About this property

Country cottage near Trossachs lakes, hill walks & cycle routes. Dogs welcome.

This walkers' paradise is the perfect base from which to explore the spectacular Trossachs. Sleeps up to four in two ensuite bedrooms (one king or twin, and one standard double) on the first floor both with black-out blinds to make sure you get a great night's sleep. Rainfall showers and complimentary toiletries add a touch of luxury. On the ground floor, the full-size kitchen makes cooking a breeze while the open-plan dining and living area keep it social. Also on the ground floor, the fully-tiled wet room makes quick work of cleaning up after a muddy walk. There's a flat-screen TV, Blu-Ray DVD player and Bluetooth speaker for entertainment but if you prefer to make your own, a selection of books and games is provided too. There is free, unlimited Wi-Fi throughout.

Outside, a secluded seating area is the perfect spot for breakfast on a sunny morning or you can relax on the west-facing patio. There is off-road parking for up to two cars and an EV charger on site (billed separately according to use).

Surrounded by woodland and set between Lochs Achray and Venachar, the house adjoins a traditional cottage and is a peaceful and convenient base from which to explore the wider Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park and historic Stirling. Equipped to a high standard (rated 4-star by VisitScotland), this holiday cottage has everything you need for a comfortable break, whether it's a peaceful retreat from the stresses of everyday life, or an active break for walking, cycling or fishing.

For walkers and cyclists, woodland, loch-side and hill routes to suit all abilities start from the door. Secure bike storage is available on site. The Go Ape course at Aberfoyle is around 15 minutes away and very popular with our guests. For gentler activities, simply wander through the woods, take a cruise on Loch Katrine or soak up some history and culture with castles and museums in Doune and Stirling. Proximity to the main routes north and south means this is also a great base for day trips further afield, for example to the galleries and museums of Edinburgh and Glasgow, scenic Glencoe or Fort William and Ben Nevis.

There are plenty of eating-out options in the area but, for those who enjoy cooking, locally-grown fruit and veg is available from our neighbouring farm during the growing season while shops in Aberfoyle and Callander offer local venison, fresh meat and fish.

We live next door and are happy to help with problems or queries during your stay but we will always respect your privacy and leave you to enjoy your holiday in peace.

Dogs are welcome by arrangement but please note that the garden and woodland surrounding the property are not enclosed so that pets must be supervised when outside.

Beautiful cottage.

We had a lovely week in this cottage. Lots of walks from the doorstep and a close drive to nearby towns of Callander and Aberfoyle. The cottage was beautiful and well equipped for our stay. Can recommend Scott’s Bistro (5 min drive) for an evening meal.

Beautiful property and location

The property exceeded our expectations! It's in a beautiful location and has all the home comforts that you can think of. This was the best property we stayed in during our 5 week UK holiday. Hilary and Richard were very friendly and helpful. We'd love to stay again!

Beautiful spot in the woods

We had a great stay in this well furnished home. Books, dvd's, maps and brochures of the Trossachs area were available. Did several very nice walks in the vicinity. Can recommend the Byre Inn, 2 minutes walk away, for a nice pizza.

Idyllic Cottage in the Heart of the Trossachs

This property was everything the listing stated and more. Our hosts were very friendly, attentive and extremely helpful. This was one of the best vacation homes we have ever rented. The hosts had thought of everything. The kitchen was very well-equipped, the furnishing and décor throughout the house were of high quality, and the cottage was very warm and welcoming. A mudroom with shower is located just off the cottage entrance as well as the washer/dryer unit and large drying rack, The upstairs bedrooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms are modern. The cottage is situated well off the road in a beautiful woodland setting and its location was perfect for us to explore Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. We booked for three nights and, in retrospect, we wish we could have stayed there a week. This cottage is definitely one to consider if you want a great Scottish experience.

Fantastic property!

We stayed at this property during a recent visit to Scotland from the US. The property is located in a stunning area just outside Callander which is a pretty little town. The property is well appointed and had everything we needed especially being international travelers.. The hosts are lovely, they were very communicative and helpful. We would definitely stay in this property again if in the area. We highly recommend.

A home from home.

The cottage was comfortable, clean and quiet. Hilary the host welcomed us when we arrived and was available should we have any issues, but we had no need to trouble her. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed cooking there. There was a welcome package with goodies and essentials such as Smidge , which was essential and included a bag a treats for our dog . A very relaxing stay was had by all.

Wonderful stay

This is a superb stay, with the cottage being immaculately decorated with high end furnishings and finishes, and the bonus of the putting and croquet green, kids playhouse and short woodland stroll to the riverfront. The host is friendly and on hand, though also absolutely leaves you to your holiday without interruption. We loved strolling to the pub, the tearooms and there's loads to do with kids in the near area (eg the play trail at Glen Finglas, the play and waterfall trail in Aberfoyle, climbing Ben A'an, loch Katrine cruises, Blair Drummond safari park and much more) and this cottage is perfectly located to enjoy it. Thoroughly pleased we booked here, the whole family loved it.

Great family friendly cottage in a fantastic location

We were looking forward to our holiday as the cottage looked lovely on the photos, however once we arrived we knew straight away it was going to be the perfect week away. The cottage was beyond our expectations, it had everything we needed and the children loved it, especially the table tennis and croquet. The location couldn’t be faulted, there are so many lovely walks and bike rides just minutes away. We will definitely return.

Why they chose this property

I have lived here with my family for over 20 years and love it as much now as when we first came. The holiday cottage is a private annex to our historic cottage and I am always delighted when guests stay and love the environment as much as we do. The woodland setting is ever-changing with the weather and seasons, and the wildlife is, at times, quite literally on the doorstep. It is a peaceful and relaxing place, perfect as a base for walking, cycling or simply admiring the scenery yet it is also within easy reach of Scotland's major cities and transport links.
