About this property

The Old Dairy, Dilton Vale Farm

The setting is beautiful and quiet as it is completely surrounded by fields, tucked away within the landscape where you can completely relax and unwind with no noise or distraction. The property overlooks the Mill pond fed from a natural spring.

Solitude and yet close to Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Longleat, Center Parcs, cycling routes, Castle Combe, footpaths, bridleways and many more places to discover.

A detached / entire property with its own access and bifold doors opening up into the private courtyard where you can sit and watch the sun go down over the mill pond.

The Old Dairy and Stables are luxury converted farm buildings with wifi, underfloor heating, big open log fire, luxury bathrooms, high ceilings and original beams with stone and wood floors throughout. There are lots of original features and it has been tastefully decorated throughout.

We are ideally located between Bath, Stonehenge, Salisbury and Stourhead to explore the surrounding area with Longleat right on our doorstep. If looking for a more relaxing holiday there are lots of country walks right from the front door.

We want you to feel that this is your home from home while you are staying. Therefore you have full access to the property and the lawns and paths around the mill pond. Wifi is included and it's super-cosy.

The living room and kitchen are set on the same level but there is a step from the patio into the kitchen door. From the kitchen there is one step down into the boot room where there is a toilet. Also off the kitchen is the hallway to the bedrooms with 2 separate single steps to the first bedroom and family bathroom. Another single step to the middle bedroom and a final single step into the master bedroom. The en-suite in this bedroom has a single step up. Each bedroom has a door opening into the patio.

There is plenty of room for car parking around the property for a number of vehicles.

We live in the main farmhouse a hundred or so meters away so you can enjoy your stay with privacy and peace & quite nestled in the countryside, but are always nearby and happy to help with any problems or questions.

Whether you are into doing nothing, cycling, walking, shopping, exploring or whatever; this property and its location ticks all the boxes.

We are dog friendly! We have 2 lovely friendly labradoodles who will want to make friends with your dogs if you choose to bring them. We just ask that dogs do not go on the beds or sofas.

Should you wish for an early check-in or late check-out this can be arranged on request only and would be an additional £30.

Blissful setting in wonderful conversion

Setting is peaceful and glorious with easy access to footpaths, walking routes and all the minor and major towns and cities around. Nicole was an amazing and accommodating host and super helpful. The conversion is in an idyllic setting and well kitted out with a lovely homely feel. The weather was not in our favour but we would like to return in summer as the pond and grounds were fabulous. A localy spot!!

Great for Christmas

All 5 of us - 3 Brits, 2 from USA aged 91-40 dog - agreed that this was the most comfortable, well equipped and furnished rental that we have had. We were able to relax and enjoy preparing festive feasts and local walks

Perfect relaxing location for a local wedding

A really comfortable property beautifully converted in a perfect & peaceful setting. Everything we needed & more was provided & host Nicole made us feel very welcome & special as we were preparing for & celebrating a family wedding nearby. Although we were advised not to use the enormous bath it didn’t matter…the showers were wonderful & the beds so comfy. We loved the outside area & surroundings too. Just a lovely weekend.

Old dairy delight

We had a wonderful bank holiday weekend at the old dairy, dilton vale farm. It was in a truly special setting and the old dairy had been very tastefully and beautifully renovated . We would love to come back and we all enjoyed being there but also close to many great walks and places of interest

What an incredible place to stay!

The surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful, serene, and peaceful—everything you could want from a quintessential English countryside holiday. For my family and me, visiting England for a much-anticipated vacation, this cottage was the perfect home away from home. The cottage was well-equipped with everything we could possibly need, allowing us to cook all our favorite dishes every night. The location was ideal for day trips to Bath and offered plenty of opportunities for picturesque countryside walks. Nicole was the perfect host, along with her two lovely dogs, Rusty and Pepper. They made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. Nicole provided us with helpful information about local places to eat and shop, making our stay even more enjoyable. We couldn’t have asked for a better holiday experience, and we look forward to returning in the future!

Little piece of paradise

What a gorgeous find. We came to stay here for my and my 6 yr old twins birthday co-insiding with a trip to longleat. From the minute we arrived, the property was just gorgeous! My 8 yr old son and the girls adored the two dogs that kept coming to say hello and me and my husband loved the peace and beautiful grounds. The property itself was immaculate with a well equipped kitchen housing everything from kids plates and cups, to baking dishes, multiple utensils etc. As someone who loves cooking this was a real bonus! We cannot wait to come back and want to say a huge thank you to our host for making our stay so wonderful.

Beautiful property!

Had a lovely week staying at The Old Dairy. Property was beautiful with everything we needed. My children (aged 3 & 6) very much enjoyed exploring the gardens and swinging on the tyre swing plus it was great for my older parents too who enjoyed sitting in the courtyard with their dog! Great location for visiting Bath and Longleat. Plus plenty of walks in the immediate area. Would definitely return. Owner incredibly helpful and easy to contact.

We really enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous property - the photos don’t do it justice and it exceeded our expectations. It was really peaceful and quiet with lots of lovely walks nearby.

About the host

I'm an Australian living in England since 1998, as I married a Pom!
We bought the property many years ago and have spent this time doing up the Old Dairy, the Main Farmhouse and landscaping the surrounding grounds.
Its been a labour of love and you will see what I mean when you have a look at the book of what it used to be like in The Old Dairy!!

Why they chose this property

We have no neighbours overlooking us and the property is set within its own fields. We have lots of walks from our doorstep and lovely mill pond which the Old Dairy overlooks. Nearby there are charming local villages including Frome which has a monthly market worth visiting, local farm shops selling local produce plus many pubs/cafes serving delicious food.

So much to do and see.......We are very close to Longleat House and Safari Park, so ideal for exploring and well worth the visit. Nearby there are lovely walks in Longleat Forest.
The Old Dairy is set halfway between Bath, Salisbury and Stonehenge so we are ideally located to visit all of these local attractions.
Stourhead is also a short drive and a stunning place to stroll through the gardens where 'Pride and Prejudice' was filmed.
Plus so many more attractions to explore which are listed in a guide book in the property.

What makes this property unique

It's beautiful quiet, rural location. Everyone that visits comments on what a gorgeous spot it is and say the photos do not do it justice.
