About this property
Karla - Studio in Polače, balcony with partial sea view
Beautiful scenery, crystal clear sea, lakes, islands, rich cultural heritage make the island truly paradise on earth. In northwest part of the island you can find a national park with a lot of beautiful things to explore. Ancient Greek poet Homer writes about this island in Odysee, and how he had sailed in this region. Apostle Paul mentions this island on his voyage through Adriatic and visits the island on his way to Rome.
The space
Our Guest house is situated in National park Mljet, in a small village Polače, hidden in Mediterranean forest. There are two guest houses, one stone house in first row to the sea and this one is just across the road. Our guest house is newly built and still in process of decorating the exterior. We devoted special attention to interior decoration to provide you the comfort for your memorable vacation.
Studio provides one double bed (two single beds pushed together) and for third guest there is a sofa bed, private bathroom with shower and private furnished terrace. It's situated just 100 meters from the sea and stone private beach where you can refresh yourself in hot summer days or relax in shade of trees on lovely bench.
Guest access
All our guests can enjoy in private stone beach 100 meters from the house. Free parking lot is is at our guests disposal.
Mljet is the southernmost and easternmost of the larger Adriatic Islands of Dalmatia. It is the greenest Island with Mediterranean vegetation, a clear and clean sea, and a gentle sandy shoreline. National Park spreads on the western side of the Island (for over 54km2) and offers shady walking or cycling tracks, ancient ruins, and saltwater lakes. Entrances to NP Mljet is in Polače and Pomena.
The main places are Pomena, Polače, and Sobra and in those places, you may find supermarkets, ATMs, restaurants, travel agencies, souvenir shops, etc...
Island is regularly connected with Dubrovnik with a ferry from Dubrovnik or Korčula as well as a car ferry connection with Pelješac Peninsula on the Croatian mainland.
Polace is very popular among sailors and yachtsmen to do their anchorage there due to its sheltered position. It has a couple of restaurants and cafes, as well as a shop for basic provisions. There are also several places where guests can rent bicycles and scooters. You can choose between several restaurants to enjoy domestic Mediterranean cuisine or to relax on the beach.
The village has a number of ancient ruins dating from the 1st to the 6th centuries. Greatest significance is the Roman palace hence the name “Polace” from the 5th century whose walls dominate the village. This is one of the largeast buildings in Dalmatia from the Roman period.
