4/10 Poor

Great location but overall shabby.

With the right management and effort this place could be amazing but…… Bathrooms adequate, nice towels. Floors throughout were dirty and didn’t look like they’d been cleaned for many weeks, covered in hair and dust. Looked for a hoover but wasn’t one so swept up. Single beds in both rooms were very hard. A nasty smell in dining area. Kitchen utensils were lacking and the items available were rusted and in poor condition. Sofa smelt of dogs. Didn’t use log burner starter pack, charged £25, but Cornwall Hideaways refused any reimbursement…final straw. Would not recommend or return.

Great place to stay

This location was great for us as we had family staying in the campsite nearby. So close to the beach and a brilliant view in all weather. The house was clean, well kept, had great facilities and the decor was both stylish and cosy. My only feedback would be one the practicality of the place - as there were two couples with lots of luggage (we were surfing, hiking and doing other activities) there was very little storage space which resulted in us having to keep suitcases on the bed during the day and in the hallway at night. Even with limited luggage and no kids, I believe it’d be tight. We also found that there wasn’t enough space to hang our towels (hand towels and shower towels) which could’ve been easily remedied by putting a couple of hooks on the bedroom and bathroom doors. For the price paid, it would also have been nice to find a hoover and extra cleaning materials (those provided were very limited). With sand from the beach and general dust, it was in need of a clean by day 3/4 of our weeks stay. That being said, we’ll definitely be booking again for sure - one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in Cornwall and very convenient!

Should have been cleaned properly

This is our 4th year staying at the complex of Mor Cliff but the first time in the Deck House. Our main criticism was the poor cleaning on arrival. Beds were filthy underneath, needed sweeping. Everything looked like it had a “once over” not a thorough Covid clean.

Summer break

Beautiful location, peaceful with stunning beaches within walking distance and about 1mile walk to the village for pubs, bakery, shops etc. Plenty of coastal walks to explore from this location. Well maintained lodge with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Would love to return.

Beautiful views

We really enjoyed our stay at The Deck House. It is in a great location for views and easy access to the Coast Path. It is about a mile away from St Agnes village centre which we walked in a few evenings. The cottage has open views of the valley opposite and a side view of the sea from indoors or on the deck. The facilities are good and bathrooms and kitchen well appointed. There is only 1 parking space which could be a problem for 2 couples. We would love to return but probably won't because we can't bring our dogs. St Agnes is a great place to visit and we also visited Moushole, Newquay, Trelissick and Padstow from there. All in all we had a lovely holiday.

The Deck House St Agnes

The Deck house is a lovely place with beautiful views, it was clean and tidy. As it was very cold weather it would have been nice to have had some instructions on heating usage. We also left a phone charger there. We have phoned three times over six days and apart from them being polite nothing has been done, no urgency on their part!! The house keepers job surely is to deal immediately with these things. We can only assume it has been thrown away. We would stay there again, in good weather it would be fantastic.

A lovely stay

Overall we had a lovely stay at the deck house. The views are incredible and the log burner in the evenings was fab. Super comfy sofa and outdoor furniture is great. We had a few issues with hot water but generally rectified quickly by the agent. Standard of the beds(two singles in each room) and bedding did not meet the high standard of the rest of the property which was disappointing. I was also surprised there were not better basics left at the property like wood for your first few fires (apparently had to request and pay for in advance but I never received an email about this) and there is a washing machine but no tablets. They provide a thimble of washing up liquid and 3 dishwasher tablets. In a basic rental I think that’s reasonable but the rest of the property is so lovely, it’s a shame lots of little things like this didn’t also meet that high standard. Only meaning to provide this to assist the company/owner because otherwise we had a fantastic stay and I would certainly recommended it.
