About this property
Spacious thatched cottage with modern facilities near Bridport and Lyme Regis
A tastefully decorated end of terrace thatched cottage in a peaceful lane with views down to the sea from the upstairs rooms.
The original cottage dates from 1655 but it has been extended and modernised to meet the needs of modern families.
Overlooking the Marshwood Vale, the cottage is 5 miles inland from West Bay, in the little hamlet of Bowood.
The ground floor has a large sitting room and a sociable open-plan limestone-floored kitchen/dining room. To the left of the entrance hall there is a utility room and downstairs shower room with WC. Upstairs there are 2 pretty single bedrooms, a double bedroom and a bathroom. At the front of the cottage there is a large garden laid mainly to lawn, with a patio and pond area. At the back of the cottage there is a small suntrap garden with an ancient walled well.
There is a good selection of books and games for all ages.

About the host
Hosted by Anne Barnard

We live in London but Charles is from West Dorset and we both love this area. There is so much to do but our favourite pastimes include exploring the coastline near Charmouth for fossils, shopping in Bridport especially on Market Days, visiting Lyme Regis, driving along the coast road to the Tropical Gardens at Abbotsbury and eating and drinking in pubs and restaurants like the Anchor in Seatown, The New Inn in Stoke Abbott and Brassica in Beaminster. The area is known for its delicious food, available from farm shops such as WashingPool Farm and from the Farmer's Market which is held on the second Saturday of each month. The cottage is close to a number of footpaths such as The Jubilee Trail, The Monarchs Way and of course The South West Coast footpath.
Why they chose this property
This property is unusually spacious for 4 people, with an open plan kitchen/diner which makes meal times sociable. The outside space is also generous and includes a driveway for 2 cars and a large trampoline. The cottage has touches of luxury such as softened water, a wall mounted smart TV, double glazing, a tumble dryer, shower room and many books and games.
What makes this property unique
The view from the upstairs windows down to the sea is appreciated by visitors. The peaceful lane, variety of visiting wildlife and yet easy access to the vibrant town of Bridport, 10 minutes away, is also a great feature. The cottage provides a peaceful haven from which to visit busier places nearby.
