About this property

A dream seaside escape perfect for taking in the beauty of the Cornish coastline

Built in 1810, this classical coastal hideaway is a magical getaway for up to six guests. The highlight of the Watch House is, of course, the magnificent views of the ocean, which can be admired from any room. It has one of the best headland views in the South West, and the large windows throughout the property mean you can really make the most of this unique location throughout your stay.

The house itself has certainly been designed with its coastal location in mind. The sitting room is positioned on the first floor, to really make the most of those spectacular views. Meanwhile, the clapper board walls, Cornish stone exteriors and all manner of unique trinkets and decorations mean you can enjoy the coastal feel throughout the house.

With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, there's plenty of room for everyone inside the Watch House. Meanwhile, the exposed stone, wooden doors and beautiful oak floors give the house a charming, traditional feel, as does the cosy wood burning stove in the sitting room. The small but attractive kitchen has everything you need to treat everyone to a delicious meal… or why not step outside to stoke up the barbecue and make the most of the private gardens?

If you venture out, you'll find the sandy beach (complete with rock pools) just a two-minute stroll away. The beautiful traditional village of Coverack is also within easy reach, with its many cafes, bistros and ice cream shop.

Additional Information:
Up to three well behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge).
Cot and highchair available on request.
A complimentary starter pack will be awaiting for you on your arrival containing fresh coffee, tea, sugar, fresh milk and scones.

Amazing place to stay, but needs some updating.

Beautiful surroundings, excellent views. However the kitchen is not equipped to cook for up to 8 people. We also noticed that the beds in the downstairs bedroom had unstable legs and had to be put straight every time.

Most Beautiful Location

The Watch House has got to be one of the most perfect and beautiful locations for a holiday cottage in all of Cornwall. We woke up everyday to the sound of the waves, just utter peace and tranquillity. There’s something truly magical about it.

Looking forward to staying in this beautiful house only to find it is not in as photo's suggests

Very much looking forward to staying here but on arrival lots of problems. Grass overgrown, outside lights rusty and broken, inside broken handles and drawer in bathroom. Cottage not cleaned that well dirty kitchen bin and lots of plates/bowls had to be washed again. Very dissapointed in this property although the only big bonus was the views and where it was situated.

Wonderful location and house but some attention to detail needed

The Watch House is in a fantastic location at the edge of a beautiful village and we enjoyed our stay very much. There were a few details which let the place down, which was a shame. On arrival the gate was broken and could not be closed without coming off it’s hinges, which, had we had a small child or wandering dog, would have been difficult. There were a few chipped items of crockery, the dusting could have been more thorough, for instance the cupboards in the downstairs bedroom had dusty shelves I had to wipe before putting my clothes on them. There was a nasty mark in the corner of a shower which could do with a repair. My biggest complaint is the downstairs beds where it was not possible to fold a sheet under the mattress leaving the mattress itself exposed which I didn’t like. These beds were also old and. creaky. Generally the house contents are a bit dated and cheap which I felt was not reflected in the high price for the house and let the lovely place down a bit.

A lovely home from home that's getting a bit tired and neglected

We've stayed at this property many times over the years. From a distance it certainly has the wow factor, but as the years roll on the property is starting to fall into disrepair which is incredibly sad. Whilst the views are fabulous and the village is a hidden gem, The Watch House is starting to lose it's sparkle. On this particular visit the lower garden was waist high in weeds and unusable. Most of the furniture has seen better days so you will struggle to find a comfy seat that isn't stained, wobbles on uneven legs or is uncomfortable. The toilet seats are all loose which is a very quick and basic maintenance task to fix. The recycling hadn't been removed that had been left by the previous rentals and there was rather a lot of it stacked up by the bins. I dont expect all the windows to be cleaned on every changeover, but there were lots of grubby child-size hand prints on a number of windows. If my recent stay had been my first stay, I would have been very disappointed. However, we knew what we were going to get. On a plus, the view you wake up to from the master bedroom is a delight, and once you have unpacked and had a gin or two on the patio, you can ignore the negatives and enjoy your holiday. Its just a shame that the Watch House is starting to look and feel a little neglected.

6/10 Okay

Our stay at the Watch House

The Watch House is in a stunning location and the house is very characterful. However, our stay could have been much improved if the owners or management company attended to several basic issues. Firstly the fridge and freezer in the shed - which we needed to use owing to the small size of the fridge in the kitchen - were extremely dirty. They apparently hadn’t been cleaned for months. A lot of the crockery in the kitchen is chipped, the table mats old and stained. Given how cheaply these things could be replaced at IKEA, say, or a supermarket, it’s hard to see why this hadn’t happened. A number of light bulbs weren’t working and needed replacing. One of the drawers in the kitchen would only open a few inches; another one won’t open properly due to the position of the fridge. Wardrobe space is taken up with bags of linen for future use. The garden (whilst we of course understand is meant to be a natural area) is nevertheless overgrown and full of weeds. We had a lovely holiday with our family but it has to be said that the Watch House is in need of some basic maintenance

A great place to stay

We had a fantastic stay at the Watch House - it’s in an amazing position over looking the sea and in the master bedroom, looking out of the windows, you feel that you are at sea! The house is very comfortable and well equipped and Coverack is a lovely place to stay with gorgeous walks, a pub, cafe, shops and beach- a great place for a holiday .... whatever the weather!
