About this property

Luxury cabin near Rocky Top Sports! Featuring a home theater, hot tub + views!

Because Rocky Top Lookout is only a mile from Rocky Top Sports World, it’s a great choice of lodgings if you’re in town for a sports tournament. Then again, it’s a great choice if you’re visiting the area for any reason. The four-bedroom log cabin is packed with amenities, offers awe-inspiring views of the Great Smoky Mountains, and is just a short drive to the local attractions.

Rocky Top Lookout was renovated from top to bottom in spring 2016, so just about every aspect of the cabin sparkles, glows, or gleams. The oversize windows of the open-plan living/dining/kitchen area let in plenty of sunshine to show off the burnished wood-planked floors, walls, and ceilings. They also enable you to relish the views of Mount LeConte and the old-growth woodlands even as you sprawl out on the living room sofa or sit down to eat at the dining table. A fireplace adds a golden glow and warmth to the space in winter; in summer the ceiling fan brings a welcome breeze.

The living area has a 55-inch flat-screen TV, but if you want to view the big game or a favorite movie, you might want to head downstairs to the home theater. The screen is huge—120-inch—with 7.1 surround sound and a web-enabled setup with cable channels and Blu-ray. Ten people can kick back in its theater-style seats. After watching a movie here, you may never want to go to your local cinema again!

Downstairs also has a game room with its own TV, plus bumper pool and a multi-game arcade. Should you work up a thirst while playing, you can grab a drink from the game room’s wet bar with mini fridge, rather than run upstairs to the kitchen.

Speaking of the kitchen, it’s as pristine as the rest of Rocky Top Lookout, from the stainless-steel appliances to the ample counter space. If you’re in the mood for barbecue, you can use the park-style charcoal grill right outside. You can dine outside too, at the picnic table on the main level’s covered deck. The sight of falcons soaring over the Smoky Mountains and the sound of the fresh breeze whispering through the towering trees will make even the simplest meal seem like a feast.

The decks have plenty of rocking chairs as well, so that you can listen to chickadees and larks greet the day and enjoy stargazing while tree frogs and crickets serenade at night. Ceiling fans make the deck a cool place to revel in the view even during a hot summer day.

All 4 of Rocky Top Lookout’s bedrooms are designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. The downstairs bedroom includes a king-size bed. One of the upstairs bedrooms features a queen-size bed, while the second upstairs room has queen-size bunk beds, so that four people can sleep there. Each room has its own flat-panel TV.

The primary suite, however, is especially luxurious. Located on the main floor, it includes a king-size bed and a 55-inch web-enabled flat-screen TV. Perhaps best of all, its spacious en-suite bathroom boasts a roomy jetted tub and a wall of windows so that you can bask in the view of the lush woodlands while you bathe.

Rocky Top Lookout’s other amenities include free Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, a full bathroom on each floor, and a sofa in the living area that opens into a queen-size bed, enabling the cabin to sleep 12 people in all. Its best amenity, though, might be its convenient location. As well as being just a mile from Rocky Top Sports World, the cabin is only a mile from the Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Loop, an 8-mile trail of more than 100 galleries, studios, and shops. Less than 15 minutes away is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; ditto downtown Gatlinburg, home to an aquarium, thrill rides, the Guinness World Records Museum, mini golf, restaurants, and more.

Rocky Top Lookout is a perfect home base for your best getaway yet. So book your stay today—before somebody else beats you to it!

Family Trip

We booked this place because my grandparents owned this cabin for 25 years and we’ve had a lot of memories made here. It is not as well taken care of as it used to be. However, it was great to make more memories in this place we knew so well. I think the living area could use another chair, along with some blankets. The trash bin outside is NOT bear proof. We saw a mom and her 2 cubs lift the top, pull out both trash cans and go through every bit of trash.. it could definitely use a lock of some sort! The surround sound doesn’t work, and maintenance couldn’t figure it out. But they were able to fix the fireplace for us so we could enjoy it. Other than that, the place had everything we needed and was a good fit for our family trip. Thanks for having us.

Great house

House was beautiful. Couldnt get the surround system to work in theater room. Would recommend taking trash cans out of outside disposal box and placing in basement when staying. Bear snapped the latch they had in first 2 nights. He was determined. WWould

We had a beary good trip!

Beautiful cabin that is clean and cozy. 10 of us stayed and it was perfect for each family to have their own level/bedroom. Would lobe to have more seating in living room so we could all sit comfortably together. But we made it work. Perfect spot just outside of town. Be sure to lock thebear bin, as w

Perfectly peaceful

This cabin is tucked into the side of the hill with a cute view. If there were neighbors we never noticed. Plus it's only a few minutes to downtown Gatlinburg! It's a great spot to stay when visiting this area.

On the fence

Overall the cabin is nice and we enjoyed our stay. But, 3 of the mattresses are double unless you like sleeping on a a rock hard mattress. The dishwasher is falling apart. The door on the microwave was about to fall off and you are supposed to bring your own dish soap, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, toilet paper and trash bags according to the info we got, which was ridiculous. But there was enough where we got there so we wasted cargo space bringing our own. Lastly, the fees associated with VRBOs is crazy. When we went to book the per night was listed around $xxx per night. But after all the fees it came to $xxx (x2) a night. (I’m not allowed to put the price in apparently but it was over double the price shown) Not even close to the click bait price. I’m about done with them. Hotels are cheaper.

Nice but could be better

Beautiful view but there are a few of maintenance items that could make the property much nicer. The dishwasher needs a wheel on the top rack so that it works properly. The property around the building needs to be cleaned up trash possibly a local bear or whatever but still. The downstairs bedroom could use some way to to store at least a few clothes in the bedroom you know even some hooks would help.

Perfect

The property was a perfect size for our family. Our grand daughters were up stairs in the bunk beds and my son and his wife were upstairs next to them. We had the master and my daughter had the bottom floor. We loved the hot tub and movie room. The dining area was so bathed with natural light and a breathtaking view. We did so many activities, from Dollywood, to caverns, to seeing the falls. Perfect family vaca.

Great location

So the negatives….absolutely no frying pans in the house, no scissors, no hot pads, the charcoal grill is a joke but we still used it. And we had to call and get the sound fixed in the theater. It was missing a cable. Pros….clean, great location, had an amazing time.

Beautiful house and great location

This was a beautiful house and a great location to Gatlinburg downtown, Pigeon Forge and hiking. The family had a blast and loved the house. A few minor issues... 1) It looked as if the sheets weren't changed on the beds due to the amount of different types of hair on them. However, we did contact the property manager and they provided new clean sheets. They didn't make the beds or anything but dropped off new sheets. 2) The home theater did not come with any directions on how to use it. We were left a little disappointed one night we planned on watching a movie. 3) The hot tub was nice but it should probably be drained and cleaned after each use. One of our guests developed a really bad case of hot tub rash that turned out to be pretty severe and painful. Just required a doctor's visit, antibiotics and a topical cream. Other than these three issues, the house was as described and otherwise lovely. The kids really enjoyed the arcade and as I mentioned before it was a great location and close to everything you needed to be close to.

Upgrade with a pool

We did not stay at the Rocky top listing we had booked. Your management company called us as we were driving there to check in and said it was no longer available- some kind of issues that made it unlivable. I have to say that I was really upset because I had booked very early and this trip was our Christmas gift to our whole family- BUT, you quickly found an even nicer place- closer to town and it was spectacular! Everyone loved it and the kids loved it so much they just wanted to stay there- hot tub, indoor pool, pool table, game room, theatre! It was called The Mountain View Pool Lodge and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Relaxing Cabin Getaway

Overall the cabin was very nice and accurately matched the online photos. We only experienced a couple of minor issues with the amenities. The view from the cabin was a little disappointing and could be improved with the removal of a couple of trees that have grown. The property would also be improved with the trimming of a couple of shrubs out front.

Our first time to Gatlinburg

As Floridian's, my children asked to go see snow as their Christmas gift. So we started searching and found this property. It was a great location to how close we were to Gatlinburg but enough away from the city to feel like you were tucked away with privacy. Unfortunately, we just got flurries the first day and last day but that didn't stop us from enjoying the property. We didn't use the hot tub but we all took times enjoying the jacuzzi tub. This momma definitely took time to relax in the tub and take in the view with all the windows. The jets didn't work for long but thats ok, not sure if this is a process the cleaning crew does, but it probably needed some run time with bleach. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were great sizes. The shower in the master was slow to drain. I have thick hair so washing and conditioning it almost caused a over flow out of the shower. We spent a lot of time on the main floor with cooking and eating meals and would have loved to unwind on a comfortable couch before bedtime but the couch was not that. It was like the springs were broken bc it was like you sunk to the floor. So we spent most of the time sitting at the dinning room table, which is a great size, or laying in the master bed watching tv. It was a beautiful place, beautiful location. We had a wonderful time.

Family Vacay

This property had a lot of pros & cons so let me break it down for you- Cons: no grill. (Unless they mean the rusted out piece of metal by the front deck but it was in no shape to grill). Not enough silverware so we had to purchase plastic. No hot pads, not enough toilet paper or laundry detergent. So if you’re ok with coming with some of these. Great. Otherwise be prepared. Another con would be the view- luckily at this time of year the leaves had fallen off the trees so we could see through the brush. Couple other cons- only one rack in the oven, and the “bear lock” on the trash can was a joke if a bear actually wanted our trash. Pros- location for sure! It was close enough to pigeon forge & downtown gatlinburg, but a little bit of a drive to feel secluded. Space- there was plenty of space for us to gather in the house but also have our own area- I will say though, this cabin echoes, A LOT. So when some of us wanted to stay up late or wake up early we tended to disrupt the opposite crowd since you could hear every little thing. Overall, we all agreed we’d stay here again and we’d recommend it because it was a good price for the amenities available and location. But management should really address some of the cons listed because previous reviews also repeated some of our own.

Needs a complete overhaul

Pull out couch was just a thin cotton over springs! Maintenance man said he could not even sleep on it and was going to order a new mattress. Too late for us so got a blow up mattress for two guests. Light in theater had a warning it would go out. Quit working after a few minutes. 4 th bedroom had no closet and no dresser and my 6 ft 8 son could barely maneuver around bed. Two guests had to climb on the rail to get into upper bunk so had to have maintenance turn the ladder from the wall in order to get in. Jacuzzis in the master bath did not work and the maintenance man had to order a new part too late for us. The microwave door was loose and caused problems. No fire in fireplace for first few days and was told we could not have one till Oct. Maintenance man got it started. Dust and spider webs on much if it. Windows look like they were rarely if ever washed. The view was not a Mountain View that was advertised and was told the trees grew! So why did you put a picture online that was a lie. A bear woke us up after demolishing the garbage at 2 in morning and again at 6. We had never cooked a meal and have had few snacks to entice it so guess this is regular behavior. The master bedroom mattress was adequate but the others were reported as not comfortable. For the amount that was charged for this cabin most motel rooms were better. Seating for 12 inside or out is non existent. It appears this cabin was only built to rent and then never was maintained properly. My wife was a manager at the Stouffer Hotel in Nashville and could not believe the shape this cabin was in. I only give it 2 stars because it looks like a nice cabin. Looks can be deceiving. Spent a full day getting things fixed and bought to make it workable. Very very disappointed and will definitely not recommend your cabins. I have been going to Gatlingburg for many years and even on my honeymoon and never ever was disappointed until now!!!

Not quite as advertised

The house overall wasnt too bad and it was very clean but I will echo some of the other reviews in that their are many details that have not been taken care of as follows: 1. The ceiling fan blades in the master BR are very loose and it nearly flew apart as soon as we turned it on. 2. The jets in the master Bathroom tub don't work. 3. Thier is no view as advertised. This was especially annoying since all that was needed was a tiny bit of tree trimming and the view would be great. They don't seem to care. 4. The theater room setup is very bad. The screen is out of alignment and the surround sound barely works. 5. There is nowhere near enough seating in the living room. Basically 3 people can sit somewhat comfortably. 6. The beds are hard and uncomfortable. Nice bed frames but crappy mattresses. Beyond these annoying and easily fixable items the house wasn't bad. The location is excellent. It was very clean. Overall you can probably do better for the same money.

Great House!

Everything was clean and well kept on the inside of the property! The movie room was a little hard to navigate with the speakers, but that’s okay. The game room was perfect for Catan every night! The hot tub was wonderful!!! The landscape needs trimmed and cut back. EVERYTHING was overgrown!! The men in my family are builders and they were very uphappy about the stairs not being safe per safety requirement (going upstairs the sizing was different for the different steps some more than 2” different than the first step which can cause falls) but overall great & we enjoyed our time!
