Lovely Catskill Getaway

The home was very cozy and inviting! Lots of windows and skylights overlooking woodsy expanse of yard with adjacent pond. The home was well appointed and comfortable. The property is a short drive to incredible hiking, New Paltz and Woodstock. I would highly recommend… host was extremely helpful and responsive

Clean and spacious

The space was lovely. Bright, clean and spacious. Tracey lives next door but it felt totally private. She was available for anything we needed. Highly recommended.

Family Weekend Get-away

This was the perfect place to have a quick family get-away. There was plenty of room for everyone. Michel met us at check in and explained everything. Tracey stopped by later to make sure we were settled in so any issues (and there weren't any) would have been resolved quickly. The property is close to plenty of places to visit and hike. The outdoor fireplace was awesome and very relaxing. The only issue was the tv on the 2nd floor. For older people doing steps is not always the easiest but to enjoy the movie library and visit steps were a must. We would definitely consider this place again for another weekend reunion.

Very pleasant house in a lovely wooded area.

Our family of six spent a fall weekend in this well-appointed house that's not too far from hiking areas, good restaurants, a supermarket, and shopping in Kingston and Rhinebeck. The owner lives up the hill and she's extremely helpful and accommodating.

Felt like relatives in town for a visit

From long before the actual trip, Tracey communications were quick and informative. We were greeted upon our arrival, and Tracey and Michel were available at our beckoning. They take meticulous care of the house and property. The house was very conducive to my family of 6. The pond was great for swimming and fishing. We found lots of neat adventures in the surrounding towns. Highly recommend this for people looking to escape city life for a bit.

Lovely getaway in the woods

We had a wonderful stay over Father's Day weekend at Tracey's house. Everything was as beautiful as advertised and the furnishings and amenities are even nicer in person than in the photos. We were two families with four adults, four kids and 1 Shih Tzu visiting for two nights for a half marathon and one mile fun run in New Paltz. The house was the perfect size for all of us. The kids loved having a sleepover in the room with two twins and a full size and we used the master bedroom and also the queen upstairs for the adults. We had plenty of room for everyone and the soaring cathedral ceiling really adds to the spaciousness of the house. It was great for us to have the living room space for adults to relax and chat and the upstairs for the kids to play ping pong and watch a DVD. We all really appreciated the chance to explore the woods and the pond, which the kids loved visiting, even in the rain. Our boys were so excited to (catch and release) fish a little bit. We all used the beautiful patio to sit outside and have a great family grill out. The fireplace was perfect for the kids to make s'mores for dessert. Tracey and her husband were right nearby and so helpful when we needed a new propane tank for the grill. We also loved the location - out and away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to New Paltz and the grocery and drug store within a 10 minute drive. On Tracey's suggestion, we all had a wonderful and relaxing dinner at Westwind Orchard & Cidery, just a few minutes away. The food and cider were excellent. Being able to sit outside and enjoy both while the kids played basketball, cornhole, foosball, and kicked the soccer ball around was heavenly for them and the parents! We had an idyllic stay at this property and hope to return in the future!

My family had a great time at Tracey's house! The house itself is very comfortable, the property is gorgeous (including, especially the pond!) and the area is also great. Hope to return!

A Perfect Getaway

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful cabin during a weekend getaway from New York City this fall. Everything about the cabin was perfect, the calming environment surrounded by woods, the lovely outdoor tables and chairs, the backyard waterfall, not to mention every indoor amenity you could ask for, including a ping pong table! We walked around the pond, enjoyed the lovely changing colors of the leaves, and read and relaxed inside the cozy cabin. The owners couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. I can't wait to return for another weekend getaway!

A great halloween weekend!

My partner and I, with our cats spent the weekend of Halloween at this beautiful Hudson Valley house. We came to enjoy the fall nature, and our host recommended some amazing things for us to see. We enjoyed some corn mazes and hiking, and coming back to the house was just perfect. The barbecue, and kitchen were amazing allowing us to cook as we both love to do, and playing ping-pong was the best was to end a night. Also I have to mention that the wood-burning fireplace was the best for the season and made it the perfect romantic getaway. We both greatly recommend this rental to anyone who wants an escape with their family, or just a romantic getaway. All we can say is thank you to our host! We are looking forward to coming again when we have the time.

Good space and terrific pond - owners very helpful

The main living area is very nice, with high ceilings, bright floors and good furniture, and lots of windows. the dining area had a big dining table with good seating (for 8 I think). the loft TV room and ping-pong table was good. very private setting in the woods. The back patio with the gas grill and fireplace was rustic, but very comfortable for evening meals. the kitchen was modest, with a small refrigerator, tiny dishwasher and little counterspace. limited glassware (eg few wine glasses). no central AC, but window AC units in 3 bedrooms. the pond was great for playing with kids 10-15 yrs. old. our dogs were permitted on the property, but had to stay outside.

wonderful winter haven

my husband, dog and i stayed here for a month while we were renovating our house. given the stress that construction can create, we were so appreciative of the owners who did everything to make us comfortable. it was a snowy and cold winter and they made sure we were warm and cozy. the space inside is fantastic, with plenty room for more than our small family, but we took advantage of the space to do our respective work using wifi and the quiet, calm environment. we needed the respite from the dusty, noisy construction at our house. not to mention two great baths with hot showers! the mohonk views from the woods surrounding the house are amazing and we did snow-shoe right out the front door. everything that you need is on hand. we had an extended stay and loved that we were close enough to stone ridge to shop and eat out if we chose to, but still felt we were in a restorative haven when we took the three mile drive back to the cabin. we know the area well, and when we desperately needed a place to avoid the demolition fallout, we were lucky to find this cabin as our base. i don't know if tracey and michel usually rent in the deep winter, but it was a beautiful experience and we are glad it was available for us.

We loved our Hudson Valley vacation!

My family stayed here for a week this August (myself and spouse, our toddler, and my parents) and had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful, spotless, and very thoughtfully designed -- with one individual with disabilities, and a small child, in our group, it could not have been more perfect. Plenty of space, lots of room to play inside and out, and easily accessible to everyone. Plus the hosts provided wonderful amenities, including a grill and fire pit, baby gates and a baby pool, and good suggestions for nearby activities. Finally, the house is in a great location, peaceful and quiet but near enough to all of the wonderful towns, trails, etc. in the Valley. We can't wait to come back!

In Area for Sister's Wedding

Great location, great house, great time. We weren't sure what to expect because we'd never been to Accord/Stone Ridge area, and had only seen the pictures, but the house over-delivered on that first apprehensive moment when you open the door and say "OK, I hope it's nice.....". The house, the property, and the location were all much to our liking. I was with my wife, and 3 high-school age boys, and everyone really liked the layout. The kids especially liked the upstairs area with the TV and ping-pong. Tracey (the owner) and her husband were extremely helpful both before, during, and after our stay. If I were to offer any criticisms, it would be water pressure could be a little higher (but after all, it's a cabin) and the main room can be a little noisy (hardwood and tile, so nothing to absorb the sound), particularly when our middle son played the piano that's there (he's not very good). Highly recommend to anyone looking for a stay in the area. Jim

Peaceful and beautiful

This lovely house is just as charming as the photos on VRBO. It's loaded with natural light, and the main living area feels wonderfully spacious. It was clean and smelled fresh and nice inside. The owner provided a helpful list of local amenities, along with an area map. The property is wooded, with a very pretty, large pond - just like the pictures! My friend (who lives in Brooklyn) who stayed in the loft-like, spacious upstairs bedroom, said he woke up in the middle of the night wondering why there was a bright streetlight outside. He got up to look, and laughed out loud when he realized it was the MOON! What a wonderful surprise for a city boy. The stay was quiet, restful, and a true sanctuary. Highly recommended.

Lovely Lovely Place

Our first experience in this area and the house was perfect. Kept very clean and beautiful colors throughout. The owner was very helpful and reponded quickly to all my questions. Our daughters loved the pond and the swings. My favorite place was outside by the fire. I will definitely recommend this lovely house to family and friends.

Great place for our Thanksgiving

What a great place! We felt right at home - the place is spacious and well maintained, but does not have a "bed and breakfast" feel that we wanted to avoid. We cooked in the kitchen as well as on the grill outside. The place was kids friendly (not too much stuff they could break + WiFi allowed us to stream their favorite cartoons from Netflix in the mornings) The house is within reach of different hiking routes (we took two that were stroller friendly - both within 20 mins drive). I highly recommend the place - I hope that we will be able to get back there in summer! The lake looks very tempting...

Waiting to return

"Already, by the first of September, I had seen two or three small maples turned scarlet across the pond, beneath where the white stems of three aspens diverged, at the point of a promontory, next the water. Ah, many a tale their color told! Arid gradually from week to week the character of each tree came out, and it admired itself reflected in the smooth mirror of the lake. Each morning the manager of this gallery substituted some new picture, distinguished by more brilliant or harmonious coloring, for the old upon the walls." If ever Thoreau than this home above the pond springs golden memories to fill the heart with poetry and song. Could I return here often enough?

LIKE A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

What a treasure! We have stayed in this lovely house on Cherry Hill several times and each time it's better than the time before. Whenever we need a dose of fresh mountain air we head on over to Stone Ridge/Accord for a getaway. There's so much to do nearby (biking, hiking to waterfalls, visits to farmstands, cross country skiing, fun shops, delicious restaurants, historical sites and more) but sometimes we just take good books and cozy up for the week. We love to just lie outdoors in the sunshine or practice yoga by the babbling brook. I love the look of the house both indoors and out. There's finely crafted stonework, beautiful colors, and lovingly collected furnishings. We've even made some great meals in the outdoor fireplace!

About the host

Hosted by Tracey

Host profile image
I work in Public Health at CUNY Brooklyn College and have a Phd in sociomedical science. We live on the adjacent property and are available to help whenever needed but also respectful of privacy. I also have been involved in land conservation issues in Marbletown for over 20 years. I was one of the first short term rentals in our town about 16 years ago.

Why they chose this property

The house is well situated in a rural setting but with easy access to groceries and other towns offering cultural events- plays, performances, exhibitions. It is also close to nature reserves, the rail trail, the Shawangunk Ridge, Mohonk preserve and Catskill park. There are also two nearby farms serving farm to table food and dining that support local farmers and are also child friendly with games and such for kids.

What makes this property unique

The property has acreage and many paths with cherry trees and fruit trees (pear, apple, peach and sometimes plums). Access to neighbor's pond is a brief walk. The pond is 20 feet deep and swimmable. There is a canoe there. At the house there are is a ornamental pool, outdoor patios and a fire pit and grill. The house also has a piano. Can be tuned if interested.
