Villa Artemis is superbly located on the outskirts of the traditional village of Plaka, near Elounda and 5 minutes walk from the beach. In Plaka, there are regular boat trips to Spinalonga Island as well as local supermarkets and some excellent tavernas. From the villa it is a short walk of 750 metres, on the way to Plaka, to the beautiful stone beach of Plaka that provides for truly stunning clear waters for swimming. The town of Elounda is nearby, as is the major cosmopolitan town of Aghios Nikolaos with its many shops, tavernas and bars. The villa offers easy access to a myriad of traditional Cretan villages and beautiful countryside across the Lasithi region. There is a regular bus service from Plaka to Aghios Nikolaos.
Places of Interest
Villa Artemis is well located for a vast array of places of interest in Eastern Crete. Unspoilt Crete, around the Bay of Mirambello and to the South and East of the Island can be accessed via a good road network. Within easy reach is the Island of Spinalonga, Elounda, Aghios Nikolaos, the traditional Cretan village of Kritsa, the Byzantine church of Panagia Kera and the ancient Doric settlement of Lato. The many villages of the region can be explored by car, bike or on foot. Further afield, there are stunning drives to the Cretan world of wine, which is undergoing a successful renaissance, with many wine merchants producing excellent wines and offering wine tastings and guided tours of their estates.
