Little house in Alfama

Stayed here three or four years ago when the property was managed likely by the owner had an incredible time saw the same property on VRBO again unfortunately nowhere near the same experience place is definitely been left to disintegrate a little bit overtime from cleaning to broken things mould on the walls and general disrepair

Dirty and Unhelpful

The check in process is horrible. I read the review that people got confused and took extra precaution to follow instructions. However my welcome email only provided an address for the after hours check in and merely said day hours to go to the welcome center. The Lisbon welcome center is located very close to the after hours address and seemed logical. That isn’t where it is. It’s miles away from the welcome center or after hours check in so needed to get across town to get the keys to walk another couple miles to get to out place. Only after I checked in did they send me addresses and actual necessary information. The key for the door to enter the compound area did not work. When we called we were told others there know so nobody will shut the door. Note this door is on a well traveled corner and any person could simply close the door and it would lock us out. Luckily that did not happen but also then felt like a layer of security was missing as we needed to keep that open. Inside was dirty. Mold covered the walls in the bathroom where the towel hang and all along the shower tiles and bathroom sink. I showered first thing, as I had a 5 mile walk with luggage to get there. In the short walk from shower to the bedroom my feet were dirty from the floors not swept or mopped. There was also a window blind that did not work so anyone walking by could see into the entire main area. We found a way to hang a blanket for privacy. The amenities were lacking. Only a single bar of soap to use between washing hands and shower. One towel per person. No wash cloth. The extra pillow appeared dirty. No paper towels or napkins. They advertise a washing machine but no detergent. No cleaning supplies. This isn’t the first time I’ve stayed somewhere you can’t flush toilet paper but they provide a very small waste basket and no additional bags for it. Needless to say it made disposing of toilet paper difficult and unsanitary. Lastly, it’s very loud. I assume many places are like this with how Alfama neighborhood is set up and and age of it but the unfortunate part is the community garbage and recycling bins are outside the bedroom window so the sound of breaking glass by your head is constant morning and night. I will say the location is great but would not recommend using this rental company.

I love the location and the apartament was clean, with air conditioner which makes the stay nice during the summer. The kitchen is completely equiped. The matress and sheets are nice. The neighborhood is not quite, there is a lot of noise, so it is important that the guests have the possibility to close the windows with the metal curtains for a more quiet enviroment inside, and none of them are working. If this get fixed the apartament will be much better. Some more hangers would be great.

Alfama apartment

Great location in a local area with a nice private entrance. Clean and a good size place! Only complaint is you have to pick up keys at an office not near the apartment.

Great little place in the heart of Alfama

The apartment is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and would be perfect for longer stays. Getting the keys was pretty confusing as there are two different pick up locations depending on the time... So pay close attention to emails etc so you don't end up walking all over town. Check out Wakame Sushi Ten and Anti, both in easy walking distance!
