Not a great experience

We rented this floating cottage for our family trip to Door County. The area is beautiful, but we did not have a great experience with this rental. 1. When we arrived to the cottage we were informed that one of the wall mounted air conditioning units was not working and were given a fan instead for the first night. The next day we were informed that all of the units were going to be unusable for that night and given a second fan. The third night we were told that they were all working, but were woke in the middle of the night by a giant crunching, grinding noise that would only stop when the unit was turned off. Needless to say, even with two units kind of working we had very restless, hot, sleepless nights due to the humidity and warmth of the rental. 2. On the second night, while sitting on the pier with my 16 year old son, I noticed someone around my truck. They were looking in the windows of my truck that was parked in the spot they provided for me at the marina. When I started walking to my truck to confront him, he quickly moved away from my vehicle and headed away. I sat by my vehicle for awhile watching him and the person eventually came back to where I was. After he approached and made small talk, he accused us of having a dog (we did not), and asked what my kid was doing at the end of the pier. The nicest thing I can say about him would be, at least he did not break into my truck. Not a nice guy. 3. The grill is not on the rental, it is located at the edge of the dock entrance. This would not have been huge, but after the nice gentleman felt entitled and comfortable enough to complete a visual search of my vehicle through the windows with me less than a hundred yards from him, and was none to friendly accusing me of having a dog and mumbling something about my 16 year old kid on the dock(who was doing absolutely nothing wrong)we did not really feel comfortable being there. So we spent as little time at the rental as possible. 3. Two windows have their outside pane broken. Not a big deal but it goes towards the esthetics of the place. We were looking for something different to try, but not at all happy with our experience. We did contact management to voice our displeasure to give them a chance to make things right. They apologized, but that was it. We did not get one good night sleep in the rental because of the broken AC, and after the kind member treated us like excons we never felt comfortable there. Stay somewhere else!

Expectations Exceeded!

What a wonderful water experience in beautiful Sturgeon Bay! The house boat was exceptionally clean and had all the amenities and more! In fact, the 3 on boat air conditioners came in handy at night. The friendly staff was attentive to our every need. The owner was even kind enough to stop by and check if everything was going well. We have already rebooked for next year. If you love water and the great outdoors you will love staying here versus a hotel.

Lovely and unique!

We rented the Mary 1 for our stay in Door County. It is a nice houseboat, well equipped and very comfortable. It was the perfect spot to enjoy all of Door county. The staff, as well as the owner were all very welcoming, helpful and friendly. It just so happened that we were up during Maritime week and we got to enjoy great fireworks with a fantastic view from the upper deck of the boat. The club house was great for watching the Packer game, the shower facilities were well kept and clean. We had easy access to a grill, which we used almost every day. I would definitely rent this houseboat again!

Gentle waves rock you to sleep

We could not have been more surprised on how much we enjoyed our time on the Mary I! This floating cottage was our hub for exploring Door County. Everything that was described about the accommodations and amenities were spot on; to the nicely stocked kitchenette with all of the cooking pots, pans and utensils to the use of the pool and grill. The gentle movement of the cottage with the waves made for a fun experience. No sea-sickness here! The view from the deck allowed us to see the boats on parade in the channel and to soak up the sun! Thanks to Autumn for getting our weekend off to a great start and to an innovative marina owner to allow us to experience what it feels like to live on the water.
