Sorry, no hen or stag parties. Couples and family bookings only. Private water supply from a spring. The sea is twenty metres away and is fantastic for SUP’s, Snorkelling, Scuba Try-A-Dives, Scuba Diving, Walks, Rambles, bird and wildlife watching, photography. There are sea angling opportunities within 200 metres. Directions, bookings etc., can be provided in the shop or to guarantee you may wish to prior book.
A local ferry leaves every hour only 300 metres from this location and for very little money takes you to the delightful island of Kerrera. A café, castle and great walks are minutes away. An Iron age fort and drovers path walk option can lead you from the accommodation to Oban.
The accommodation is situated near to the diving centre and guests are asked to respect the working environment and safety aspects by NOT accessing signed areas for the exclusive training taking place.
A slipway is available on request for free however guests should always check with staff in the shop before use. Care should be taken on all access to the sea as conditions can be variable and unsafe for children not accompanied by an adult. Puffin has storage lockups available for hire for bikes etc., Dogs should always be on a lead when on the Puffin site and plenty of dog walking paths and walks are in every direction. The preference is that dogs are walked locally but not in the car park or diver working areas.
No fishing from the Puffin site (or crabbing) as the divers get irritated by hooks that get snagged and we have some tame octopi, lobster and so on. Occasional seals often put in an appearance as well. (we can give you other locations to fish)Please respect the balance of wildlife in the area. Over the years we have built good relationships with the deer often visible in the early mornings from the accommodation, The otter family, usually seen at dawn or dusk swimming in the bay, Duck families, when breeding, Puffins two working cats, Boris, the hooded crow, and many birds and wildlife. The trust these creatures have allowing our guests to see them can easily be lost by careless dog control or disrespectful behaviour to their habitats. Visitors coming to the countryside are very welcome and respectfully asked to enjoy our location and leave it for others to see as well.
A ferry from Oban (CalMac) takes car and foot passengers to Mull making a great day out (book early) seeing Iona, Staffa and Tobermory. Bike hire, great eating and sea front walks are a great way to pass an evening with loads of pavement eating etc.,
Puffin recommendation: The Oban Chocolate Shop – Do not miss this ridiculously superb experience.
Oban Whisky Tour, Islands of Luing (short trip and 5-minute ferry, Easdale village, Boat tours, Seafari and the Corryvreckan whirlpools all contribute to make this a stay you will not forget. Options To Consider:
Tigh-an–Truish family pub (near the Bridge over the Atlantic viewpoint)
The Barn Bar outdoor eating
The Old Inn for great steaks
The North Pier Eeusk Fish Restaurant (good steaks) and the Piazza
