The barn has been renovated to a very high standard and was spotlessly clean. It had absolutely everything we needed and the hot tub was fantastic! Alison provided the best communication both before and during our stay and she was very helpful. We could not fault the barn and we would definitely like to return one day.
The barn was clean and spacious with everything you need to relax with family or a group of friends. There was plenty of space in the garden for children to run around in the fresh air and it is well-located to go towards either stretch of Devonshire coastline and Exeter too.
Allison was a very attentive host and would respond very quickly to any messages we sent.
Fantastic modern barn conversion that is a great place for a family holiday. Everything you need and more. Amazing hosts too. Lovely welcome basket on arrival. Definitely recommend.
The pictures doesn’t do this place justice! This place was incredible and so spacious. The perfect place to celebrate my birthday with friends. The hosts added personalised touches, which just made the place even more special. Couldn’t fault this place. Honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough!
I've stayed in a lot of properties and this one was just perfect. A family Christmas that we will never forget. Alison was so helpful before we arrived responding to our multiple requests and questions. The Barn was beautifully decorated for Christmas and just a joy to be in all together. From the luxury bedding, comfy sofas and well stocked kitchen, I cannot fault a thing. It was immaculate and we will definitely return in the summer so we can enjoy the beautiful location even more. Thank you Alison!
I stayed at Walnut Barn for a long weekend along with 5 old school friends to celebrate our big birthday year! We had a fantastic chilled stay. The barn is beautiful with great views over the countryside and a quiet away from it all location. Lovely garden with plenty of seating areas and the hot tub was well used!
There was plenty of room in the barn, great to have 4 bedrooms, all en-suite, snd a lovely large open plan kitchen/diner. The barn is very well equipped, with all you needed for your stay. Lovely personal touches too and Alison was a communicative host! Would happily recommend this property. Excellent place for a large family/friends get together.
What an amazing barn conversion. The open plan design made it feel spacious and airy yet comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were instructions for the combination microwave, oven and hob in the information folder, which was useful. It was fantastic that all bedrooms were en-suite and the same size. This made room allocation a lot easier.
The peacefulness of the country side created a relaxed atmosphere and the view of the field and trees from the garden added to the tranquility. We did not feel isolated by the location as Crediton was a short drive away.
It was great to be given the choice of having double or twin beds by Alison and there were some lovely touches in the form of biscuits, teabags and coffee to welcome us.
I would certainly recommend anyone to stay in this property and we would certainly stay there again.
Walnut Tree Barn is everything you could wish for in a holiday stay. Everything has been thought of and the location is sublime. Alison was wonderful to communicate with before and during our stay and we would love to come back.
Walnut tree barn was a fantastic home away from home. Well equipped and sparkly clean, the pictures do not do it justice. We ranged in age from 74 to 16 and all enjoyed our stay. We made use of the hot tub and the games we found the in cupboard and had a very relaxing time. Communication from Alison was great, lots of information before hand and a great folder containing what we needed to know at the property. We hope to be back one day!
We had a really great time exploring the local area from this barn. The barn was perfect for us with comfy big beds and en-suites. The family kitchen and eating area was perfect to all hang out together and we enjoyed winding down each night in the cosy lounge.
Recommend the Agatha Christie National Trust (via greenway ferry and park and ride from Dartmouth) and Castle Drogo. Also went on a steam train, went to the beach, played in the garden and enjoyed exploring the local area and river walk.
Al excellent hostess nothing was any trouble we had a party planned but due to Covid only 4 adults and a baby came
Even If we had all been there this barn was big enough for us all
Beautiful views and walks by the river lovely accommodation with en suite facilities in all rooms
Felt like a home from home
Thank you for everything Alison
Carole Phillips and family we will definitely be back xx
Perfect get away for us girls and our two dogs! Amazing walks, loved that the garden was enclosed so we didn’t have to worry about the dogs and loved the access to the field directly behind the barn. Barn was huge with everything you needed
Thank you for a lovely stay
Great spot in rural Devon. We had a very relaxing time enjoying the large open plan kitchen and living spaces, as well as the outdoor table, sun chairs and hot tub.
Everything was very clean and communication with host was clear and helpful. Beautiful walks around the area; and otherwise plenty peace and quiet to enjoy.
Highly recommend and we look forward to staying again!
Amazing place, lovely big hot tub and big space to cook and relax. Netflix in each bedroom and living areas, lovely log fire, Bluetooth speakers and different lighting and underfloor heating settings. Alison left us a bottle of bubbly which was a lovely touch and was very easy to get hold of and attentive. She even brought us out some replacement fairy lights from her home straight away when some weren't working.
Very cute dog too!
Excellent facilities, beautiful location & very accommodating host.
Modern & homely barn in a beautiful countryside setting. The barn is spacious but very easy to use. The hot tub was the icing on the cake! The whole party really enjoyed their stay. It was a special weekend and I have no hesitation recommending this barn. Alison communicated very well in particularly difficult times - faultless!
We arrived at the property with a warm welcome from Alison, it was just like the photos! Absolutely stunning.
Alison was very quick at responding when you have any queries! overall a brilliant stay, would stay again & 100% recommend!

About the host
Hosted by Alison
Alison and Ian live in the adjacent property along with their family, Rhani the cockapoo and Cleo the cat.
Why they chose this property
Alison grew up on the family dairy farm and after sometime living elsewhere, Alison and Ian decided to come back and develop the old sheep barn and mill into a family home. Then they decided to develop the old cow shed into a light and spacious four bedroom holiday home.
What makes this property unique
From the outside, Walnut Tree Barn looks quite modest and fits in with the surrounding perfectly. However, once you walk inside, it has a feeling of space and calm, due to its lofty ceilings and tasteful decor. The garden is yet private, but allows views of the beautiful oak tree meadow, with the River Yeo running through.
