Why they chose this property
South Landing beach lies in front of the Manor House within an area which has been designated as a Local Nature Reserve. The pebble beach here is backed by grassy, chalk cliffs, which provide beachgoers with some degree of shelter from the sea breezes. At low tide, a number of rockpools, teeming with crabs, small fish and other wildlife can be found in and around the chalk-reef.
South Landing is also a good place for bird watching. In the summer guillemots, gannets, sand martins and fulmars can all be found here. In the winter there is a chance of spotting eider ducks.
There are a number of walking trails in the area, including some cliff-top walks with good views over Bridlington Bay.
The traditional seaside resorts of Bridlington, 5 miles, Filey, 11 miles and Scarborough, 18 miles are easily accessible. Nearby Sewerby Hall has fine Georgian, Regency and Victorian rooms, a magnificent 19th century conservatory, beautiful gardens and houses the Museum of East Yorkshire.
From the Manor House there is a steep descent, down 75 steps, past RNLI Flamborough Lifeboat Station and down to the beach. The nearby Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Living Seas Centre is worth a visit to learn more about more about the ocean and the creatures that live there.
