cozy, yet comfortable, tite bedroom area for the 2 of us, but we made the most of it.
weather was very warm thank goodness that there were enough fans to keep us cool at night.
Ideal location for fishing both north & south points.
Dock area was perfect for boat and sitting at night the ducks & chipmunk's keeping us amused, would consider staying again.
Cozy little cottage on cranberry lake. Very quiet and relaxing. We pretty much had the lake to ourselves. Had a great time. It is our second time there
Can't beat the views at this cabin! This is our second time staying and we enjoyed our stay just as much as the first. Don communicates great and is available if questions arise. Wish we could have stayed longer but hopefully we can visit another year.
We had a wonderful stay at the Gatehouse cabin. It’s a quiet, peaceful place and neighborhood to enjoy nature, the stars, a lakeside bonfire, and unwind on the lake(fishing was bass tasting!), hiking (we climbed Mt. Arab and Bear Mountain), and sitting on the dock/in the sunroom taking in the views. We checked out the general store, the thirsty moose, black waters cafe, and raquette river brewing. The cabin had everything we needed and was very cozy.

What a beautiful piece of property on a beautiful lake. The rustic cottage provides all you need to enjoy a lakeside vacation. The dock space, small beach and fire pit make the place even better as well as the screened in porch! We'll be back had a great time!
Could not gain entry, deadbolt did not work.We did get keylock box, that didn't work either. After a 4 hour drive there and sitting around for 3 hours, went back home. Owner needs to have more information with him. Not a good experience!
Great little rustic cabin on Cranberry Lake. Very quiet location several miles down a side road off Route 3, with excellent views of the lake. The water is just a few steps out the back door! Cranberry Lake is a very large lake with numerous bays and inlets to explore and fish, and route 3 offers easy access to many day trips in the northern Adirondacks.
I loved everything about this place . It’s right on the water and very private . I spent my time fishing and listening to the sounds of the lake in the screened in porch. I was able to unwind and forget about the chaos of work life for a few days. I hope to return one day.
Cozy, rustic cabin with a dock on the lake. It was very quiet and peaceful. Great screened-in porch to have your coffee and breakfast in while looking out at the lake or listening to the loons. 3 of us slept comfortably in the upstairs loft and there was a curtain to separate the space in half. It's not a large cabin, but there were enough chairs and between the dock, the porch and the cabin we were even able to accommodate 7 or 8 visitors. Water was warm and great for swimming. Bring whatever food and supplies you will need, because it's a long drive to a supermarket or store. Kitchen was stocked with dishes, silverware, pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker and grinder. No problem with mice, but we never left food out. Very memorable stay!
Had a great stay in October. Cabin stayed warm and cozy for us Floridians which was a major concern. View was great and the front porch was where we ate all our meals looking out at the lake. Exactly what I wanted. The cabin's aesthetic is very cranberry lake nostalgia from my childhood visits to the area. Owner is transparent about things to watch out for or what to bring with you and is very responsive. Would definitely stay there again and for us it's perfect size for just two people as we are large persons. Bathroom was larger than expected which was a huge relief as we have been in some tight spots before with vrbo. Kitchen was stocked well with most anything you'd need.
Perfect location, loved the proximity to the lake! Great back porch and a nice breeze on this point of land. We love Cranberry Lake and have stayed at numerous properties, this quickly became one of our favorites! Be sure to bring locking tubs for your food, there are 4 legged critters.... Would definitely rent again!
This place is in a perfect spot on the lake. Beautiful views and a private setting. Quiet and so relaxing. Host very eager to help in any way. Will definitely come back.
My husband and I both had a wonderful time here at the Cranberry Lake House. The house is comfy and quiet. Central to hiking, fishing,, swimming or just relaxing on the dock.. While sitting on the dock we had a front row seat for our own personal sun rise. Fantastic!!!
We rented this little cabin for a long weekend with mediocre expectations, but were thoroughly pleased with the gatehouse. This little place is a gem of the adirondacks. It’s very easy to find, the nearby boat launch is easy to use, and the sturdy little dock even has the address on it. Everything is clearly labeled inside and out, so there is no confusion. The upstairs loft has recently been doubled in size, and real stairs have been installed. The screened in porch at the waters edge is a slice of heaven, took quite a few naps out there. Overall, for up to 4 people, I highly recommend this cabin.

The location and view is wonderful
I love the outdoors, camping, kayaking and fishing. I even own a hunting camp in the woods. I’m use to roughing it , using outhouses, campers, tents etc. The Gatehouse has a perfect location and offers everything a person basically needs to stay, cook and bathe. The reason for only two stars unfortunately is due to the mice and spiders and overall less than clean feeling everywhere inside the camp. We left a night early because I just couldn’t face another sleepless night due to the rodent traffic, digging, climbing and chewing so I decided the 5 1/2 hour drive home was a better option. I found mouse poison bait blocks and set them out and watched as the mice literally carried them away off of the kitchen counter, stove, table etc. the toaster was full of mouse poop also and the coffee pot didn’t look like it has ever been cleaned. I started scrubbing it then realized it’s not my job to do that. I killed several spiders throughout the place. My skin just crawled from it. I live in the country and I get an occasional mouse and spiders here and there too but this was excessive in my opinion. Loved the location and the dock but the rest... not so much. This was my son and my first trip to the Adirondacks so it was a little disappointing cutting it short but I needed some sleep.

Nice, cozy cottage
While small, it is a nice place, with nice screen porch about ten feet from the water and a nice dock. Nice little sand beach that was perfect for launching our kayeaks.

Great little camp
We enjoyed our stay at the gatehouse. It is a true adirondack style camp. Not fancy but with all the comforts of home.
The loft stairs are a little scary, but the owner has plans to replace them. When the new stairs are there, I will give it a 5 star rating. The best part is being able to sit on that screened in porch and watch the lake and listen to the loons. Its got a good dock for swimming and place to park all kinds of boats. Cranberry lake is a very special place.

Location, Location, Location
This place really was in a prime location, and the little bitty beach it had was wonderful for kayaks and getting in and out of the water in general.
I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. The location was 4 stars for sure, but the inside probably a 3.
Waterfront porch was excellent, and so close to the water it was just wonderful! The dock was very nice, and steady...very good condition.
The lot is level and that is just wonderful as many areas on that lake can be very steep getting in or out.
The home is very cute, and perfect for a getaway, but it’s too cluttered for its small size...for me anyway. And the stairs to the loft...yikes, they are attic stairs, you know the rickety ones in your house you pull down from the ceiling that you hate going up a few times a year. It says no kids up there, but that is really the only people who can climb up and down those repeatedly. But once you get up there it’s a great little space.
I think my main advice for this place is Less is More. There was weird placement of the bed downstairs because of a random china cabinet and other pieces. You literally walked into the bed when you came in the main door.
Bathroom was good, but they should spring for a $20 shower head...the one in there spits water and it takes a while to get shampoo out of your hair.
We never ran out of hot water which was great.
I'd suggest bringing you own blankets, it can get chilly and it's nice to cuddle up to a nice clean blanket.
