About this property

New build constructed in 2019. The 2-bed annex is on the ground floor with its own private entrance. There are two large bedrooms both en-suite. one has a 5 ft double bed and the other has two 3 ft single beds. There is a small separate kitchenette within the hallway. The kitchenette (not a kitchen) includes microwave, larda fridge, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, soup maker, omelette maker, china, cutlery, utensils and a sink. There is underfloor heating with settings in every room. There is also an air exchange system for fresh clean air entering the rooms at the same temperature of the old air that leaves through a different vent. The digs are accessed up a private drive with electric gates with private parking at no extra charge. The Mount is a one minute stroll to the very popular Royal William Yard with restaurants, bars and a small ferry to The Barbican. There is also a walk-on ferry (a two minute stroll) which goes across the River Tamar to Cornwall with lovely walks and Cornish villages and pubs.

A very pleasant day

The accommodation was absolutely lovely, but, it is very small, absolutely great as a base for visiting local area. There are two spacious bedrooms and a table with two dining chairs big enough to accommodate two people and a very small sofa. The only thing we missed was a separate room where we could sit down together. But, the accommodation was exactly as it was described. I would highly recommend this venue and the host. .

A beautiful home with all the creature comforts, very close to the beach front and harbour. Amazing views all round with exquisite cuisine located on the doorstep, super friendly area with easy access to the local town centre by car or by a short boat ride. The owner was amazing and very welcoming to our family, we had the best time in a long time away from home, their home felt like our home for the entire stay!

Schöne Wohnung mit guter Anbindung

Die Wohnung hat eine gute Lage direkt am Royal William Yard, wo es einige Restaurants und Bars gibt. Das Stadtzentrum selbst ist fußläufig innerhalb von 15 bis 20 Minuten zu erreichen, mit dem Auto deutlich weniger. Zur Wohnung gehört ein Parkplatz, der sich auf dem gleichen Grundstück befindet. Das Grundstück ist jederzeit mit zwei Toren verschlossen, so dass unbefugter Zutritt ausgeschlossen ist. Die Wohnung selbst entspricht den Fotos und hat alles, was man für einen Urlaub benötigt. Selbst kochen kann man dort nicht, weil weder Herd noch Backofen verhanden sind, wohl aber Mikrowelle, Toaster und Wasserkocher. Die Vermieterin ist sehr sympathisch und jederzeit verfügbar, hält sich aber im Hintergrund. Bei Bedarf hat sie Ausflugstipps und ist auch sonst sehr bemüht. Wir hatten uns im Vorfeld mit dem Buchungsdatum vertan und sie hat es völlig unkompliziert innerhalb kürzester Zeit geändert. Auch haben wir ein paar Tage vor der Anreise mehrere Videos von ihr bekommen, wie man aufs Grundstück kommt, parken soll und auch schon einen Rundgang durch die Wohnung für den Fall, dass sie bei unserer Anreise nicht da sein sollte. Wir waren rundum zufrieden und würden die Unterkunft immer wieder buchen. Thanks a lot, Joanna!

Wir hatten die zwei Zimmer für 11 Nächte gemietet. Diese sind modern und schön eingerichtet. Die Lage ist hervorragend, Restaurants gibt es viele die innerhalb von wenigen Minuten zu erreichen sind. Auch ans Meer sind es nur wenige Schritte. Nach wenigen Tagen viel uns allerdings auf das z. B der Staubsauger oder sonstiges reinigungs Gerät etwas in die jahre gekommen sind oder überhaupt nicht funktionierten. Mit einem Kind und zwei Erwachsenen sammelte sich somit in den 11 Tagen einiges an staub und schmutz an. Ebenso steht in der beschrieben das es eine Lüftungsanlage gibt und man keine Fenster öffnen müsse, dies hat leider nicht funktioniert und die Fenster liesen sich auch nur minimal öffnen, somit war es recht warm in der Wohnung. Die Küchenzeile steht im Eingangsbereich/Flur, leider hatten wir überlesen das es keinen Herd bzw. Backofen gibt. Die zubereitung von Mahlzeiten war somit etwas schwierig.

Family Holiday

We’ve just returned from a lovely week staying at The Mount. The property had plenty of space for our family of four and bonus that each room has its own en-suite with fantastic showers and lots of space for two teenage girls to get ready. The accommodation was very clean and the small kitchen area was perfect for breakfast and snacks with every utensil you’d need and an ample size fridge. Although there is no sitting room the bedrooms are large and we managed to sit around the dining table for breakfast and games in the evening. Lots to do in the area and the proximity to Royal William Yard meant we tried every restaurant available and with only a short walk through private drive we felt really spoiled. Great to have parking for free and within a secure drive meant no concerns going out for the day. Joanna was lovely from original booking to our stay and gave us ideas of places to visit and just generally wanted us to have a fantastic holiday and enjoy our stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and definitely will recommend to others. I can’t fault accommodation or our hosts in any way.

Best stay in Plymouth, great value for money.

A lovely, cosy accomadition with everything there, Great hosts on hand if required and set in outstanding grounds a real idlic location to stay. Minutes from Royal William yard with great transport links of boats, buses and taxis is available. Would highly recommend to all that visit Plymouth and definitely will be staying again.

Wonderful stay at The Mount

This property was perfect for everything Ineeded..immaculately clean, modern, quiet.. beautifully furnished and supplied with everything in the kitchenette .I even made small cooked meals as there’s microwave a china cutlery etc provided plus welcome tray with cereal tea cookies etc.So close to Royal William yard with fantastic choice of restaurants.. ferries to Cornwall The Barbican and great bus to Plymouth city the bus stop is close by….Definitely recommend and plan to return.Joanna’s a wonderful helpful host she even did my laundry! LOVE this property!!!!

Great place great location

We had a fantastic 2 week stay. Joanna and Andrew were perfect hosts warm friendly and welcoming . The accommodation was modern and clean with comfy beds and lovely bathrooms (great showers). One of the bedrooms has a great view with glimpses of the sea peeking through the trees. The kitchenette accommodated all our needs consisting of a fridge, coffee machine, kettle, microwave, toaster and even an omelette maker. The accommodation has private parking through electric gates great for peace of mind. Royal Williams Yard and devils point with its great views and many restaurants are only a few yards away . Or grab an early morning coffee from Hutong and watch the swimmers at Firestone bay as the sun shimmers on the sea . This is a perfect base to discover the surrounding areas such as Mount Edgcumbe house and park. Jennycliff and it’s costal walks, the hoe and Barbican, Looe bay, Dartmoor with its wild ponies. Discover many more places in Cornwall and Devon. Great accommodation for a base to discover surrounding areas. Thank you Joanna and Andrew for making this so welcoming.

Mount stone cottage.

Had a great Fantastic stay. Joanna and Andrew are Great hosts, Joanna gave us an upgrade when we got there. The cottage was lovely, quiet and secluded. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, front room with a bar, dinning room and a lovely courtyard. Set near to the Royal William Yard. My husband and I have been hosts to actors visiting Plymouth for some 20 years when we lived in our Georgian house. We know only too well that you want a clean, warm, pleasant place to stay which is private and quiet. We are here to help if you need us - but we are also aware that you are on your holiday and we do not encroach on your space.
In 2019 we built 'The Mount' which is where we now live having sold our old house. The two-bed accommodation being offered to you is on the ground-floor of the new house and completely separate.
My career has been as a teacher of children with aspects of dyslexia. I ran my own business having created a reading resource for children that is based on playing card games and having fun and yet it is a professional reading scheme
My husband is a keen golfer so if you would like any information on the several courses around here he will be able to help.

Why they chose this property

This is an opportunity to stay in a new-build property with clean and fresh bedrooms.

The amazing air exchange system gives clean fresh air 24/7. I have been astonished at its efficiency - no stale air, all fresh with the same temp air coming in as going out - but fresh - it is wonderful.

The underfloor heating system works throughout the property - meaning warm tiles and walking around barefooted is a real pleasure.

As for the location and area in general it really is wonderful. We moved to this area 25 yrs ago and realised how much it had to offer - so much so that we sold the house and built the new house in the grounds.

Apart from being right by the sea and the Royal William Yard we are a short drive from masses of beautiful beaches in Devon and Cornwall. Dartmoor is only a twenty min drive away. But in addition we are in a city postcode, meaning access to everything Plymouth has to offer being a 20min walk, a direct bus twice an hour or a foot ferry twice an hour.

It is an astonishing area offering so much.

What makes this property unique

The Mount is right outside the historic Grade 1 listed naval victualling yard - Royal William Yard now with all its bars restaurants, winebars and open air entertainment during the summer. There are monthly farmers market, open air concerts and plays, jazz and folk music at weekends. There is also water sports in the form of SUPs (Stand Up Paddle boarding. The RWY Ferry goes half hourly to the Barbican.

The Barbican has the aquarium, Mayflower Steps, Plymouth Gin Distillery, restaurants, bars and several interesting shops - art and antiques included. There is a foot ferry to two villages, Cawsand and Kingsand, with beaches and pubs across the River Tamar in Cornwall. These villages can also be reached via a small passenger ferry a couple of hundred metres from the property and then a very pleasant walk of approximately 90 minutes. Alternatively you can take a bus which meets the ferry hourly at Cremyll.
