About this property
MANOR COTTAGE, pet friendly, character holiday cottage in Egton
Manor Cottage is a lovely period house located on the stunning Egton Estate – with its 6000 acres of magnificent woodland, pastures and moorland plus the beautiful manor house – and combines elegance with a cosy atmosphere, perfect for a family holiday.
Ground Floor
The arched doorway, flanked by foliage and an olive tree, opens to a stone-flagged, panelled hallway. This leads to a good-size sitting room which has a fabulous, large sandstone fireplace housing a very effective wood burning stove. This is perfect for relaxing with large comfortable sofas to sink into. There is a TV/DVD player sat within an attractive cupboards. In the corner is a charming writing desk to sit and draft your postcards or just relax and read one of the many local magazines.
The kitchen has views over the courtyard and towards the beautiful grounds of the manor house, and has a deep Belfast sink, electric oven and hob, dishwasher plus a generous tall fridge/freezer. There is a dining area with a French farmhouse table and seating for five people. The property’s many original features includes a ‘pulley maid’, a wooden rack for drying/airing clothes which is perfect for when you come off the beach or after a bracing walk across the moorlands.
First Floor
To the first floor is a wide landing, off which lead three bedrooms; there is a smart double bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed, television and wardrobe. There is also a twin bedroom decorated in shades of blue with full size single beds and a tall boy. The single bedroom, which looks out over the wooded area to the rear, has a charming antique brass bed and an original fireplace (decorative use only) plus a closet. There is a good size house bathroom that has a bath with shower over, WC and hand wash basin.
Outside
The front courtyard area has a table and chairs and a BBQ – a lovely spot for enjoying al fresco dining, whether that’s breakfast in the fresh morning air or drinks after dinner, as the stars start to appear.
Amenities: Central heating throughout with a woodburning stove.
Electric oven, hob, microwave, tall fridge/freezer, dishwasher, TV, DVD, WiFi, starter pack of logs inc. in rent. (Additional packets of logs available from the Estate office).
Bed linens and towels inc. in rent.
Cot and highchair available on request.
Off road parking for two or three cars.
Courtyard with furniture and BBQ.

Town: The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, with its superb coastline and close proximity to the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.
