It was okay just a few constructive comments, 1 no toilet paper in Brothers toilet, 2 Coffee, Sugar, Tea tins need refilling 3 , Window Sills could have done with a clean apart from these items all was ok and the Host was very pleasant
We enjoyed our short stay at the barn. The host Jackie was very friendly and kindly allowed us the use of a field to run the dogs, which we (and they) appreciated very much. There are also lovely walks from the property and Dovedale is only a short drive away. We would definitely return if we are ever up this way again. Thank you.

Liked: Communication
Fairly clean and tidy with good range of equipment. Good location with easy access to surrounding footpath network, including Tissington Trail. Property is small and movement is quite restricted in the bedrooms. It could also do with some redecoration as it is a bit tired. Host very friendly.
Based on a farm, Owl barn was a small unit but had everything you needed for your stay(except a hairdryer). The property does need upgrading, in particular the bathrooms and the layout makes space feel tight around the bed in the double room for example. The host Jackie was very friendly and eager to please. We enjoyed the wine and chocolate on arrival and our dog loved to run about in the fields behind the farm after being given permission to do so. The property is next to the lane which requires one to be extra careful with dogs and children. It would be safer if the garden was fenced off maybe? We enjoyed lots of walks from the property and ate out locally.

Great communication from Jackie. We are a family of four with a young dog. We were allowed to used the fields outside their house and our dog had the best time of his life running in the meadows. The access to Tissington trail it’s just on the other side of the road. Pub at the end of the lane but you need to drive. Not far from Ilam. We had a great stay. Thank you.
We booked the property and had an email exchange with the owner where they gave check in instructions. On the day before check in I sent an email and got no response. On the day of check in I sent email and had no response. I reached the property around 9.30 PM and no one was there to check us in. It was dark and the place was secluded. Not a good feeling. We decided to check ourselves in and to our surprise another family was already there in the same unit that the owner had rented us. We were traveling with children and by that time we were tired, scared and exhausted. We and the other family tried contacting the owner and they could not be reached. Apparently the owner had booked the same unit through another popular website with dates overlapping with our reservation. This is the worst home stay experience we have ever had. We finally had to pay extra to find another last minute reservation. We are yet to get our full refund. Don’t recommend this property and don’t recommend VrBO UK. I tried contacting them
Multiple times with my concerns but they are not helpful, they want me to make an international US phone call instead of them giving a call and help me with the situation. Don’t wish this experience for anyone. Owner later apologized but that came late and was of no use, the fact we could not reach them when we needed their communication the most is a big red flag for us.
Good communication with property owner before and during our stay. Nice and clean welcoming converted barn, ideal for our family of 4. Lovely picturesque location and close to the A515 for exploring north or south of the area. No washing machine or dryer which would be handy given the walking and weather in the area. Really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back.
Comfortable barn conversion, friendly helpful host, peaceful location near Dovedale and Tissington Trail, but also Ashbourne amenities not too far away, and nicely placed to explore White Peak - less than 30 min from Bakewell, Buxton, Monsal Trail, Chatsworth - and 5 min from Ilam and Dovedale.
Ideal bolthole for a short visit to The Peak District and Alton Towers
When staying away generally we try not to spend more than £100 per night, so this was a little over our normal budget and probably not such high spec, but it was a last minute decision to go away and we wanted somewhere close by to Alton Towers.
Jackie was a lovely welcoming host and the property gave us the space we needed for a two night short break with our children.
It was a shame we chose such a wet weekend, but was nice to see the scenery of the Peak District when the sun finally came out on Sunday.
Little welcoming touches of fresh eggs, Damson Jam and Gin were much appreciated.
We had a lovely stay - Jackie was amazing from start to finish (even standing in the road to guide us in when we had a satnav fail) and providing us with loads of tips on the area. We loved the cottage and the location was perfect (as long as you have a car) to explore the entire Peak District. My only regret is not booking longer. I'll definitely be back.
