About this property
MarcheAmore - La Roccaccia. Private Castle with Pool & Jacuzzi.
La Roccaccia was built in 1080 AD as a lookout tower to defend the Fermo area. Located in an enchanting setting between Monte Sibilla, the gorge of Infernaccio and the hilltop town of Montefortino, it is on a spur of rock from which it dominates the valley.
Today La Roccaccia is a luxury venue located among the Sibillini mountains, designed for those in search of peace, relaxation and meditation. Its park is filled with works of art and at it features a private amphitheater with a unique view.
On the ground floor there is the luxury suite called "L'Infernaccio" accessible without having to climb any steps.
Throughout the apartment, ancient architectural elements have been restored and mashed with modern design elements to convey a sense of comfort and elegance.
The living room with kitchenette, which disappears behind a wardrobe, overlooks a splendid courtyard on the ground floor and a stone balcony with a view of the Infernaccio gorge and the surrounding mountains.
The master bedroom and the double access bathroom are an example of an intelligent and creative restoration that contemplates the use of refined materials.
The main apartment "La Sibilla " is located on the first floor and is accessible via a short wooden staircase. Immediately striking the particular attention given to the materials that make the place perfect. Thanks to a respectful restoration it has been possible to bring together in perfect harmony elements from the past with modern materials adapting perfectly to the landscape that surrounds them.
The dining room with kitchenette, which disappears behind a sliding door, overlooks a terrace from which you can enjoy the sun and an incomparable panorama that frames the Gole dell'Infernaccio and the villages perched on the mountains. Going upstairs we find a single bedroom, a double bedroom "La Romantica" and a bathroom.
Finally, going up to the third floor there is the last double room which has a private bathroom with whirlpool tub and from which at night, by opening the oculus on the ceiling, you can admire a wonderful starry sky.
Near Montefortino there are numerous architectural and naturalistic sites that remain to be discovered. First of all the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Ambro, an ancient Marian place of worship among the most relevant in the region. It stands along the valley of the Ambro river, where around the 11th century the first church dedicated to the Virgin was built, as tradition dictates, following the apparition of the Virgin to a local shepherdess, she regained her word. Much of the territory of Montefortino extends over the mountains, which preserve many testimonies of the agro-pastoral past of its inhabitants, such as Le Case (Lu Pià), small stone houses used by shepherds during transhumance, high mountain farms and remains of ancient animal shelters.
Many of the most beautiful excursions on the Sibillini Mountains start in the villages and places close to Roccaccia, one of the most beautiful and, at the same time, easy walk is certainly the one that leads from the Gole dell'Infernaccio (starting from Rubbiano 3 km) to the hermitage of San Leonardo in about 1 hour, you will have the opportunity to walk in places of unique charm.
To take a nice walk on one of the most beautiful crests of the Sibillini you will have to head to the Rifugio della Sibilla, from here begins a track lasting about 3 hours where you can admire all the greenery that surrounds these ancient mountains among the most beautiful in Italy. (medium-easy route).
If you want to walk about 5 hours you can head to the village of Foce di Montemonaco from here you can take the track that leads to Lake Pilato, the only natural lake in Le Marche region, also known as the lake with glasses, is located in a narrow glacial valley. north of the main peak of the massif, surrounded by the highest peaks of the Sibillini Mountains such as the Carrier, the Pizzo del Diavolo and Mount Redentore. The lake is home to a particular endemism, the Chirocefalo del Marchesoni: it is a small red crustacean that measures 9-12 mm and swims with its belly facing upwards. In tradition, the lake is considered a mysterious, magical and demonic place. In fact, it takes its name from a legend according to which the body of Pontius Pilate ended up in its waters, who was executed by order of the Emperor Titus Vespasian for not having prevented the crucifixion of Jesus, and was later loaded on a chariot. pulled by two buffaloes that transported it from Rome to the Sibillini Mountains and finally throwing itself into the lake.
Guests can take advantage of the entire venue. The spaces in the garden and the surrounding park might be shared with other potential guests staying at L'Infernaccio apartment which is located on the ground floor.
Our staff will not be at the venue during your stay but we will be available 24/7 non the less.
