Why they chose this property
Why Darren and Ellie Dring chose Le Bernard
We chose this area of France, after travelling here and staying at the Barn next door, which belongs to my sister Allison and her husband Stephen (Wilden), for over 10 years. We always left feeling sad to say goodbye, and excited for our next visit. When the opportunity to buy our barn arose, we did not hesitate. This is such a wonderful part of France, and every visit there is something and somewhere new to discover. We love the weather and visiting the wide choice of beaches, is one our favourite activities as a family. It’s wonderful to have the freedom to get up and start a new adventure every day, whether it’s to the L’Ogliss Water park (10 minute walk away), the fun and adventure at the Fun O'Park along the road, or leisurely exploring the villages and towns nearby. We love the relaxing tranquillity of the countryside, on our doorstep, which includes the sweetcorn fields and two large freshwater ponds. All of this, with the busy seaside town of La Tranche sur Mer, and our favourite beach, Les Conches, only a 10-15 minute drive away.

What makes this property unique
What makes this Barn unique?
The barn was built with ancient stone from the old Monasteries of Moutiers, and retains a number of the original features of the old cattle barn. The walls are nearly two foot thick, which the barn keeps mostly cool in the summer. Inside the living space is large and airy, with both modern and traditional/vintage interior decoration, which also makes the barn feel very homely.
We love waking up to a new day, having breakfast outside in the sunshine on the large decking in the back garden, to plan what fun we will be having. In the evenings, we have BBQs and eat outside at the front of the barn,; watching the setting sun, and staying out for a bit of stargazing up at the beautiful night sky. What could be more perfect?
