Bishop's Barn, seals, seaside walks and The Broads National Park
Built in the early 1900s as a stable block and tractor shed, the barn has been redesigned by a local architect with modern living and comfort in mind whilst retaining original beams. Sitting in it's own wrap around garden with views onto the fields the barn has an open plan living room with a log burner for cosy nights inside whilst the sun drenched patio offers the ideal spot for alfresco dining or watching the sun go down. A grassed lawn stretching the length of the stable block links with a second patio off the master bedroom suite. It offers plenty of space to relax and unwind all year round. You may spot the local barn owls, bats circling over the garden in the evenings, geese migrating across the skies or muntjac and deer roaming the fields. The barn is situated in the small peaceful hamlet of Runham with a shop and 2 pubs approximately 2 miles away in neighboring villages. From the barn take a gentle walk down to the River Bure across open fields for a picnic or a 20 minute walk along the country roads will lead you to Thrigby Wildlife Gardens. In the village there is a small children's playground and village green. Empty roads and the odd gentle hill makes cycling easy and pleasurable for all abilities. The expansive unspoilt sandy beaches of Caister await 5 miles away for swimming , sand castles and seal spotting, while boat hire on the broads is just 3 miles. Please note that the barn has 2 open steps between the dining area and main living space and a step in the master bedroom. In addition, it does not have hand rails in either of the bathrooms.

Excellent barn conversion and hospitality. Very quiet detached property with great log burner. Spotlessly clean with very nice furnishings and good size modern TV (and small TVs in bedrooms that we didn't use). Enjoyed playing table tennis in the garden. Highly recommend
Our stay was so relaxing and peaceful and we dream of our next visit back. Viv, truly made us feel welcome, with providing much needed necessities for our arrival, with a delicious baked bread and butterfly cupcakes (could open up her own bakery), milk and a welcome gift basket. The property is superb and has everything you need and feels like home away from home. Thank you Viv, for making our stay enjoyable and memorable.
The hosts have anticipated their guests every need in this fabulous property within striking distance of the Norfolk Broads and east coast beaches.
The attention to detail was appreciated.
Looking forward to staying again.
Wow what an amazing property in a lovely tranquil location. The barn was spotlessly clean and the attention to detail was evident throughout. The welcome pack on arrival was perfect with Birthday treats included for my mum. Viv was a great host.
This barn conversion really has the Wow factor. Attention to detail by the hosts is evident as soon as you walk in the door. Briliant welcome pack, including home-made bread and cakes, fresh eggs, and flowers and lots more. Such a relaxing, quiet place, but so much to do and explore on the doorstep. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
The property was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The host left us a very generous welcome pack, homemade bread and cakes and gorgeous sunflowers. The kids enjoyed the games available at the property and we all enjoyed the odd game of table tennis! The Barn had everything we could need for a week away and the hosts left detailed information about Bishop’s Barn and the surrounding areas. We enjoyed boating on the broads (hired from Herbert Woods), beach days and Bewilderwood, all within half an hour from the Barn A great base to explore Norfolk and wonderful to come back to after a strenuous day at the beach!
From the moment we stepped through the door we felt at home. Absolutely beautiful, we loved everything about the barn. Two beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms, comfy sofas with all kitchen amenities you could want. We made great use of the table tennis tablefire pit. Lovely welcome basket containing loads of lovely goodies. One of the best places we have stayed.
Perfect in every way, we really can’t fault the property at all.
Beautiful high quality decor, fixtures and fittings. Wonderfully comfortable and homely.
Really well equipped with everything needed.
The thoughtful welcome hamper complete with home cooked cake and other lovely goodies was a lovely touch.
Highly recommend this beautiful home for a peaceful and tranquil break.
Thank you Viv and David.
Viv's property is an absolute jewel nestled in a peaceful village setting. The barn is airy and big, spotless and equipped with everything you need for a wonderful stay- Viv even left us a welcoming hamper full of treats, whcih we absolutely loved. Big bonus were the children books and games- we had a lot of fun!
The place is lovely and the host seems to have thought of everything. Home made bread and cupcakes were a very nice touch. Location is great for getting to family-friendly attractions (e.g. Bewilderwood). Warm, comfy, finished to a high standard, excellent bathrooms. Our son enjoyed the box of Lego. Really can't fault it!
Quietly tucked away in rural Runham, Bishop’s Barn is a little gem suitable for and caters for all ages. Viv spoils you with homemade bread upon request, a delightful welcome basket and homemade cakes! All Easter themed too. Our little boy was also surprised on Easter Sunday with a basket in the shape of a sheep full of Easter eggs. Wonder who left them? Kind and thoughtful hosts who have converted the barn into a high end, glossy home style magazine -worthy property. Tastefully furnished throughout with a unique sea worthy nod in the form of wall art. A very well equipped kitchen, sustainably sourced and slightly amusing bathroom accessories, fluffy towels and crisp bed linen, and not forgetting the quality beds, make you not want to leave! And who would want to when Blanche and Bluebell lay scrummy eggs for you! A truly wonderful stay, whether you’re lucky enough to grab some solitude with peace and quiet thrown in, or if it’s a base for wandering adventures, you will not be disappointed. Oh, and Norfolk’s nice too😂
Clean, warm and lovely interior. Great communication with the owner and the property is fantastic inside and out. Stayed over New Year and the barn is in a great place to get out and about. Overall, we had a lovely relaxing weekend and would definitely return.
Really nicely presented property, with quality modern amenities. Our host even provided a Christmas tree.
We had a really enjoyable stay in a lovely part of the world.
My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Bishop’s Barn for a week. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable family vacation.
The barn is beautifully situated in a quiet, rural location. It is also close to a number of popular attractions, such as the Broads and the Norfolk Coast
The barn itself is spacious and very well-equipped, with everything we needed for our stay. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms are modern and clean. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need to cook and eat at home. We particularly enjoyed the living space, which is great for relaxing, eating and spending time together. The addition of toys and board games kept our little boy entertained throughout our stay.
Also, the welcome pack from the host we found on arrival was very much appreciated!
I stay here with my wife and two children who are aged 1 and 5 and we had a lovely time. Theres lots of space, its very open and such a bright welcoming space.
Everywhere was clean and tidy, the welcome basket was very good too and much appreciated and we settled in very quickly. There were some books, games and toys in the property which went down well with the kids and the garden and patio area were used on warmer days.
In terms of location it is a relatively short drive to Great Yarmouth and there are some pubs even closer than this. There are places to eat nearby for the children and we never had to drive more than 30 mins to get to any of the locations we wanted to visit in Norfolk.
Overall, very nice, very clean, very welcoming and a good location. We would happily stay again in the future.
Have just returned from a lovely week at this property. The property itself was spotless, and the kids loved the games, lego and books that were available. The welcome basket, homemade bread and cakes were delicious!
Location is ideal for popping down to the coast, and a number of family attractions closeby.
We will return
Thank you
Organising a short holiday with one's elderly mother and work colleague/friend who have never spent time together before can go one way or another. Thankfully it went the good way and it was made even better by this beautiful property and it's surrounding countryside. The care and detail the owners have put into making this such a comfortable place to stay and relax in was palpable. From the little ducks placed on top of the wonderfully large bath towels to the welcome basket of pots of jam and homemade cakes I wondered if I could find places like this across the world I may never need to go to a hotel again. And the relaxing part - yep that started the moment we took off our shoes and put our cases down.
Beautiful barn conversion in a truly lovely setting. Every little detail has been thought of and the special little touches such as a very well stocked welcoming basket, home made cakes and flowers made the entire holiday just seem so much better. Can't wait to return
