Karinya is in a fantastic location for visiting Skye. Out of the hustle of Portree, it sits with a view toward the Red and Black Cuillin Hills. There is a brand new sauna downstairs, a fire in the living room and a well thought out layout with a BBQ available on request outside. Located 15 minutes from the Talisker distillery and about 20 minutes drive from the Fairy Pools on the main circular road around the north end of the island. Only 2.5 miles from the ever popular Sligachan, which is a central point for embarking on any walk or expedition in the Cuillin Hills. Ideal for your exploration of Skye and venturing into the mountains, or indeed to get away from normal life. We are delighted to add Karinya to what we can offer here on Skye. Excellent stay
Perfect base for exploring Skye. The house was lovely and very warm, which is a plus when visiting in February!
The views from the house are stunning. Lovely big kitchen and very comfortable rooms. Can’t fault it.
There was a problem with the clothes dryer not working, but it was quickly resolved, otherwise the stay was perfect. The location and view from the front lawn helped make our trip. Thank you!

Nice cottage in a great location.
When we arrived, the clothes dryer had been removed for repair. Once it was brought to the owner's attention, it was resolved. Beyond that, a perfect stay, we would definitely come back. Modern kitchen and baths. We liked that the location was a 15-20 minutes drive to Portree, nice cafe's and good for getting supplies. But it was also far enough away where you really felt at one with the surroundings. Amazing views from the front lawn!
The house was so lovely and cozy!! It had so many really nice features! The beds were comfortable and nice linens. Kitchen was very well equipped also!! Loved that tea kettle! It was so nice to come home to a comfortable warm place from hiking out in the cold all day! We loved sitting around the fire in the evening. It was so cute and spacious. My son used the sauna and said it was great. I don’t know if there was something wrong with the dryer but our clothes never dried in it so we just hung them on the rack. We couldn’t get the bedroom tv to work and found no instructions for it which was a small thing. It was so quiet and peaceful there! Such a lovely view also! We loved our stay here so much!! Thank you!!

Wonderful stay!
Clean, comfortable, warm and well equipped house with great views. If you’re in Skye to walk in the hills, this place is in the perfect location. It has everything you need for an enjoyable stay and was immaculately presented. Some nice touches like a bottle of wine on arrival, plus things like tea and coffee, toiletries etc. Would definitely recommend!

cottages was lovely it meet our needs. It was lovely that each each master bedroom had its own ensuite. The kitchen was well equipped with plates etc the only issue is found in the kitchen was the can openers did not open cans.
The views are amazing the space is relaxing, overall the cottage is good option. Portree is a nice place however you will require car to commute to town.
Overall, loved it. The location was excellent for the day trips we had planned.
The main downside was the lack of a traditional shower on the upper floor. There was a tub with a hand-held wand thing in the master bath and that was the only bathroom on that level - the 2nd bedroom on that level didn't have access to a bathroom. Downstairs there was one bedroom and 2 bathrooms - one en suite and one right next to the room - both with showers.

A most excellent stay
We had a great stay at Karinya. We’ve given everything a 5 star rating and with good reason. We did have a small glitch with the wi-fi, but the Property Managers were with us within the hour and quickly resolved our issue. Overall, the house and location are great. Highly recommend.
My husband, two friends, and I stayed 3 nights in early September. The house was comfortable and well stocked. Unfortunately, the overwhelming musty smell from the only communal bathroom with a shower was a huge issue. The host picked up immediately when I called, and told us to run the taps for 10 minutes and that should help. While it helped for a bit, running the water led to a sulfur smell that was so horrible we felt sick. They came to check out the issue the next day and just cleaned the bathroom again and left an air freshener, which didn't fix anything. We had to keep that bathroom shut with the window open for our whole trip to keep the house from smelling. The upstairs bathroom was just a tub with a sprayer, not an actual shower as advertised, so one shower for four people was annoying and not what we paid for.
The property has a good layout and is user friendly, on first appearance it is presented very well.
Upon check in we were advised that there was an odour coming from the ground floor bathroom, due to recent rains. Call me skeptical but rainfall is not an unusual occurrence in Skye, I’d guess there is a blockage that simply hasn’t been fixed and certainly wasn’t attended to during our stay. End result was a bad odour coming from the bathroom, very musty in nature, might have even been a blocked septic tank. Rather than heavy rains I’d say more likely a lack of maintenance following the peak booking period, either way, it was akin to what I’d expect staying in a camp ground paying £5 a night and you could smell that odour in the house and definitely when in bed, not ideal. There was also a dripping tap in the kitchen, not a nuisance per se but to me indicative that maintenance is overdue on the property.
Save for the bad odour in the house it could’ve been a great stay. Great outlook from the property, on a main road but little to no noise and certainly very quiet at night. A bit of a drive to Portree for provisions but peacefulness of the location offset that minor inconvenience.

Plumbing Shortfalls
Property looked great and sounded great, whilst a user friendly property with a nice outlook and peaceful position the poor state of the plumbing meant you had to deal with a 24 hour a day musty odour from the bathrooms on the ground floor. Not what you should have to put up with for the price.
The problem was known at check-in, supposedly due to recent heavy rains (on Skye!!!!!) but seemed more an issue of a plumbing/septic blockage hence the bad odours floating through the house. Would have been nice at least if some attempt had been made to rectify during our 5 night stay alas nothing was done at all.
My boyfriend and I stayed here with another couple and it was perfect for us. We had tons of room to spread out, and the house was super clean with nice furnishings. It's a little out of the way, but we liked that compared to being in Portree. Loved the view of the stunning waterfall right from the front yard, and it was convenient to the Fairy Pools and other hikes we wanted to do. Would stay again if we every make it back to Skye!

Isle of Skye Weekend
We had a great family vacation in this home. It was beautiful, spacious, clean and perfectly located. Would recommend to any family looking to visit the Isle of Skye.
This modern home served us very well for our stay. There were six of us including 2 teens. Property very clean and well supplied. 2nd floor gets warm but owners provide fans so we were just fine. Lots of comfy places to sit and enjoy a meal, a book or just the beautiful views. We all did the puzzle and that was fun! Thank you
Other than the inability to check in online our stay was wonderful. The property manager was very helpful at the start. Karinya has a magnificent setting and the modern "cottage" was pleasant and that made for a memorable stay. Thank you!

Lovely Spot
Location is excellent and the house fit the 6 of us comfortably. Pictures make it look much larger than reality but space sufficient. Two improvements would be helpful - we had 6 people and number of glasses and basic dishes were exact at six or a little less in some categories, which was inconvenient. The house was heated, but actually too well heated. We could not reprogram the thermostats in each room and were uncomfortably hot. So basic printed out instructions on systems would’ve been helpful. The small iPad that was left which presumably had these instructions was not charged and we could not figure out the charger. These are all simple fixes for what is a wonderful rental property.

Highly Recommend
This was a great place to stay, especially with small children. It was a very safe environment for us to be cooking or relaxing while the children played. The location being so central meant minimal time in the car for the kids while we travelled around the island. We had a big storm while we were there and we felt very secure. The staff were excellent and were available on the phone whenever needed.
While not in town, we enjoyed the beautiful home, the location to visit Skye and the surrounding countryside. Home maybe not be for the people who want a town experience, but it is a beautiful and comfortable home for the tourist.
