A slice of heaven

The minute we pulled into this little country retreat, I knew it would be a perfect location for our family to relax after a long day of site seeing. Gladys made our stay a home away from home. She was an excellent host!

What a fantastic place in such an amazing area. Slemish View was the perfect headquarters for us to explore Northern Ireland, my friend and I were able to hit most of the areas we wanted to by staying here. Gladys was great with communication and giving us great directions, I wish I would have been able to meet her but were out so late exploring every day we never got the chance. Place was great, super clean and very accommodating; it was clear Gladys was trying to be the best possible host she could be, and she succeeded. I would stay here again for sure.

Very nice place

We travelled with a family of four (two adults and two teenagers) and enjoyed a very nice house which provided everything we needed, including a welcoming package containing milk, butter and jam and a variety of porridges and bread for the first day. The house is clean and really comfortable. Whenever you need anything, Gladys doesn't get tired of answering questions and making you comfortable, fulfilling even special wishes like fresh milk from the farm nextdoor. The place is very quiet and a good starting point for trips to the coast. Absolutely recommendable.

Happy tourist

What a lovely, clean & comfortable 2 bedroom. Exactly as advertised, but they forgot to play up the beautiful country setting! Complete with cows walking down the driveway most mornings. Thank you Gladys for all your wonderful suggestions for our touring days, all the suggestions were spot on!

About the host

Hosted by Gladys Simpson

Host profile image
I have been a host since 2017. I love meeting new people from all over the world and offer them a 'home' from 'home'. I also love to travel and have been to the Great Barrier Reef, the Rocky Mountains in Canada and also the Grand Canyon. Another pastime is walking, especially along our north coast here in NI and you can see some of these places in my photographs of Slemish View.

Why they chose this property

Slemish View is a home from home with beautiful countryside views all around. The living room has recently been refurbished with new flooring and rug, two new settees - one is a sofa bed giving more choice for larger families

What makes this property unique

The beautiful village of Broughshane which was crowned the "UK's Village of the Year 2018" is only 5 miles away from Slemish View. They have also won numerous awards for their vibrant floral displays which can be found decorating every corner, especially in spring and summer. There is a beautiful river walk at The Buttermilk Bridge Path, play area and a water fowl and pet animal enclosure. A great day out for kids and its all free!!! Lots of coffee shops, restaurants and even an ice cream parlour.
Slemish Mountain lies just outside the village and is a popular spot among hikers. The mountain also served as a Game of Thrones filming location.
The village and surrounding area are well worth a visit.
