Very quiet place with great cabins all services you need, breakfast was awesome as well as lunch.

This was our second visit, we love the quiet and relaxing environment, this time we ordered food in advance so it was just great.
Although night was cloudy on 12/19/20, just 2 nights before great Jupiter and Saturn conjunction (every 800 years), I was to steal from the sky a couple of nice images of the two planets, just before to turn into a bright star on 12/21/20, it was awesome!
This place is great for stargazing because is a dark sky away from city light pollution, this time we were here to watch a rare Blue Moon in 2021. It was totally awesome!
We ordered great sandwiches and salads from Sara restaurant in advance so we got great Blue Moon with great snacks!
We love Larry Bruce Gardens cabins.

After a 2.5 hr drive,we found ourselves at the Ratcliff Recreation Area in Davy Crockett National Forest. My husband and I, both born in Texas, late 40s,finally made it to the forest. After a hike and a picnic lunch, we got to stay in the forest at Grandpappy's cabin. Loved the decor, the huge windows, the old timey radio, beautiful flowers, the big bed,the shower, friendly staff and owner, and surrounding forest. We didn't get to stay for Sunday buffet but had breakfast delivered. Definitely recommend!
My wife and I visit this place often to meditate, relax and recharge. Property is beautiful with great food, if you are lucky you might get the pot roast!
All salads are great options as well as sandwiches , fruit platter is a must for all day snack. Kennard is a dark sky perfect for stargazing and astrophotography, just about 2-1/2 hours from Houston, TX, make this property a excellent choice if you like to escape the big city and relax.
Sara, Bruce and the staff are awesome.
We fell in love with this stay, the surrounding area, the owners, and each other all over again! Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend the Jeep adventure with picnic lunch! If your stay includes a Sunday, the brunch is a must! Definitely plan to go back!
The little cottage was so cute and the property was beautiful!
We LOVED the breakfast!

Best place to get away and relax!!!
We had the most amazing time. The owners Mr. and Mrs. Bruce are exceptional hosts and make you feel right at home. Our beautiful cabin was perfect and more than we could have ever expected. Breakfast was served each morning at our front door and it was always delicious. The saltwater pool was clean and refreshing. Our Sunday Brunch was equally as delicious and we were made to feel as if we were family the entire stay. The family values that the Bruce's believe in are evident in every aspect of the property. It's the little things that mean the most and one would need to stay at the property to fully appreciate the beauty and comfort offered there. We will definitely be returning as often as possible!!!!
