint maritime feel with Dutch-style merchants' houses, Georgian buildings, boatyards and a busy quayside.

Today, Topsham has an upmarket, cosmopolitan flavour with a mix of stylish boutiques, antique shops, galleries and award-winning food shops and restaurants. Visitors can enjoy memorable sunsets over the estuary, walks in the nature reserve and summer boat trips.

Exeter and the long sandy beaches at Exmouth are 10 mins drive.

The accommodation is arranged over two floors. On the ground floor there’s a cosy sitting room with comfortable seating, a flat-screen Smart TV with Freeview, Netflix and Amazon Prime and a DVD player. The sitting room leads to a spacious, well-equipped eat-in kitchen with all mod cons - including gas cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The dining table seats 4, extendable to 8. French windows open onto a walled sunny courtyard garden offering total privacy.

Upstairs there's a master bedroom with king-size bed with TV, a twin bedroom, and a spacious family bathroom with bath and separate shower.

Due to the central location of the cottage there is a private parking space 250m (around 4 mins walk) from the property for the guests’ exclusive use. Please also be aware that a level of road noise may be experienced.

Wisteria cottage

We enjoyed staying at the cottage. It had everything we needed & we were very comfortable.I was very disappointed that someone let themselves in to empty the bins when collection wasnt due & did so unescorted & without asking..this should not have happened

Home from home

Great location with lots of walks. 5min from railway station. Lots of places to have a drink and relax. The cottage has everything we needed and felt very comfortable. Will definitely be back.

Lovely cottage

We had a great stay at Wisteria Cottage, it was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for a great stay. The location was also excellent with easy access to Exeter and beyond, plus a couple of minutes walk from the shops and riverside at Topsham.

Fabulous Christmas stay

My Mum and I had a fabulous Christmas stay in this gorgeous cosy cottage. Beautiful welcome with Christmas decorations, chocolates and a bottle of bubbly. Exceptionally clean and well equipped. Such a great location. And parking a bonus as a short walk round the corner. We will be coming back hopefully in the summer as a great spot to walk into Topsham.

Practically Perfect

This was the second stay at this cosey cottage . Perfectly situated for walking into town and along the river . Beds comfortable with quality bedding. Courtyard garden was clean and tidy the frount door needs attention due to sticking and really having to push very hard to open and toiket seat is to small for pan which is a little off putting . The private Parking was easy and a bonus in Topsham . Would highly recommended this cottage . cold). Only o )

Lovely cottage, ideally situated

This is my fifth visit to Wisteria cottage in as many years, which says it all really! Ideally situated, dedicated parking space (up the hill), short walk to train station (up the hill) and even nearer to buses, and short walk to shops and restaurants. Characterful cottage well equipped, always clean, and communications with property manager (Alex) and house keeper (Claire) always excellent.

A good holiday

Fantastic cottage

Perfect location to base a visit to Exeter area. Topsham is a picturesque little village with good restaurants and travel links. Cottage itself is really comfortable and pristine. Had a plumbing issue that the owner sorted within an hour. Will definitely use the next time in Exeter. Parking space was very useful as parking in topsham is limited

Wisteria Cottage, Topsham, Devon

We have stayed in Wisteria Cottage many times over the years. It is one of our favourite places. The cottage is very comfortable, a well equipped kitchen and sunny garden area. It would be nice to have a parasol over the table in the garden, it is a sun trap most of the day. Topsham is a nice town, it has a small supermarket, butcher, greengrocer, cheese shop and bakery, plus many more independent shops. There are plenty of places to eat, all are excellent, The Lighter Inn does a lovely Sunday roast, as do many other places, we just couldn’t try them all on this trip. Denley’s is an excellent Indian Restaurant, definitely worth a visit. We would definitely recommend at trip on Stuart Line Cruises, they do various trips from Exmouth, it is a really good day/evening out and reasonably priced. The No. 57 bus stop is a few yards along the street and runs every 20 minutes, it is approximately 15 minutes into Exeter and about the same time in the opposite direction to Exmouth. Hopefully we’ll be back again next year.

Thank you — we have a comfy and cosy stay. The cottage was a perfect location. Appreciated the additional parking a short walk away. The cottage was well equipped. Beds comfortable and bedding smelled amazing and soft!

Great place to stay

Wisteria cottage is comfortable and convenient. Having a secluded garden to relax in was a great bonus. Parking is difficult in Topsham so having a parking spot was so useful. We would book again.

Great Choice

It was a lovely place for our visit to Devon. Well set up and comfortable. Was a little unsure initially as it had so many 10/10 ratings so thought it might be too good to be true however having stayed there I understand why. Thoroughly recommend it.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Wisteria Cottage. Alex was very easy to work with, and there was valuable information provided during the course of our stay. Perfect!

Property was perfect for myself, my sister and Mum. Everything you might need was provided and the property was very clean and comfortable in a fantastic location. Lots of pubs within walking distance and a nice Co-op for food shopping. Excellent location near the train station for travelling to Exeter, Exmouth and Dawlish etc. Parking space was not far away and easy to find. Stairs were a bit steeper than we realised for our Mum in her 80's which wasn't mentioned or photograped in the advert but had a good sturdy handrail and didn't cause any problems. Walk in shower was excellent and another reason we chose the property due to our Mum and accessibility. All in all a wonderful property and we would definitely stay again and would highly recommend to others!

Wisteria cottage

This cottage is exquisite, everything about it is so well thought out, really clean , good bed linen and excellent facilities. It’s laid out well and although two bedrooms very spacious. The courtyard garden is pretty with good garden furniture and very sheltered. Nothing could be improved!
