Quiet cabin close to everything

We spent three nights here with two families for a short vacation. The location was fantastic because it was very quiet and had a great back deck yet we were still close to everything we wanted to do during our stay. The kids loved the game room and all the space in the basement. Jerry was easy to reach and helpful.

Birthday trip

This was a trip for my daughter's birthday with family and some college friends. The game room kept the younger adults entertained while we were at the cabin and there were tons of attractions and restaurants very close. The layout of the cabin was nice as well because we didn't feel like we were right on top of each other. We really enjoyed our weekend here!

Bed Bugs!

We only stayed one night and found bed bugs. We left the property and paid for another local cabin. Communication with the owner was horrible. I spent multiple hours communicating through VRBO to get a refund on the property. I provided pictures to VRBO and offered to send them to the owner as well. I did receive a refund. Other details:The property is in need of maintenance. Here are a few notes:-The video game system does not operate properly-The linens and mattresses are stained-Showers/tubs are yellowed-Recliners in the living room are broken-Master bedroom fire alarm is missing--Overall the house just seems dirty and in need of maintenance.

Recent stay at the Lost Bear Cabin

We recently stayed at this cozy cabin for a family trip, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The cabin was clean, well-maintained and had everything we needed. Communication with the host was very positive and he was quick with his responses. Our kids loved the game room and it kept them pretty occupied during our whole stay. The beds were clean and comfy. The location was a little strange with the RV parks in front and back, but it didn’t bother us. The cabin is actually right by the Parkway, which made driving to our activities very convenient. Overall, it was a great experience and would definitely recommend it to others!

Not as advertised

Everything in this cabin is in a state a disrepair. It was so disappointing. The outside has not been kept up, with branches growing across the front steps and vines hanging off the back from the gutter all the way to the deck. Every recliner on couch and loveseat is broken. The jacuzzi tub does not work. The hot tub jets do not work and haven't for a very long time by the looks of it. The Pac Man arcade game does not work. The joystick only moves side to side-no up and down. Only 2 pool cues have any felt on the tips. The rest are not usable. The air hockey pucks do not float on the table. This cabin has NONE of the amenities advertised. And although it does not claim to have a view, its worth noting that it sits in the middle of 2 RV parks. The cabin has cobwebs hanging off the decor and only seats 5 people for eating. There is absolutely no room in that kitchen. We were very disappointed and would not recommend. wouldrecnotrecommend.midbroken.

Great location!

The property is nice. There are quite a few maintenance issues that need to be addressed and would make the property perfect. The hot tub was not working and owner stated it was being repaired that week but it clearly hasn’t been operational in a long while. We own a hot tub and it was very apparent that the tub hadn’t run in a long while. The living room TV needs to be replaced as the volume doesn’t work well and if you turn it up to watch a movie there is a loud roaring sound. So no family movies. The games in the game room are not fully functional so only one video game was able to be used. The air hockey needs new pucks and had some other small issues so it was not functioning well enough to actually play. The games and hot tub were the main reasons for us choosing this cabins and although the cabin was very accommodating for our size family, there was little for the kids to do since most of the things they wanted to use were not operable and there is no yard on the property at all to play outside. If you are looking for a nice cabin this cabin is nice just don’t rely on the photos of the amenities to make your decision. The owner was very nice and the price and our checking was great , just needs some updating or maintenance of the amenities.

Don't do it

Lots of issues noted: • Check in process was a problem due to faulty alarm system, had to spend significant amount of time on the phone with ADT to turn it off. • Most importantly, this place was FILTHY. Socks were black the entire time. So much clutter and it was all very dirty and dusty, doesn’t appear that wall knickknacks have ever been dusted/cleaned. Sheets in the bunk room had crumbs in them upon arrival. • Found a human molar tooth on the basement floor. • Not an adequate number of towels for a larger group, even if washing them daily. • Wasps in the small bedroom upstairs--we killed several. • Trail of ants coming in the kitchen under the door, which clearly was damaged by water. We ended up purchasing ant bait and this seemed to help, but the door needs fixed. • No hot tub, as it was down for "repairs", although I doubt we would have used it anyway given the cleanliness of the place. • Televisions in kitchen, bunk room and one upstairs bedroom did not work. • No remote in upstairs bedroom for the light/fan so we had to remove lightbulbs nightly to turn the light off but keep the fan working. • Shower rod balanced on top of trim instead of being utilized correctly (tension rod), causing water to run on the bathroom floor. • Curtain rod in living room barely hanging on one end. • Kitchen faucet loose. • Keurig leaked coffee all over counter. • Landscaping overgrown, trees growing in gutters. Has potential to be awesome, but needs significant maintenance.

Bring Your Tools, Extra Batteries and Wasp Spray!

Before arriving we were informed by Jerry (the owner) that the hot tub was broken. Within 30 minutes of arriving myself and my daughter were stung by two different wasps INSIDE the upstairs bedroom. We were awoken at 12:20am by the smoke dector and heat sensor blaring loudly. We could not turn them off because we didn’t have the alarm code. The alarm panel went off again at 4:30am in the morning. We spent 45 minutes the next day on the phone with ADT (alarm company) trying to get the alarm panel errors cleared off. We had to replace batteries in the motion sensor and smoke detector. I was not planning on having to do home maintenance on my vacation. The upstairs toilet chain broke because it was being held together by a twist tie. . The filtered water does not work. There is a leak detector in the kitchen that went off and is crazy loud. Took us awhile to find it and get that turned off. We stayed 5 nights and one of the nights was TERRIBLE because we were woken up twice. I asked the owner to refund us 1 nights stay for all our trouble and he has refused. This cabin is well decorated with all the cabin vibes and in a great location. BUT I WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN.

Our vacation

There were ants in the kitchen. The K5 water filtration in the kitchen didn't work. It was too cold in the bunkroom and game room. We could only find one thermostat for the house. The house was clean and bathrooms. We liked the location and plenty to do for the kids. We would probably stay here again if these things were fixed.
