About the host

Hosted by Sue Booth

Host profile image
We are Sue & Jeremy and we live near Oxford, England. We enjoy travelling and being outdoors, especially walking in the mountains with our dog. We have 3 grown up children who also enjoy spending time in France - skiing, mountain biking, and hiking the mountain peaks.

Why they chose this property

We wanted to be able to ski in winter, but not to be in a big resort. Just as important were the activities on offer for the rest of the year, the proximity to lakes for swimming and fishing opportunities as well as fantastic mountain walking and spectacular views. Aillon le Jeune is a small traditional farming village which just happens to have great skiing too. We like that there are many people who live here all year as well as others, mainly French, who have holiday homes here too.

What makes this property unique

Wonderful walks from the door, traditional farm shop in the village selling, amongst other produce, local Tome de Bauges cheese made from the pretty brown cows which graze the surrounding meadows clanging their bells as they move. Family friendly skiing, very reasonable lift pass rates. Plenty of summer activities, an active and helpful tourist office. A hidden gem in the French Alps, yet close to Annecy, Aix les Bains and Chambery.
