Could have been better
Nothing was clearly marked, and the hosts failed to meet us when we arrived. The wife of the couple was there, but she ignored us so we figured things out on our own. There was an email sent to me with instructions and information about a week before arriving, but without cell reception is was unable to access the instructions. Further, when we got to the cottage we realized that there were no bed linens, trash bags, paper towels, or toilet paper. There was a coffee machine, but no filters. After getting the WiFi password and checking the informational email I was sent, I saw that the host explains in an FAQ that these things would not be provided. I expect information like that to be part of the description of the property so that I can opt for another more inclusive experience elsewhere. Lastly, the description of the property makes it seem like it is on a lake, but that is not true. Lake access is a quarter mile walk through muggy, boggy grass. The beach is micro sized and is the only lake access available besides a tiny, rickety pier. The “resort” aspect of this experience was virtually nonexistent. I will not be staying here again. I resent having to spend extra time and $$ going to town for bed linens and toilet paper. For the price, these things should be included/provided without having to ask. The lake was beautiful and had lots of fish, but one of our kids was hooked with an old lure in the water by the beach, so swim with caution. The cottage was musty with the cheapest and least comfortable seating and beds possible, a rickety table and chairs, and only an uncomfortable futon to sit on. A tiny tv too far from the futon was not practical, and many of the dishes were dirty.
